  1. Just a thought, I am thinking of releasing a couple of parasite caches. These would be small enough to travel from cache to cache and would also be recorded as a find. I suppose they would be a travel cache, being a parasite whilst holidaying in another cache. As long as they are small enough to fit into most small tupperware boxes I can't see a problem. Anyone could move them on, if they wanted to, or just leave them where they are. Is this permitted? Or are these too much like the old letterbox system? FBC
  2. Just a quick question - how long does a TB have to be stationary to instigate a rescue? My daughters TB has been stuck since Oct 07, can we ask for a rescue? It is trying to make it to the USA but seems to be loitering around the West Country. Her elder brother's head is soooo big it won't fit in the house anymore since it has been moving around USA. And mine (also trying to jump the 'pond) is in Scotland. FBC

  4. I recently purchased a garmin eTrex H from ebay. Got it for £51 from someone in the US for me it does the business especially under trees which was a real bug bear with my old geko. I have had accuracy down to 2ft which is brill. FBC
  5. I am currently using an Extrex H which is superb even under trees. It is only used for caching so I dont need maps. Got mine off Ebay for £51 which was cheap as they retail at £99 here.
  6. Perhaps we should find out who has written the article. Then find his address and put a few caches in his garden, on his car, under his house, on his trash can, on his bicycle etc.. Then put a 20 cache multi in wired magazine's office or have a flash mob caching event there. Just a few ideas to think about. FBC Dont get mad get even!!!!!!!!!!
  7. I never do micros with the kids they are 'just too boring'. I have done a few multi's but would never have the time to do a whole days worth due to odd working hours. There are loads of caches near me, quite a few micro's, but I prefer to do 'normal' caches as it is nice to exchange bits & bobs and to drop coins and tb's. I will not travel to far to just get a cache but if I am in the area I will have a quick look. What it boils down to is each to their own. If you 'need' to do numbers and not have children then carry on. If you have children they will probably like to have swapsies etc. FBC
  8. Hi all I have just purchased one of these - are they as good as they make out to be e.g do they work better than other cheapies under tree cover? Any info greatly recieved Thanks FBC
  9. Its a shame you are in USA there are quite a few accessable over here. FBC
  10. My first cach got seriously muggled - and I don't just mean stolen. I am particulary [edited by moderator] about this one because for starters it was my first cache and secondly it was put out to celebrate our family being complete having adopted our second child. Thirdly the cache was smashed up and a pathetic comment put in the log book [edited by moderator]. I know that there are loads of stupid morons and [edited by moderator] through out the world but it just annoys me. The box was marked for [edited by a different moderator] with a HUGE geocache sticker. FBC UK Cacher
  11. We dont really need to over here.England. Would like to be able to, just to take a few pot shots at any gang members or homies near urban caches. Just think of the money I could save the government in prison fees FBC
  12. hi all I dont lurk - just read the posts and look at the topics. Some topics are a bit obscure like the 'do carry a gun when caching' thread. But being a cacher from England we dont need to carry one so to me it is a bit off the wall. Have to say though I have picked up some great new ideas for caches FBC
  13. Having started this pastime way way before gps's were invented and in the home of the original 'cache' Dartmoor UK, my first reply was what the hell is that? Once explained I was geocaching within days. Over the years I have letterboxed on Dartmoor which is absoultly brilliant 6 number co ordinates no other clue you have to be spot on with a compass and map. Letterboxed in the New Forest (UK) these were hard to solve clues like - from gate 65 take 25 steps to silver birch on 360 deg these are fine if you know where gate 65 is in the 100sq miles of forest (yes I did find gate 65 spotted it whilst driving past and nearly wrecked the car ). To me Geochching is a modern form of letterboxing, its great and the kids love it, if I had the time I would be out and about every weekend. Fatblokecaver
  14. Even in England we get fed up with the micro rash that seems to be sweeping this nation. As I usually take my 2 adopted children caching with me they want the swapsies and goodies as well as TBs and coins in regular size caches. It is more fun. Large caches for ever. FBC
