  1. Two builder bugs: 1. When you put " inside value field, you get a message box telling it's illegal to put " or # in this field. When you click 'OK' you get immediately the same message box. This message box blocks the editing window, so there is no option to remove this illegal symbol. You must kill the builder process, while losing everything you didn't save, to quit this repeated message. 2. When you use action "Set a Task correct or incorrect, it uses the value "incorrect" for the negative value. When you want to check for it in an IF statement and use "Compare an object property...", select a task and correctness state, the negative value you can compare to is "NotCorrect". It means that if you set a task to incorrect, and then check if it is "NotCorrect" the test result will be false. Bypass: Use Set object property instead of Set a Task correct or incorrect.
  2. It seems like that main opposition to rating system is because the possibility of "rating wars". This can be avoided by positive only rating system, like the "like" in facebook. My suggestion is to allow "likes" or "recommendations" for specific criteria of each cache, like: Recommended place to visit Nice hide Nice container Nice cache contents Good page description Challenging terrain Recommended for families Easy one Challenging one Nice puzzle Nice multi steps Nice letterbox stamp Nice Wherigo game Educating Earth cache etc. Of course, some of the features will appear only for specific cache types. Although, it's possible to limit some features, like cache content to those who found it. Visitors than will see information like: 17 cachers recommend this cache for families, 23 recommend it as easy one, 2 recommend it as challenging one... Then, one will be able to search for specific criteria, e.g. for caches with at least 10 recommendations for nice hide.
  3. Think about the fun of the cachers. To solve the cache puzzle, one have to go to the library, rent a DVD movie, watch it without enjoying it because you look for specific things and go again to the library to return the movie. This is more annoying the making fun. I think that You tube is much better idea. You don't spent time and money on the video library. You can find short fun clips that will enjoy the cachers. There are many nice old clips with many copies on You tube that one will find even if some copies of it will be removed.
  4. I organize, together with other Israeli geocachers, the "10 Years! Israel" event, which will be held in Jerusalem: GC25AHC. Everyone who visit in Israel on 2nd May welcome to join us.
  5. Thanks for the answer, but I still can't get it to work. I generated a test cartridge with one zone (with text) and media for that zone. I added two images (.jpg) with sizes 230X180 and 230X130, for Garmin and PPC respectively, based on the guidelines. I tried with or without the resize option, compiled it for PPC/Garmin/Any device, I chnged it to use the suggested name conventions (e.g. zonexxx_garmin.jpg) and tried it on both the emulator and Oregon 300. Whatever I tried, it always used the first file attached to the media object. Is there any open source cartridge that uses per-device media files?
  6. In http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=185371 there are recommendations regarding media file sizes for Garmin and PPC. I followed these recommendations, creating media files optimized for each device. What do I do now with the two sets of media files? When a player download a file, he can choose which device he has. How does this translates to the selection of files? Can I publish two gwz files, for Garmin & PPC, or a single file with some indication to the compiler which file to use for which device? Is there ant other thing that may be (or automatically done) device dependent? Thanks, Amnon
  7. I have a new Oregon 300 with 2.11 player. I ran some wherigos - anywheres and start of something I write, and it worked with zones. Then I checked something else I wrote, and the zones became points. I checked it carefully with some zones, approaching from different directions. My guess is the difference is with the zones size. If the zone size is smaller then about 25m, Garmin treats it as a point. Maybe it is the resolution of zone presentation in Garmin. I didn't have time to further research it.
  8. Thanks, It's now works on my Nokia 3109c. Still didn't test it in the field, but the openwig starts, as well as a sample cartridge, without the bug that I got in earlier version. Thanks for your effort.
  9. I had tried it (v. 0.3.91) on two Nokia S40 phones, 6280 & 3109c (classic). Based on http://www.forum.nokia.com/devices/matrix_all_1.html , both support MIDP2.0, CLDC1.1 & JSR75. On both, I get the same error: No Class Def Found Error java/lang/NoClassDefFoundError ab: javax/microedition/location/LocationListener Thanks, Amnon
  10. First some history and facts for those who don't familiar with the complex issues in the middle east: Palestine is the Roman name for Israel. This name was used by occupied forces in Israel during the years. After WWI, the British occupied Israel (from Turks) and splitted it - eastern part to Arabs (today Jordan kingdom) and western part was reserved to the Jews. Due to Arab pressure, the western part wasn't given to the Jews, and Jews even disallowed from returning to their country, even when they tortured in the holocaust. In 1947, it was decided to split again the western Israel/Palestine between Jews and Arabs, but Arabs didn't accept it and opened war which ended by the occupation of parts of Israel by Jordan (Judea & Samaria), Egypt (Gaza strip) and Syria (Golan heights). In 1967 Israel released these occupied territories. Later, Israel signed peace agreements with Jordan and Egypt with agreed border. This did not put end to the story because Arabs who settled in Israel during its occupation by Turks, British and Jordan claim that Israel belong to them. To establish their claim they defined themselves as a people and named it "Palestine" to show a connection to Israel/Palestine and drop their connection to their origin in the Arab Peninsula. The situation become more complicated because Arab countries don't allow the Israeli Arabs to return to their original Arab countries. In the past, Israel agreed to give parts of Israel to Arabs. The "Palestinian Authority" was established as parts of these agreements, but the process was stopped, after Arabs who insist of getting all Israel started a terror war against Israel on 2000. The bottom line is that Israel and Palestine (aka Judea or Zion) are the same territory. The different names are use by Jews and Arabs who want the same territory. "Palestinian Authority" was given some autonomy in some territories, limited to Arab settlers. In these territories the full military, foreign affairs, etc. are of Israel and the internal issues are splitted between Jews and Arabs. Since this partition is based on population and not on territories, you can not use it as a separate territory for geocaching. The only exception is the Gaza strip that is actually ruled by the Hamas terrorists which fight bith Israel and the Palestinian authority. The actual situation there can be defined as a separate state, but this problem can be avoided because I don't suggest anyone to risk his life and enter this land of terror for a game.
