  1. That was the issue, she was just using cell and wifi, gps is off by default. Thanks for the help
  2. Thanks all, guess it is just me then! In answer to me being an expert on multis, I didn't claim to be. I have not found, or not worked out quite a few more. My point was why don't you just give the location like most co's do, but I guess it may be due to not having permission to place the cache in the first place, so an alternative site must be the cache location. I do know how to filter so I will do that from now on.
  3. Hi all, I tried finding a multi today, it put me right off them to be honest. I have only found a few multis, I feel they aren't worth the effort. By this, I mean that: They take extra time to find They don't offer anything new They end up just being another nano or film canister Some are too ambiguous with the clues Now if they were leading somewhere like a great area, or led to a great, unique cache then fine, but in my experience that isn't the case Does anyone else struggle to see the point? I have found caches that are great to find, like nice containers or nice camo that are standard, traditional caches, so why send me to a location just to get new co ords? I do see the point of a multi like " go here to get a tool, to use on cache which is here" type that I have seen on YouTube but nope, that doesn't reflect caches in my area! I guess I should just filter them out from now on and stop griping! When I create my caches, rest assured there won't be a multi in sight.
  4. My other half has a new phone, a htc one m3. Quite frankly, the gps is appalling. I use an iPhone 4s which is usually bang on with co ordinates. This new phone though is way out, like 700metres out in some cases. Has anyone else had the issue? Sounds like a faulty gps chip to me. She is using c geo as the app. I have suggested either returning it as faulty, or getting a samsung galaxy s5 instead. Thanks on advance for help!

  6. Wow, after checking, there's far more caches than i thought from my regular haunts! Portsmouth, UK, 1319 caches from my local address Will crack on in 2014, want to average 1 cache a day at a minimum.
  7. Have you looked at info related to the areas you intend to place caches? There are local and regional Geocaching groups, and many times, people have already done the research. Are you in the UK? If so, check around this site. The agreements are good reading, both for info about permission and reasons why permission was refused. The caches in the trees might be good. But for the others, don't bother. Thanks for your replies, Good ideas. I have had an email back approving placement in a public space. I am going to do 2 themes, quick, easy caches for those wishing to get their numbers up, and some harder ones for those who want a challenge. From finding my 50+ caches, i am getting bored with magnetic nanos on boring metal, so am hoping to have about 50% of my caches in interesting locations, and big enough to trade swag
  8. Hi all I understand you need to ask permission when placing caches, can I please have advice on the following placements: On a public road/street - Do i ask the local roads authority? How would i find out who owns the road? At a retail park - Management company of the park? How would I find this out? On a (dreaded) lamppost - Local council, or electric company? At a bus stop - bus company? What if several bus companies use the same stop? In the country - who do i ask if say i want to put one in a tree? On a tree by the roadside - who would i ask? Thanks in advance!
  9. Thank you to everyone for your helpful replies. K13 that was hilarious, and I see your point! I just know that i am in it for the long haul, and very addicted! Just had 7 no finds in a row though cos i didnt check recent logs saying they were missing, d'oh!
  10. Hi Hurricane, i am in southern UK and would be happy to receive one and take it to a nearby tb hotel. If i win some ebay auctions, i will be taking a trip there myself
  11. Hi all, I found my first cache on tuesday evening and i am totally hooked, i will be doing this for a very long time! (15 in 3 days now) I get around quite a lot in the south east area of the UK, and would like to become a volunteer cache approver. I have seen the map of the world, showing the volunteers, and i would be able to fill in a chunk of the uk which is uncovered. I have read the section on volunteers on geocaching website, which explains a bit, but not how to apply, apart from you can be nominated by forum members. Is there a link somewhere to start the process off please? TIA
