  1. I agree with kayak-cowboy on everything he said. The Zire 31 is my "go-to" PDA of choice for daily caching. Only on long road trips do I take my Pocket PC, a Dell Axim x30, and then only because it offers wireless internet access in case I need to grab updates. Cheers!
  2. I have one left, it is $42 shipped. This works perfectly for downloading cache pages. Is this one still available? Not that exact one, but I have one just like it. Drop me a line if you are interested in it. TheBattons
  3. Just a quick note in regards to the criteria. In regards to : 3. Rechargeable batteries or disposable? By "rechargeable", I mean a battery that is sealed and part of the unit that gets charged by a USB connection, a wall charger, or while in it's sync cradle. For instance, the Zire 31 can be charged while plugged into a wall charger, or while the sync cable is connected to a USB port . I found a 12v cigarette to USB adapter that allows me to charge my PDA while I am in my car, allowing me to always have my battery topped off. By "disposable" I mean AA or AAA batteries that are replaceable. They could be Alkaline, NiHm, Lithium, NiCad, etc- some being rechargeable via a seperate battery charger, others being disposable. Hope that helps, TheBattons
  4. If you could post the manufacturer of the adapter, I'm sure someone here could find you the proper drivers.
  5. I have them both tentatively sold, waiting on payment for the second unit.... And it IS replaceable, if you can solder
  6. I don't work much with Pocket PCs, but doing some quick research, I've deduced yours runs Windows CE 2000. Compaq offered a free upgrade, try finding that instead of going out and spending money... That should be a way for you to use CacheMate and not pay a dime (hopefully!). Hope it helps, TheBattons
  7. Yes, I have other models, but if you require color, you are stuck in the same price range ($50-ish), and might as well go with a Zire 31. For what reason would you require color, if you only plan on using the PDA for caching? Color doesn't add any functionality (that I'm aware of) for CacheMate or Plucker. I have no problem selling a Z31 to you, I just want to be sure you will be happy with your choice in PDA. I do this (assist with and sell PDAs to cachers) to help improve the sport (game? pastime?) of geocaching, not to make money. If I can help you save some money, that's more trade goodies you can put in caches, and that helps us all! PS- One sold, one left.
  8. I have a couple left still.... Not to tell you what to do, but if you are looking for a second PDA for just caching, why not go with a M100, M105, M150, etc (IE., a less expensive option) than something with bells & whistles that increase your cost, yet will seldom get used? TheBattons
  9. I have 4 of them right now, 2 for sale, 2 for personal use
  10. Questions to ask yourself: 1. Do you need a USB connection or a serial connection? 2. Color or black & white? 3. Rechargeable batteries or disposable? 4. Will the PDA be used for anything besides paperless caching? When answering, be sure to be honest with "want" versus "need". Answer those questions, and I can suggest models that fit your criteria. (That goes for anyone looking fora PDA for paperless caching, just email me with your answers, I'll offer the "best fit" PDA. Cheers!
  11. Does the green light stay on when no being charged?
  12. Here is a good place to start: http://65.34.18.106/content.php?article.15 and another: http://www.ggaonline.org/resources/paperle...ss_caching.html Read through that then drop me a line, I'll help you determine what to look for in a PDA. I've helped lots of people get started with paperless caching, and don't mind helping more. Cheers!
