  1. We had this problem in the first contest and never got a reply at all. After that we kind of lost interest in the whole Jeep TB thing. It's too bad for the good PR Jeep could have gotten if they had been more responsive.
  2. Yes, our picture also disappeared. I sent an inquiry - they acknowledged it but never replied. Are they disorganized or simply unresponsive?? Don't they know it may influence our decision to buy a Jeep or not, or do they not care...Team Safari
  3. Why would you want to keep them - they are travel bugs! (We should talk, we have had ours for a month. Finally placed it today in our new cache Boys of Summer So AZ and are waiting for approval so we can move Jeep bug 0088 to his next place of destiny) Anyway. let those Jeep Bugs out so they can travel.
  4. And in the meantime, why don't y'all learn how to spell "precedence"...and "precedent"?
  5. Sometimes CO Admin over-reacts, and he is not known for his tact. He tries to do his volunteer job as best as he can, and I appreciate that. It's a hard job, and he has been ill. Cut him some slack personally. But I think he overstepped his bounds here, and TPTB needs to respond to this controversy. It's bad for Geocaching, and bad for the Geocaching image with new and old cachers.
  6. Maybe enter the TB on the Jeep Site instead of through the regular Geocaching site? I have found a lot of info on their site(such as a link to the photo & essay contests that Jeremy added). that does not exist on the regular site. Go to Main Menu and click on the link to the Jeep site, kind of in the middle of the page. We don't have any YJTB's in Southern Arizona yet, so we have not encountered the problem. Also, I've noticed several logs that say the physical bug number does not match the Web site number. Just some ideas. Regards, Team Safari
  7. Thank you again, Jeremy. I just read all the new essays and looked at all the photos in the contest from your link on the Jeep page. They reflect the diversity and imagination of the Geocaching community - will we get a chance to vote on the best each month? No Jeep TB's yet in southern Arizona that I can see. We are anxiously awaiting their arrival, because the other half of Team Safari has some great ideas for photo ops. Regards, Team Safari
  8. There are also some that have arrived in Georgia. The first of the essays in Alabama involves a police car and a funny story about giving the little Jeep a ticket on his way to a cache there. It's clever and has nothing to do with a regular size Jeep. I hope that corporate Jeep will recognize the diversity of geocaching and judge the essays and photos on their cleverness and beauty and not just whether they pertain to Jeeps in particular.
  9. We also thank Jeremy for his vision and work. Geocaching has enriched our lives and could not have happened without the Web Site, which constantly amazes with its new features. I have disagreed with him on policies and have voiced them at times. But ultimately, he is the benevolent dictator of Geocaching, and we acknowledge that. And he's done a great job! Long live the Frog!
  10. It seems to me that all these cute little Yellow Jeep TBs, once they get going(and it has been a slow start) will overwhelm the Web site. For instance, the other half of Team Safari wants to find one really bad, since we own a Yellow 82 CJ-7 and are into 4-wheeling. So, we will be adding to our personal Watch List everyone that comes out until we can narrow down which ones went to Arizona. What if we added 1500 to track as Premium members, and everyone else did too? Just wondering...
  11. There's ONE out there, but it's not called 'yellow jeep', it's Jeep 4X4 #0000. I've got a yellow CJ7, they should send me a TB too.
  12. Got a great chuckle from The Cheeseheads degree posting, very clever! Here in AZ, we're of thin blood, and pretty much are freezing at 30 above. However, you from Wisconsin should experience four months of above 100 degrees in the summer(that's our bad season from May to September) when even your car's interior melts! So, we endure, you endure. The only place that is perfect is San Diego, and it's too expensive to live there anyway...
  13. I always put trash bags in our caches and other people's too to encourage CITO. Today we were at an interesting meeting regarding making the Tumacacori Mtns, AZ into a wilderness area or not. There were many people there on both sides of the issue, and it was pretty adversarial and political. We were at the base of the mountains that were being discussed, but the immediate area was pretty trashy. I got a trash bag out of our cache bag, put on my new Geocachers baseball cap, and started picking up trash right there on the site! Well it was very interesting the reaction I got, especially from the environmentalists. They looked at me as if I were crazy - they just didn't get it, or wouldn't they have pitched in? Do they not see the relationship?
  14. Thank you so much for undertaking this - it sounds like it will be really interesting to Geocachers - who cares if it's flashy or not! Good luck to you from Team Safari....
  15. The best virtuals are placed in areas that a real cache could not be placed, but are still very interesting and fun to find. I can't see limiting virtuals just because some are lame. There are many "lame" real caches too, and many very clever and hard to find virtuals. All of us have different levels of imagination, so let the game include all placers of caches. Without us, the game cannot continue to grow!!
  16. Well, I have become a lurker(ie no posts) since our team includes my husband, and he wasn't voicing any opinions, in fact was not even involved in my fight against Admin's policies. I became afraid that our Team might be affected by my argument with Admin. Also, my objections to Admin were not having any results, so I basically have given up trying to have them listen to me. So, it's a wonderful Website and hobby, even though run by a benevolent dictatorship. It's their Website after all, I will follow their rules from here on. Hussah to the frog, may he live long and prosper!
  17. You guys at Admin are not listening to our concerns. Read all the posts and hear what we as your "customers" are saying. It's very clear, we are dissatisfied with ADmin policies and attidudes. We love the game, we think you are too heavy-handed towards us your "customers".
  18. A time for everything and everything in its place. If you don't like them, don't seek them. Otherwise, don't pass judgment on the rest of us who do find them educational, interesting and fun. They are in spots that cannot support for one reason or another a traditional(even a small one). Let this sport evolve, not be stymied by those of short vision.
  19. I agree with the original post; why does Admin prowl the discussion forums just searching for what they consider to be off-topic posts? I feel spied upon, and am not comfortable with this kind of surveillance. It is not that they do not have a right to stop off-color and angry posts, that is OK with me. It's just that they seem too controlling as to what we can discuss. Yes, the frog, whoever he is, owns ADMIN(the minions), and this is adverse to a true geocaching forum. I don't like it. Regards, Team Safari.
  20. I like to do it with other teams(our good friends Team Critter) and also my husband, the other half of Team Safari. However, they are not into the sport as much as I am(I'm obsessed), so sometimes I do it myself. I've had good experiences solo, but it is harder to motivate myself to actually get out. Also, I don't always find them as quickly - as someone else said, 4 or 8 eyes are better than 2.
  21. My brother and his family from El Dorado Hills, CA are driving the 15-18 hr drive from there to Tucson, AZ to share Thanksgiving with us. We really appreciate this effort. I got him into geocaching last May while visiting them in CA, he even bought a GPSr. So, we will go geocaching "desert-style" on Friday - hope to hit some of the Tucson caches I have not found yet, and have been saving for him. Liza his wife says no 4-wheel driving, so we will hit the ones close around here, with some hiking. Looking forward to seeing them! Team Safari
  22. Thank you so much for fixing the discussion forums - it sounds like you had a lot of work to do in a very short time, and everything came back! Even though I sometimes disagree with the policies of the powers that be, I really appreciate all that they do, and that they support this game and its forums. The forums really are the heart of communications between geocachers, not to mention administration. Regards, Team Safari
  23. Yes, that would be cool. Team Critter & Team Safari might like to hide some more together. River <table bgcolor="white" align="center" style="font-size:8pt;color:black;"> <tr> <td align="center"> <b>This cache was placed by a <a href="http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NM_Geo/" target="_blank" style="font-size:8pt;color:black;">New Mexico Geocacher</a>.</b><br><a href="http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NM_Geo/" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.9key.com/images/nm_button.gif" border="0" alt="New Mexico Geocacher" vspace="3"></a> </td> </tr> </table>
  24. Yes. it's an amazing picture! Mother Earth cleansing her forest. <table bgcolor="white" align="center" style="font-size:8pt;color:black;"> <tr> <td align="center"> <b>This cache was placed by a <a href="http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NM_Geo/" target="_blank" style="font-size:8pt;color:black;">New Mexico Geocacher</a>.</b><br><a href="http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NM_Geo/" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.9key.com/images/nm_button.gif" border="0" alt="New Mexico Geocacher" vspace="3"></a> </td> </tr> </table>
  25. uired no maintenance. These limitations by admin are unreasonable, and I am on strike for placing caches anywhere, including locally. Who are they to decide where we live and where we can place caches?? It may be easier for admin to just deny any cache they can, but what will happen to the game when people stop placing caches? They will all implode as predicted and the game will end, too bad. <table bgcolor="white" align="center" style="font-size:8pt;color:black;"> <tr> <td align="center"> <b>This cache was placed by a <a href="http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NM_Geo/" target="_blank" style="font-size:8pt;color:black;">New Mexico Geocacher</a>.</b><br><a href="http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NM_Geo/" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.9key.com/images/nm_button.gif" border="0" alt="New Mexico Geocacher" vspace="3"></a> </td> </tr> </table>
