I love your new coin and I would be interested in a trade! I especially love your yellow one. I, too, love the ginkgo tree! I even have several little ginkgo trees started from the original ginkgo tree in front of Frank Lloyd Wright's studio in Oak Park, IL.

Oh wow! This looks interesting and like everyone else, I certainly wouldn't mind finding one in any cache! There's nothing like a mystery coin to bring me out on a hunt.

Okay, I see I'm not alone in not receiving my coins, either. I guess I'll wait patiently for these, too.

How was your room and the hotel in general? Is it updated? Was your room as nice as the one in the picture? How was the food? I'm just leery because the last time I stayed in a "remodeled" Holiday Inn, it was a disaster!

Original Coin that was made for me. Back is untouched Buffalo. Yes I guess I should have possibly posted earlier in the process, looking at the die artwork one of the geocaching emblems would look nice inside the buckle. But hey we live and we learn, this is my firts attempt and I already have thoughts brewing for my next one. I will definately post earlier in here to get the thoughts from the regulars and those that have done this a bit. The back with the flag of Ireland wouldn't be a go for the emblem. All those elements are integral to the the design and each has a meaning. WOW!!! That coin is amazing!!! Your friend is indeed talented. Thanks for sharing the picture. I cannot wait for your coin to come out. I would love to trade my personal coin for yours and if not, I would consider buying one. I especially love personal coins. Congratulations on your new personal coin. You did a great job!

Although I am not as active in the forums as I once was, every now and then I get back to look through the forums to see what's going on. I kept wondering if I missed out on another GeoJelly group order, but it looks like nothing has been posted about getting more GeoJellies. So. . .Jim (Pghlooking) are you up for another round? I would definitely be in for some more of those little GeoJellies and I am sure others would be also. Please, Please, Please, With a GeoJelly on top! If anyone is interested in ordering the little GeoJellies again, please post here. Perhaps we can persuade Jim to come out of GeoJelly Retirement and run the show again.

I like your coin! Perhaps you could include a picture of the original nickel that was your inspiration for the coin. You are lucky to have such a talented and generous friend to carve a coin for you. I don't think many of us could say we have that kind of coin in our collection. That's awesome. I just have a comment: It might have been cool to have a Geocaching "G" inside the buckle on the hat or where the hand is placed on the back of the coin.

Okay, first, all of the wonderful goodies-yes, this was taken earlier today, so there is very little of it left. You cannot imagine how much resistance it took for me not to dig into this candy as soon as I opened the box. And for the Pièce de résistance-all of these wonderful Geocoins and Pathtags! Thank you so much Tank Hounds! It was so wonderful opening your package to find these wonderful Geocoins, Pathtags, and Candy. You cannot image how excited I was when I finally opened it. I loved all of the little boxes (pictured above) that had the Geocoins and Pathtags. How clever of you. Your kindness, generosity, time, and efforts are immensely appreciated. Where do you get those little steel cables and the things to attach to the cable? I have seen them attached to coins and TBs and I would like to get some. Anyone know where to get them? I have attached laminated cards and drilled the coins, too, but alas, they still go missing. Who knew?

I do the same thing. For the most part, I leave coins in caches as swag and I put a note in with it to let the Geocacher know this. I rarely feel that they are traded for their worth and I don't know why that is. I know someone traded a pencil for one of my personal coins. I felt it was worth more than a pencil, for pete's sake. In the beginning, I was naive enough to think that all geocachers were honest! I am not kidding about this either! It never entered my mind that someone would steal a Geocoin! (Boy, was I naive! ) However, after sending out 3, and having all 3 of them stolen within a very short time (one never made it out of the original cache that it was placed in), I decided it was too disappointing. Then, I met someone from Germany and had a coin placed with her in Germany. It traveled for a long time, but it, too, has disappeared. I have several in various countries now that are still traveling. It is a lot of fun watching my Geocoins travel abroad-especially when there have been pictures posted on the site. I have found that my coins seem to travel longer when they are NOT in the US-sad, but true.

My first purchases were from ebay. I saw was on ebay one night, just seaching for geocaching items and I saw Geocoins-it was love at first sight! Some of the coins I bought were: Blue Pi Red Pi North and South Pole Dressel Dragons Master of the Cache Mouth of the South Yeah, I went crazy. That's just a few off the top of my head. Then, I asked one of the people that I had bought about 5 coins from, where do these coins come from? He said he got most of them from the people on the Geocaching Forums. Of course, being the computer idiot that I am, I had no idea what the forums were, but I found out quickly and I have since bought many, many, more! Perhaps, too many. (Is that possible?) I need to find the time to sort though all of my coins because I have a lot of duplicates that would make some good trading material, especially since they include some of the older coins from 2005 and 2006 (that's when I got into Geocaching).

As far as this goes..."Your" die was made with the expectation that you would use it to buy coins from them...that's how they stay in business. If you asked them to make you a die so that you can take it elsewhere to get coins made, maybe they would charge you 5 times as much to have it made? I paid for a die. I bought coins from this coin manufacturer. I have no intentions of using the die for anything other than a display at my house. I think it is ridiculous to think that anyone would want one company to make a coin die for them and use that die to buy coins elsewhere. It is solely for display after the fact as far as I am concerned. And I still consider it my die, my coin.

How big are the coin dies? -- Relatively small, but super heavy. 4. If you didn't get the die(s) was it because the shipping was too much? --NO, see #1 5. Are getting personal coin dies different from getting coin dies that are manufactured for sale to the general public? -- NO 6. Am I the only person that ever wanted to have a coin die? -- NO Notice I threw in a yes. Not because I got any of my personal coin dies (3 personals, btw ). It's because we had one of our GeoCoinClub dies shipped over here to an artist. I recall discussing that we wouldn't be doing that again anytime soon, because of the cost. If I can find the cost, I'll post it. P.S. The artist is a regular here, maybe they'll remember TMA Here's a quick pic for size. This is only one of the four parts for the mold, but altogether it is VERY heavy. It is also shipped "Freight" for overseas/customs/etc. and who knows what gets tacked on extra for coming into the U.S. I do know that it's almost twice as much to come this way as to go back and it was over $50 to send back a die that was sent to me incorrectly. How big are the coin dies? About 5" across by 3" deep (each side) plus the mounting block, edge ring and striking pin. Big enough that I would warn anyone against thinking they might mount it on the wall or something with out extra, extra enforced bracing. Thanks DresselDragons and Ford Freak for posting a picture of a coin die. I have never seen one. They look pretty cool. Do you have any idea of the die size in inches? Lenore, do you remember how the dies were shipped?

Whilst we pay a die fee I've never assumed that we physically own the die itself. I would assume that the mint tretains it to ensure that you don't use it to get someone else to strike coins from it and that they most likely recyccle them at the end of their life. If you don't "own" the die when you pay for it, then what are you paying for? Not that I would get more coins struck from another company, but even if I did, I don't really understand what business it is of that company, should I choose to do that. I paid them for their services and it shouldn't matter to them what I choose to do with the die.

How big are the dies? I don't know how big they are but consider the job. You take a blob of metal and smash it into shape using the dies. They work like anvils. Thus have to be large enough to take the beating and have enough mass so they do the smashing well enough to form the coin. I did not know the metal was smashed into shape; working like anvils. I thought they were like molds and that melted metal was pored into the die, then excess metal was "squeezed" out of the die. That's what I love about the forums, I'm always learning new stuff!
