  1. That's 37.8mi SW (60.9km) from where I live. I might start with it since it has a paved road. I was a bit discouraged with "Hangover" since it requires a fit person and I'm a bit overweight and more prone to slipping to my 300ft. doom waleedsgallery.biz
  2. I didn’t realize that.. Thanks. I’ll try to check them out this weekend.. I assumed that only terrain 1 is accessible to 2WD sedans. waleedsgallery.biz
  3. That's very kind of you and your wife Steve... waleedsgallery.biz
  4. Well, whenever you're around and interested in a cup of tea or instant coffee/espresso, you know where to go.. Just email me first to make sure I'm there Cheers, Waleed waleedsgallery.biz
  5. That's very interesting.. Did you hide a cache over there? Just try to be extra careful when you go exploring. Make sure people know where you are going. There was an accident a couple of years back when people discovered some caves filled with water and decided to go scuba diving. Well, the sad part was some of them got lost underwater and never made it out in time before their supply of oxygen ran out. So, always think of safety and be prepared for a worst case scenario. waleedsgallery.biz
  6. If I was to bag any more caches, I'll need to get me some wheels. I tried encouraging some of the people I know with 4WD vehicles into teaming up and GeoCaching, but I guess it’s an acquired taste.. Hehe.. Oh well... waleedsgallery.biz
  7. It's probably a bit over your budget, but it's what I use here in Saudi Arabia. It does not have a base map and it has all the basic features.. Stores 500 waypoints and you can create one route with 50 waypoints. I can back it up to both the Macintosh and the Windows computers. Here.. Garmin eTrex waleedsgallery.biz
  8. Have you tried eBay for both selling or buying? waleedsgallery.biz
  9. Way to go.. Did you take pictures? Here's my first hide waleedsgallery.biz
  10. I’d like to thank you for your kind words and feelings towards Saudi Arabia. We have many beautiful places to visit, but the average Saudi campers tend to prefer open fields at springtime for camping, as opposed to rocky structures. I don’t know what lead you to believe that we don’t know what we’re missing, but I thank you for your concern. I do agree that some Saudi Arabians tend to act carelessly when it comes to proper disposal of waste. Some of that blame should be directed towards the municipalities and the contractors hired to execute such tasks. Nonetheless, people from many nations inhabit Saudi Arabia and every nation has its high quality ambassadors or the exact opposite. I don’t want to get into a quarrel, but the good, the bad and the ugly are available in all countries. I’d like to wish you a pleasant stay, and hope your 18 months become delightful and enjoyable months for your and others. Happy Holidays, Waleed Alzuhair waleedsgallery.biz
  11. I really don't mind at all, if I only had a 4WD vehicle. But I think I'm the 2nd native Arabian in Saudi Arabia who's trying to participate in GeoCaching. The 1st is Abo Hamad of the Eastern Province, I think. So, I doubt that the original document caused any damage. Whoever tried reading the Arabic part, needed to think really hard to be able to decipher what it meant.
  12. I noticed that the English/Arabic cache document had some Arabic linguistic and grammatical errors. So, I took liberty of updating it. You can download a copy from this link. Happy GeoCaching
  13. This is where I work (N24 41.150' E46 37.521'); do I have neighbors on this forum?
  14. That's great news swdecato.. Did you buy it from "DarMoujah Comm & Electronics"? We bought the older MapSource for 500 Riyals, I wonder how much will they charge for this one.. I'll pay them a visit soon.. Thanks again..
  15. On our way to Kuwait, my wife took that photo of me while I was driving. Photography has always been my number 1 hobby, I caught those dunes on the way to Kuwait too.. Cheers, Waleed
  16. That's a lot of money.. Anything in the public archives that can be of use?
  17. The cache is now defined in Kuwait Thanks a lot.. Happy GeoCaching Kuwait
  18. I already emailed the admins of the site asking for the addition of "Kuwait" in the country list. Once it's added, I'll edit the cache to the correct country. One would wish the coordinates would be enough to get the country name from a lookup list. Thanks M&Ms for your help in the process of hiding the cache
  19. M&M, Do you have more information on the .spc format? I'd like to know more, just in case I come across it in my quest for a base map.
  20. I'm looking for an accurate base map for Saudi Arabia. I'm a Macintosh user and use MacGPS Pro with my Garmin eTrex GPS. I also use Garmin's MapSource under Windows emulation. So, a good base map for any of them would do fine. A few days ago, I scanned a paper map and calibrated it for use with MacGPS Pro, but the accuracy is not that good. So, I'd appreciate any help in this matter. Thanks, Waleed
  21. quote: Dodge Dakots 2WD pickup That would be answer#3 umc
  22. What’s becoming a challenge, other than bagging a cache, is to find a cache with easy terrain reachable by sedans. That’s why I wonder, what type of car do you drive?
  23. That's great M&M.. Would it be possible to choose an easy terrain for those of us driving sedans.
