  1. One of the most important things you need to remember is that a GPS is not a cache magnet. It will only get you close, say 20 feet or so is common then you have to look around for it. Another piece of advice is that if the pointer tells you to walk off the path and plunge through the thickets and it is rated a 1, don't be fooled into complying, just be patient and find the right and often easiest way. Above all good luck and have fun. It's easier than you think and more fun than you can imagine. The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.
  2. undermycouch.com uglymeancrotchity.net u-m-c.com umightcare.borg Don't really know. Just hijacking this useless thread to see if my yearly subscription has changed my login options. ...and wohoo it does The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.
  3. I forgot I'm not allowed to post to controversial subjects. See Freelens's post.
  4. We placed our first cache Thanksgiving morning. We came home and submitted it for approval at 11:30 A.M. and went out to a movie. When we got home at 4:30 P.M. the cache had already been approved and the first finder had logged it. Quick work. No time to be anxious. 5. I've been trying to get my stats correct for about a month. They are listed under a variation of my signon that I don't remember using but may have. Anyway I've sent emails asking for things to be fixed but so far, no luck. I apreciate someone taking the time to maintain a sight like this so I just accept it the way it is. Besides the more caches I get the less important 3 missing logs seem to be. The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

But I'm thinking for subsequent cashes that I may do leave-something-and-take-nothing, unless there's really somthing I'd like to have. I have loads of potential cache-fodder at home that I never look at but can't seem to bring myself to throw away. Has anyone else considered geocaching as a means of emptying out drawers of "perfectly good" but useless (to me) stuff? http://www.mi-geocaching.org/ I see you haven't placed a cache yet. You should try it. You seem to have enough stuff all you need now is to find a place, agonize over it for a month ( I'm in my 3rd week) and then put it out for others to find. This weekend will be #1,#2 and #3 for us. I hope. The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

Maybe not all but it is definately international in nature. Stop by anytime. The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

  12. If they park on the Hiway that's what evolution is for. You can only help some people so much. The question is will it be worth it when you get there. The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.
  13. Looking for someone in the Central or east central Florida area traveling to Texas, the Houston area in particular. I need to move a TB racer there. It's not mine, just 1 I picked up and lost my ride. Lemme know if you can help. The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

That'll put the hurt on a mac toy. But if it were tupperware it would have just melted into nothing or burned up, now you have a toasted usless can that needs to be removed from the forest. 17. My point is, there are more and more people joining this sport. If we were all use ammo boxes where would they come from? Obviously someone somewhere would need to use the ammo in them to free them up for caching. This means everytime you buy an ammo box, someone probably dies. If you use tupperware all that happens is that your leftovers get a little crunchy. I don't know about you but I can live with that. USE TUPPERWARE, SAVE A LIFE Oh yeah and peace man. 18. Just tsting You can't be lost if you don't care where you are.
  19. quote:Do you owe the people searching for your cache any duty? Did you breach that duty? Was your breach of that duty the proximate cause of their injuries? "it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks" Acts 26:14 Just as I suspected , personal liability is all a bunch of duty. You can't be lost if you don't care where you are.
  20. Why don't you all start your own web site for people who like to rate things? It would probably only take a year or so to sort out what everyone would agree is hard. Personaly using elevation gain to rate caches in Florida is a non issue, but the number of alligators, rattlesnakes, water moccasins and wild pigs encountered would work. For me: 14 found, 8 snakes, 2 alligators seen and most of those were in city parks. You can't be lost if you don't care where you are.
  21. If the rules state you shouldn't do this why are you asking if it's alright to do it? If it was a good idea then there probably wouldn't be a rule. Even for virtuals. There is currently a virtual at Disney's MGM. It requires you to make observations that currently can not be made due to construction. The person who started the cache is from out of town so had no idea what was going on and has no real ability to "maintain his virtual" As for real caches, if you can't visit them and keep them up then they are just litter. You can't be lost if you don't care where you are.
  22. I find for myself that I prefer to have a photo of the area of all my benchmarks. I am less happy with a find that has no pictorial value. Probably because I'm a photographer. I also enjoy looking through the photo album link on the benchmark page to see where people have been . For instance the picture of the team atop the Tetons with a picture of the benchmark. Now that's dedication. That said a find is a find if you are happy with it. You can't be lost if you don't care where you are.
