  1. Add another one to my list. YYYyyyyyiiiiiippppiiiiiieeeeeeee Now 84.13% HOG and increasing!
  2. Sorry I have to sign out. Cell phone went off. New cache published. Must run. Will bump up from 83.95% HOG to 84.13% HOG. Up, Up and away!
  3. I pretty much cannot imagine a worse choice of words for you there. Stunningly bad. I'll remind you: Thanks mtn-man! Back to the topic at hand. I am 83.95% HOG
  4. Precisely what I was thinking all along. What if there are some locals, who have a competition about FTF's going? Who is it to tell the top FTF-dog to "stay down" so that some half-retarded cacher-kid can get its own "real FTF" and meanwhile, his competition goes ahead and takes the lead? That's just not right. So keep at it, ignore those super moms and FTF as hard as you can! Jan WOW! 83.95% HOG
  5. Log from someone that gave me a call the other night: This is a CO FTF with several after being shut out at Where'd The Highway Go? Wife saw both pop up so I called TFF and asked if I had a chance or was he already on the way. He was kind enough to let us cache with him. So grabbed all the family and flashlights and GPSrs and away we went. No drunken bee dance on this one. Quick find. I may be 83.95% but I share. Well sometimes
  6. I considered it. If it only bothered you when that actually happened, then that would make sense. But I'd estimate over 90% of the complaints I read here about people being into it for the numbers, and how bad that is, involves nothing detrimental to the game at all. Most of the time you folks just act like you're upset that someone else has a higher score, even though the numbers aren't a score at all. In the 4th post I stated I looked up to these folks. I also felt they were like my mentors. I had never even talked to them before. I tried to follow their posts, logs etc. I wanted to learn more and felt this was a good way to do it. Their numbers to me, WOW was I impressed. The accomplishments WOW. I thought a lot of planning and work went into their cache runs. There was so much I could learn from them. A DNF IS A DNF! I am not mad about their numbers it's how they got them that upsets me. I had a thought yesterday when a new cache was published. I can grab a film can, sign a piece of paper, put it in the film can, head to the store to run my errands and toss the can out the window on my way. Return home and log FTF. The problem I ran into was the new cache was over 20 miles away and the store was only 2 miles. I chose not to do it. Does that make me a puritan? It is all the same. Call it what you will.
  7. I want to thank everyone for their input. The discussions sum up my thoughts, opinions, ideas and understanding of the overall situation. I feel better. Again I did not want to come across as the C police but what is right is right and what is wrong is wrong. I should not let it bother me but I try to be as honest as I can and do things in the accepted manor. See below. March 4 by The finch farmers (214 found) I am logging this as a DNF. I drove to the west side. I never got out of the car. Went to the east side. Never got out of the car. I could not get as close as I hoped and did not have time for a hike. Had to get to the Moulton Locker to pick up some meat. Very nice area and we will be back. Thanks for the hides. Hey is there any fish in there? Again thanks for everyone's time and thoughts.
  8. The practice is more common than you realize. And the hilarious thing is that they make believe they are performing a service. I was told they did it as a favor.
  9. This sounds totally bizarre...so they actually carry around ready to drop caches in case they cant find a cache? And then drop their own cache because they either don't have the time to continue searching or think the cache is not there? HOW LAME I would delete their found log and also keep their cache container. Yep thats it. Too each their own but in my mind not right!
  10. One weekend they come to town. A cache was actually gone. They dropped one in its place and logged as found. I called one of them and told him I would pick up their drop cache and return it to him and placed an SBA on the cache page due to the fact the owners have left the area and are not taking care of anything. They show up the following weekend and log a whole bunch more. I get a call on one of mine for a hint from a local cacher. I check back later in the day with the cacher and he tells me he indeed found it. It was not my container. I stopped to check on it and low and behold no new logs on my cache but about 8’ away is another cache they dropped off as a favor. I would have thought after the 1st call the same thing would not happen a week later.
  11. Thats my point. You hit the nail on the head! I do not want to be the cache police. I guess it is just a little disheartening. Edit to add: I looked up to them. They had my respect and I thought they were what it was about and how it was done. I followed their post, comments etc. LIVE AND LEARN I GUESS
  12. A cacher or maybe a team of cachers comes to your area for a hunt. They do not find the cache at the posted coord’s. Instead of a DNF a cache is pulled out of their pocket or pack, log signed and dropped at that location. This is then logged as a smiley. No mention of cache replacement. Example 1 – The cache was actually gone. Example 2 – Original cache was available 8’ away from the cache they signed and dropped off. I have handled this with emails but I am wondering if I made this a bigger issue than what it actually is. Yes I realize we should follow some rules and let others play as they wish but this just does not sit well. Thanks for any thoughts or opinions.
  13. The more time you spend doing this it will make more sense. I find that most of the time when I am having problems finding the cache it is do to me and my tunnel vision. Quote from one of my logs: Had to make an early trip to Eldon. Well I knew right where I was going as usual. Did not need to use the gps because I knew right where it would be. After not finding it I fired up the unit and as always I was about 100+ feet away. WRONG side of the depot. WRONG Choo Choo. WRONG WRONG WRONG Well I found it. Nice hide! Nice location and city park. TFTC SL Notes to self: 1. Do not assume, because you are usually wrong and a long way a way! 2. Use gps when provided! 3. When you are right more than likely your wrong and don't have a clue! You will have good days and bad days when caching. Keep in mind for the most part the bad are still good
  14. It's not needed but I'm sure most would like it. If you have time do what makes you happy I will If they did several of mine on the same day and I have time. My 2 cents
  15. Below is a note I put on my cache page. You decide if they work. July 14, 2008 by The finch farmers (206 found) No dumping please has been recovered. It is a Lock and Lock container. It has been under floodwater since June 11th, 2008 until today’s date of July 14, 2008. All contents inside were completely dry with absolutely no moisture inside of it. It had a business card lying in the bottom of the container. No water spots or stains found on the card. Ammo cans might be the best for long term but L n L containers do one heck of a job also! As soon as I feel the area is ready to receive visitors this will be enabled.
  16. Private message or Email the people in your area. I am sure several would like to get together. Also look at your upcoming events, It looks like RHB (Red Headed Basset) is in your line of work. Welcome, have fun and good luck! Randy
  17. More work for admin to bring the caches back when archived? They do not need more work. Have admin take the day off and see what kind of complaints that creates.
  18. A little late but welcome back!! Hope things continue to improve!!!
  19. Bump, It's that time of year. Happy holidays to all!
