  1. Arh, I see its only changed a few weeks ago. Shame, it all looks Mickey Mouse now and without interesting debate. Whatever made them change it!
  2. A few Topics 'How can we improve the Geocaching web site?' etc but what about all the comments and threads that used to exist? An dpeoples probs and experiences with App? Has it been reduced to a dozen or so suggestions people vote on?!!
  3. Hi, been on them many times before but where are the forums for iphone application and general website updates & queries? Can only find archived iphone app forums at bottom. Must be going blind! Regards, Andrew
  4. Mine last run on 16th Jan but I also can't get it to run.
  5. Any success? Yes thanks, very promt service and everything had changed automatically. Well done support!
  6. Thanks guys, emailed yesterday to Support requesting change.
  7. Hi, I requested to change name about 2 years ago to add my wifes name to mine and was told it was not possible and that I would have to re-enter 150 caches. It seemed too many to enter (many photos uploaded as well). As there is a unique identifier used for each cacher, as an ex-programmer, I cant believe that it is not possible to alter and at a cache meet tonight, heard of a couple of instances where names have been changed. Please give details of who I should contact to enable this. Surely as a Premium cacher this is not a lot to ask - and if it is not deemed allowable, the programmers must be responsible should divorce arise - we have now done nearly 600 and all in my name!
  8. Out caching with PDA (Vario II) very hard to add finds online. All 3 views (one column, Fit to page etc) have page really spread and hard to find anything. Also printing misses left hand side of page (already reported). PDF missed important graveyard detail to be obtained! And no option for clue decrypted. I dont mean to be rude, but as an ex-programmer, I have to ask if proper testing on different peoples' PCs were done? Was there a beta test with our own members which surely would have picked up on many of these problems?
  9. Ditto, no caches in Google maps at all now, even local area that initially had them.
  10. I also have dozens of photos linked to entries, so resubmitting them all is not an option. As each person has a unique number identifying them within the site that is not shown (learnt through using GSAK - when obtaining Finds on PQs), as an ex-programmer, I would have thought the reference number could be retained and the corresponding Username changed?
  11. Limiting it to the county seems a little extreme unless you have trouble getting a visa for Cambridgeshire or Suffolk. (This is without wishing to restart the old debate about having UK counties cf US states.) I would keep the PQ the way it is and use GSAK to do the sorting. Yes but few hundred more to do in Essex before venturing 'up north' !!
  12. I can see that the date can be changed to reflect when found, but would the entry be placed in the correct order or rather at the top? I was rather hoping that the site webmaster 'may' be able to alter ones account leaving all entries in place with the updated name (like if you change an icon), but that would depend on how the site was programmed (speaks an ex-programmer!).
  13. When I run a Pocket Query from my home co-ordinates in the county of Essex England, 60 per cent are over the river in Kent, adding 50 miles to the distance by road (river 2 and a half miles wide so cant swim!) Is there any way other than moving my co-ords 20 miles North (losing handy 'distance from home'), to exclude those more than 10 miles South or to keep just the county lived in?
  14. Hi, When I signed up for GeoC it was exploratory, but 90 caches later I wondered if it is possible to change account name to reflect the family rather than a standard nasme I use for myself on most sites? Of course I would not want to create another account and lose the logging of those found and documented so far.
  15. Waypoints that the Garmin GPSr can see are not stored on the card in the normal sense. POI are, but you still will need to edit them on the PC and re-upload. Waypoints (a la uploaded gpx) live in the GPS itself. Thanks.
  16. Tried looking at caches on memory card by making GPSR mass-storage USB connection. New drive comes up (K) on PC but double-clicking shows no files at all. Am I looking at an empty GPSr or MicroSD card? Have GPX files gone onto an inbuilt memory maybe? Maybe you can only mange waypoints/caches by deleting individually on GPSr rather than PC looking at card?
  17. Thanks guys, I will try GSAK, GpsBabel and EasyGPS as soon as I am comfortable with the basic way using Mapsource. I have a softspot for Cachemate on my PDA which I will still use for immediate logging on geocaching.com of Found Status/remarks as I prefer to log it when found rather than when arriving home tired!
  18. Iv'e actually found Geocaching works very well in the field as set on the 60CSX. Before, I checked caches on website and PDA before going out and mindset was 'distance from home co-ordinates'. Obviosly now, when you get out of a car 20 miles away, the nearest ones are exactly what you want and the lack of true names less important as those you want will be in the first few in the list. I like the way that when marked FOUND they disappear, and you can go to the next easily. Is there a Waypoint Manager on the GPSr or do you need to set up Garmin as a mass-storage device and delete those not wanted or found via the PC? (Like Active Sync EXPLORE on a PDA or many non-Ipod mp3 players). I assume this would also give drag and drop capability between the device and the desktop for LOCS and GPX files? EDIT - see below, this did not work, so is deleting on GPSr onebyone (Using SHOW FOUND or SHOW alphabetically) the only way to clear non-wanted caches?
  19. In FIND it will show the first 50 nearest to you as the crow flies, --- unless you change the option to Find by 'Nearest Containing' then it searches alphabetically! It will take thousands of POI and hundreds of waypoints on the SD Card. Search this forum for the mass of detail for your unit. Any Help? Thanks, so they have all been imported, how do I locate a cache using FIND for one not in the 50 nearest? Or is there another way of directly entering the Waypoint required without FIND? Also, I dont suppose there is anyway the Cache Name can be imported using Mapsource rather than Waypoint code? (Been spoilt by CacheMate on PDA!) Full manual read tonight!
  20. Hi, Just received my first GPSr handheld this morning (been using PDA/TomTom receiver) and eager to try in field, I have downloaded a PocketQuery of 100 caches. Opened in MapSource (latest version) then transferred to 60CSx. Only 50 have transferred in GeoCs and Waypoint lists when using FIND. Surely there is not a limit? Apologies if this is covered in manual but I cant see in a quick browse. Secondly, Pocket Query brings in half from my county and half as the crow flies across the River Thames - over 30 miles to get round. Is there any other way of excluding these other than one-by-one deleting in Mapsource before transferring?
  21. I see, but there is no reason that Portrait thumbnails should be so pixelised, there is obviously a programming/processing error, who can be contacted to put it right?
  22. Example? Well, every one Ive ever put up or seen! try http://www.geocaching.com/seek/gallery.asp...e9-1cb92d716b12
  23. Hi, why is it that submitted picture Upright thumbnails are portayed so pixelated but Landscape ones are fine? (The actual full size portrait pictures are fine)
