  1. I've got an older Blackberry and have not seen anything yet. Anybody??? Bueller? Kenneth P.s. Maybe it is possible with the newer units to sync HTML files generated by some of the existing apps?
  2. Common problem if you boot with the GPSr connected. Check this thread out. Look for the /NoSerialMouse option. Kenneth
  3. I think you are seeing "disabled" caches and not "archived". There seems to be alot of disabled caches in the area that no one follows up on and they sit disabled, some for over a year. I just make sure my pocket queries has the "Is Active" checkbox selected to filter those out. Wouldn't it be nice if a cache was "temporarily disabled" for more than 6 months that it went into an "to be archived" queue for someone to review. I'll stay away from suggesting they auto-archive as I've been beat up on the GGA forums for mentioning such things. There are valid issues such as geo-litter. FYI that there is a monthly GGA meeting on Saturday on the southside of Atlanta metro. If you like swapping stories or want to get the goods on what caches to hit, try to get to it. Check the Georgia page and you can find it in the events area. Alternately you can check out our recently updated page for voted Outstanding Caches in 2004. http://ggaonline.org/outstanding.html Hope you have fun while visiting. Kenneth
  4. How about : A Painful Introspection Achimedes Spiral Latitude and Longitute The More The Merrier Three of these are by the famous Erik (long time approver). Kenneth
  5. Not sure if it acts the same as with a regular serial port, but if the system is a laptop then Windows may be detecting it at boot as serial mouse. Have you tried booting with the adapter unplugged and then plugging it in? If this fixes it, search Microsoft's Technet site for startup options in the BOOT.INI. Something like "/noserialmice" Kenneth
  6. I have done an "Initialize" on my unit when I was unsure of its accuracy. Seems to reset all the averaging and help it settle down. The comment on map datum is valid to check also. I had my unit on another setting for a meeting demo and afterwards I had trouble getting within 100ft. Fixed the setting and was back on track. Kenneth
  7. You found it!! Passed right through it since it was a ghost. There is no hint. Kenneth
  8. I think you meant to post this here. Thanks, Kenneth
  9. Nevermind....figured it out for myself. Kenneth Ha...ok I'll share. First you need to find the forum number for the forum you want to get feeds for. I want to watch the South and Southeast, the forum number is at the end of the URL: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showforum=22 So it is 22. So add this to the end of the normal RSS info: ?forum=22 The full RSS feed would be: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/rss.php?forum=22. Have fun with it...l Kenneth
  10. Anyway to get feeds for only certain forum(s)? Kenneth
  11. Please read the whole thread before posting. This thread is about distribution of the code, not ethics/etc. Kai Team nicely asked in a previous post. Follow the links in their post to the ones discussing all over opinions/etc. not related to distribution. Kenneth
  12. See Mad Cat, just ask nicely and you will find there are those out there willing to help. Kenneth
  13. Bill, I did not see links to the SCGA website on the Geocaching.com South Carolina page. Maybe you or someone else with the SCGA group can get them to add a link to the website? Glad the outdated entrance page was brought to your attention. Just wish it happened a little more pleasantly. Kenneth
  14. Have you tried their feedback page before going onto Groundspeak and bashing them? Maybe they need some help with the organization...are you volunteering? If you are web programming savy then maybe you can help them maintain the site. We have plenty of cachers in the GGA and our steering committee always has enough people to keep the association running. As always, anyone is welcome to come to GGA meetings, but I'd think the SCGA could really use your help more if you are so passionate about caching in SC. Thanks, Kenneth P.s. This opinion is mine and mine alone and not that of the GGA.
  15. Well it appears to be PocketPC related, so maybe one for that platform will work. I searched around Google, but most of the info is in non-english. Anybody??? Bueller?? Kenneth
  16. I'd try posting this over in the main GSAK thread located here. The author Clyde watches it more closely than keeping an eye out for every new post regarding GSAK. Thanks, Kenneth
  17. Well there is quite a selection for you. I'll give a few within a mile of I85 and let you decide. ------------------- Micros ------------------- Nothing Special Ones: This Cache is A Breeze - simple camo'd micro near a dining place. Traffic c is bad during rush hour here. Free Parking - near to This Cache is A Breeze 85 Overlook - not far from other two. WiFi Chocolate Coffee - Near an open WiFi coffee house...check your email and recharge with caffeine Clever Ones: This One's for Sam - very near I85, nice camo job Vulcan's Missing Key - close to above cache, also camo'd and near awesome view ---------------------------- Traditional ----------------------------- Water Wheel 2 - near Mall of Georgia (short walk and traffic can get bad around rush hour C^16 - comic based, but not required. traffic bad around rush hour (all Atlanta is) South North Georgia Travel Bug Motel - mostly for travelbugs, but it is a traditional ------------------------------ Virtuals ------------------------------ One Way to The Right Way - this one is at the Atlanta airport Big Silver Bird Watching There are definitely others along I85, but I gave you ones in Gwinnett County where I live/work. If you want to get ones close to the airport to be sure you are already in the area and not battling traffic to get there, just look at the ones you get from this search near the airport. If you want more help, try the GGA Hope this helps, Kenneth
  18. superpuppy, I'm sure the people over in this thread about using an iPod would appreciate a visit from you with info about your app. Thanks, Kenneth
  19. According to superpuppy in this thread, he has an app to turn GPX files into text files that can be displayed on an iPod. I'll refer him over to this thread if he has a place to share the program. Kenneth
  20. Ah...well if anything changes regarding this, I'll be watching. Thanks Robert. Kenneth
  21. Well my coding skills are rusty and I don't have an iFinder, but if I decide to get one I will get out the WD40 and see what I can do. Looks like Lowrance's libraries are Windows based so they probably don't fit very well into GPSBabel. Since they give the protocol definitions, I guess it is mostly a matter of having a unit to test and the time/effort of coding. If anyone wants to donate/loan an iFinder or equivalent Lowrance for a while then maybe we could hash this thing out. Hmmm..wonder if Clyde could use the libraries in GSAK??? Kenneth
  22. Can't someone use the development tools to write code to transfer GPX/loc data to/from the units? Kenneth
  23. Time is wasted when you spend it doing something you don't care about. If you don't care about a code, then like Jeremy said, don't use it. Similar to a gift you may be on the receiving end of the code. Whether you appreciate what is given is up to you after you receive it. Kenneth
  24. Just log a needs archiving and an admin will take it offline. If you really like it and want to take it over, post that in the archive request and the admin will help you along. Kenneth
  25. Nope...just the Georgia Geocachers Association (GGA). You'll find them here. There has been talk of a Savannah chapter, but nothing firm. There is a Savannah area in the GGA forums. Kenneth
