    Welcome

Well done E82. You make me proud. Just a quick interesting one in the name E82. It is not a Phone brand. e82 is the periodic table element Lead or Pb. In Afrikaans it is Lood. So Welkom Lood le Roux AKA E82 by die familie. Then another welcome to the 3 Little Pigs. I know you and the family will enjoy the game as much as we do. Well done on your first 3 finds yesterday.

  7. Well I had a cup of Chinese tea and came up with this, Instead of placing bandages, first aid kits and so on.. why not start building something close to the cache site like a survival shelter made from items found in the cache area. Then each guy has to do something to the shelter like planting a stick and take a photo of it. That way the first guy starts with the first piece and the shelter develops more as more cachers do something to it. You should then take a photo of what you did to the shelter and post it so everyone could see the progress... My five sents... looking for a cup of coffee now.
  8. I have been in China fro the last 9 months and have done a couple of caches in Beijing and was thinking of placig a few in Luoyang. The place mentioned in the article. After reading the post I now abandon the thought as I dont want to be the cause of anyone to be in trouble due to the use of GPS devices, I just cannot understand why the chineese are so afraid that someone will see where what is. Even if you look on google earth you will see that most of the "danger zones" are very blurred and hidden away. Makes one wonders why they will copy anything from the westeren world but are to avraid to show their own beautiful country. Hence finding a english map of China is almost impossable. I think they have much to learn and much to expose to the free world as hiding things is a sign of something not right. Great article thanks Megaben

  11. Just a question from a complete rookie... I now here in China and not far from me is what they call he Longmen Caves that was hand carved in the 5th century out of solid rock formations with 1352 caves, over 100000 statues and 3600 carved tablets of Buddhist incriptions dated back to the year 316. Does this qualify to be a earth cache???
  12. Hey guys, I'm off to China again for 6 weeks soon and wonder if anyone has some coins/tb's they would like to join me in my travels. I will book them in and out, take some pics and return them back to SA. its about 23000km round trip. Due to the circumstances in China there are very few decent container caches there, mostly virtuals, but I could look for some if you want me to drop it off there. Please let me know and they could hitch a ride, no racing coins or TB's please

  15. I was completely stunned with a very warm feeling when I read a log that was placed when I found a cache close to Krugersdorp. This shows me that we do not know our fellow cachers even if we think we did, its a long log so enjoy the read "I was in Pretoria for a communication meeting at Kievits Kroon Conference Centrum to decide how we are going to sustain growth in the present economic climate. One of the issues that we had to deal with was to decide if we should shut one of our factories. The guys from this specific factory were present and it was very hard for me to see how the teams give their recommendation and to watch their reactions. They did not do any networking and stayed in their rooms during the evenings. We left early on Sunday morning and I decided to do caching – run the hills and valleys to get rid of the bad feelings. The vote for closure was 50/50 - top management will now decide. This is bad – it leaves a lot of frustration and fear. It should be easier if the teams recommend shutting the factory. Then you know that it is time to search for something. Then it is the point of no return. I was in no mood for any people and I stopped about 300 meters away from the cache and walked back to it. As I was busy climbing the hill I noticed a vehicle stopping at the hill. I noticed that the person was answering his cell phone and then he started to climb the hill coming towards me. My first reaction was that he is now coming towards me with a lot of questions such as why and what I am doing on top of this hill. I immediately decided that I will tell him the following story. If he asked me what I am doing then I will answer him “I have this little female voice in my head, I am actually from Ermelo but I had to drive to this point. The little voice is saying that they will beam me up from this point. Please stay here then you can see. No, get closer maybe they will beam you up as well. No, where are you going”. Normally the muggles scatter at this point. I then noticed that the muggle is carrying a GPS. The muggle has now turned into a cacher, but I could not place him. It was Megaben. A very nice person and we had a little chat which I enjoyed. We found the cache together. Only my second time of meeting a fellow cacher at the cache. He gave me a lift back to the vehicle and saved me the 300 meter walk. Strange how people can lift your spirit and what influence they can have and sometimes this happens without them realising it. I felt better after our chat. Thanks for the chat – you had positive karma on me." Good luck Gerhard. I hope all went well
  16. One big happy family, I'm related to the Earthworm farmer from Pretoria - Wormgocache. Look like I got him hook line and sinker.

Mmm there is a shortage of Black Jacks so he has no natural habitat. Most of them Black Jacks have been torched... I think our intrepid cacher may have withdrawl symptoms... Either that or he is waiting to lay down his sneaky Black Jack Cache... LoL. Neville where are you.....? I'm glad to hear that theres no Blackjacks around in KZN. They are all up here in Gauteng. Damm you have to wear overalls just to park your car. hehe. happy caching

Hey good Idea, As I'm moving to Gauteng soon it will be great to do all the ones that warns" Do not attempt at night" Night caching here we come - with a police escort -an all Problem is with all the new street names its harder to spell the street name than to actually find the street. Well done Garmin
  25. Thanks guys, Your opinion counts a lot. At least I have an idea of what I will do. There is some really great caches in the area and it would really be a waste to simply get rid of it. Does anyone know which cache was placed the longest before it was found?? should be some interesting reading
