  1. Well it's not my place to say it, but DING Master Mariner, it couldn't be anything but right. Looking forward to seeing your next post Edit to say Painted Lady is the name of a butterfly but I would like to ask Nediam the relevance of manor and witch in his clue? Oh and what is the TV series ?, just out of curiosity.
  2. Well I already knew it wasn't Australia and I already figured it had to be Northern Hemisphere - but TV series?? afraid that isn't going to help me one bit.
  3. Those look like Jacqueranda trees, so I was thinking East Coast Australia - but they drive on the same side of the road as we do. Not sure witch way to look ??
  4. Wrap the coin in a cardboard sleeve and tape that inside a bubble mailer, that should see it arrive safely.
  5. This is a remote part of the Central Highlands, are you getting warmer or colder ??? Name the Earth Cache shown in the image.
  6. Thank you for the clue - in which case the big white building is the PSA Peugeot Citroën Vigo Plant in Spain, the stadium is the Balaidos Stadium and the cache is GC1FC9E Parque de Castrelos. I think There just happens to be a big water fountain frog in that park
  7. I don't speak the language and not even sure if these are still available but it looks as though you can customise these coins to have your own text added. Customised Coins A better link here. And any of the coins on this page can be customised.
  8. I too used a key ring arrangement, into which I placed a copy of the coin, the image reproduction wasn't the best and does not do the real coin justice, but it does mean the 'coin' can still circulate and folk can obtain the icon if they decide to discover or move the coin.
  9. Congratulations to the winner, and thanks for a quick, fun, cointest
  10. That would be Beach-Wall GC1HNBC near to Monastir
  11. It is only natural to feel a little (or even a lot) let down by the thoughtlessness of others, those that come here to prey on others are I believe in the minority. There are a great many more that are generous to a fault, caring and considerate people. I don't participate in missions any more because of the minority of people that spoil them, however it will not stop me preparing my own little mini missions for those that demonstrate a real passion for coins and geocaching. It is always difficult to exclude unsavoury characters, whether in a forum, a golf club or your local gym. Just give them a wide berth and remember the nice things that happen here.
  12. A surprise package from Tsunrisebey Thank you so much.
  13. My understanding was that these coins were gifted as a way of saying thank you for services provided or someones contribution to geocaching, if, as you say, they are freely available to anyone who has put their hand out for one then imho they don't have any special status. Groundspeak however told me directly that these coins were given as gifts and because of that they did not wish to see any of them sold. Is it so surprising that people are confused ?
  14. I fully support Groundspeak selling merchandise and coins, I just don't understand why they have chosen to sell this particular coin, when previously you could not even 'own it' under your own account - they were deemed special, special enough that Groundspeak themselves requested that they not be sold. Maybe they figure that because of the perceived 'special' status of this coin in the past it will sell well - it certainly looks as though there are plenty of interested buyers, maybe that was reason enough. I have a medal - it was given to me for a special service that I voluteered for, my father also has this medal, because he too volunteered for the same service - if anyone could now go and purchase that medal - it makes a mockery of the ones that were given to recognise service. At the end of the day its just a geocoin and it really doesn't matter a whole heap - but if I ever see my medal being sold for commercial gain, that's another matter !
  15. So true - but when someone new to the forums spots a coin they really really like, do you suppose they are going to sit here and trawl through posts to determine if the vendor is worthy of their business, I doubt it, they are likely to rush off to make a purchase before they are all sold, but if you have done that - do come back and take the time for a good look around, people's true character will eventually show through.
  16. I have to agree but it is a very nice design. I think it is a shame to see these go on general sale, I'm sure Groundspeak could come up with any number of designs for commercial coins, these were originally minted and gifted as a reward to people to say thank you for something special they had done or contributed to 'the game'. As a recipient of such a coin I would treasure it, sure some have popped up on ebay, that's life, but to see Groundspeak profiteering from these coins - kind of devalues the thing, anyone can have one if they trump up ten bucks. No thanks.
  17. what is the pretty one with the park bench and flowers?? As already stated by Da Funky Frogs, it is The Peters Trio coin, I was lazy when posting and only showed one side of it, you can see the other side in my post #15555.
  18. I'm sure as individuals they care very much indeed, from a business point of view they will employ people to conduct damage limitation so that as a company they do not suffer too greatly financially - that's business. This coin has certainly made us all think a little bit more about our environment today, which is definitely a good thing.
  19. The Peters Trio coin, great coin - I just love those fish and a trade from Pingos, another Tsun spectacular thank you.
  20. Ah - so much more understandable when an explanation is given ! But he just ain't so cute in black - but I guess that also gets the message across, kind of !
