The order page said v8 and that is what I got. Most of the websites I checked prior to purchacing did not denote if it was 2008. Keep in mind that the 2008 version is simply a data update. Even the 2008 is still considered v8 I believe. Anyhow, I was able to order the free upgrade though the Garmin site. We will see when it arrives. Thanks for your reply.
No. V.8 is NOT the same as V.2008. It's confusing, but the V.2008, which is the latest/newest version would actually be V.9.
For some strange reason, Garmin or NavTeq decided to change the way they showed version numbers.
To re-iterate: V.2008 ( Could be considered V.9 ) is the latest/newest version of the mapping software.
Another thing to consider, is if you need the "NT" version or not. Only the newer GPS models can utilize the "NT" version of the maps.
The "NT" version is exactly the same maps, but in a more compressed format.
