  1. I was trying to figure out what the tickmark icon is for on the waypoint list (in the cache details, between the navigate and the edit icon). Does anyone know? Thanks
  2. I am slowly moving from the old to the new app but was shocked to see that corrected coordinates (from the website) are not automatically displayed. How comes the new app can't do that while the old one does it without problems?? Very surprising.
  3. I do have the same issue (Geosphere and GSAK) and I am a Premium member until early 2014 still.
  4. "just use comon sens when placing hides." I think this is very true. If I need to "use stealth - high muggle area", then it is maybe not a good location for a cache or the CO should provide detailed guidance on how to best approach the cache without having to search for too long and look suspicious. Don't get me wrong: I am a big fan of tricky cache hides but not in areas where I would cause a lot of attention if I stay too long. I think urban caches have a different focus and a different audience compared to hides in the woods. The attractiveness of a cache increases based on the location, the hide, the story behind it, but not based on the likelyhood of being taken to custody. Just my two cents. danboss
  5. I would like to suggest that souvenirs are sorted by type on the Souvenirs site and each type gets a header (e.g. Countries, States, Anniversaries, etc.).
  6. I have the same issue with all my trackables (and I have set up around 10 on my profile page). The same happens by the way with the "cacherstats" logo.
  7. Don't hit me for this.... ... but I get the impression from visiting several caches just recently that Trackables get lost much more often in USA & Canada than in Europe. (personal assumption). Two observations make me think this way: 1. all Trackables I lost went missing in the U.S. or Canada (and not in Europe where I am from) 2. Cache inventories seem to be much less up-to-date (plenty of caches I came accross, indicating various trackables but in reality: nothing in there) Is it just the big number of cachers and caches in North America compared to the rest of the world? Or are users in this region just getting tired of moving trackables correctly (including the required logging)?? I have no clue what it is - it only makes me rather sad going from cache to cache and being disappointed all the time. I guess I will just have to live with it - but then I rather do not release any new trackables
  8. Dear EnduraExpert, Thank you very much for the quick response. I was able to resolve the issue in the meantime: it was related to the file-size (> 3MB). I have now downloaded the Pocket Query to GSAK and used a macro to split it up in chunks of 250 caches. This brought the gpx file size down to acceptable levels and finally I am able to see "my" caches in the gps! Would be good if the tool would support the new 1000-cache-gpx files once in a while Thanks danboss
  9. Hi all, I have the same issue as rasmus: when transfering a GPX Pocket Query from GC.com, all the caches get recorded as waypoints instead of Geocaches. I will try the .LOC option however I think this is quite strange as GPX should be the standard, no? Regards danboss
  10. Hi there, I use a stamp basically from the beginning on, however only on logs which support the size of the stamp. I would never use it on nanos or micros. Why do I use it? Because it makes the entry look "neat": It's a small logo and says "found by DANBOSS on ___ at __:__. IN: ___ / OUT: ___ . TFTC!" So if I am in a hurry or the log looks pretty full, I just complete the empty lines and that's it (so there is handwriting to a certain extent); if I have time (not a crowded place!) or I want to add further remarks to the owner, I stamp and add further comments. For me, this is a nice solution and I don't see, why this should be an issue. Besides that, I find it much more interesting to look at the various stamps and stickers in a log than to just see something like "8/25/09 - USER - TFTC". Regards danboss P.S. I used my local print shop to buy the stamp. The accepted my layout as a WORD-Doc and created it with no extra costs (i.e. was included in the price for the stamp).
  11. Hi, From time to time I come accross Cachers who find two or three digit numbers of caches in a single day. Very impressive!!! Is this just very good organization or rather a matter of high cache density, especially in the U.S.? It is hard to imagine for me that this would be possible, let's say in Europe, given the available caches. Best regards
  12. Thank you all for your feedback. I will leave for holidays anyway next week - let's see if I can collect a few caches in Alaska without upsetting my wife too much. Thanks
  13. Dear all, Apparently, one of my placed TBs went to Nirvana directly from its initial cache (based on comments by a cache visitor) I know it is possible but how do you cope with it? Did you have similar experiences? How can one actually think about keeping a trackable item? I would never do that... I am depressed Best regards, danboss the trackable: http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=2733261

  15. Dear all, I browsed various topics already in the GPS section, the Iphone section and as well google searches. Can someone absolutely positively confirm that it is currently not possible to save Cache-POI (e.g. from GSAK) on my TomTom Navigator on the Iphone? I just want to make sure that I do not have to look any further and might need to buy/rent a outdoor gps just for my holidays (issue: preventing roaming costs on the iphone).... Downloading all the maps/pictures individually throught the GC-app is unfortunately no option with approx. 200 caches in focus (unless you know a better solution). Best regards danboss
  16. Hi there, I always read, that if I would like to take something from a cache, I should place something else of similar or higher value at the same time. Does this apply as well to TB's and GC's or am I allowed to take them out without adding anything just to get them travelling? Regards, danboss
