  1. Great Blog! No Geocaching Blog, instead, I have a Photography Blog that I just started adding some Geocaching things in! Check it out here! Emerald Creek Photography Blog I'll be adding more Geocaching items in the upcoming weeks along with more photos! Enjoy! BlAcKrOk
  2. I think it is the nature of the game! You will always have cachers who love nothing more than pulling up to a cache, get out of their vehicle, and sign the log! Some are not meant to be trailblazers! I fall into the other end of the spectrum! I rarely ever seek a micro, as I like to find small containers & ammo cans in the wilderness! Getting out into the countryside & rural areas is my preference, but would not be opposed to hunting a micro if the mood strikes! ( BTW - I have plenty of bug spray, jeans, & hiking boots for the hunt! ) BlAcKrOk
  3. I also use the Palm TX. Have had mine for over a year, and have had no problems so far! I use Cachemate, GSAK, and Delorme Topo maps on the Palm as well! Using these, you can set up the Palm for the ultimate paperless caching experience! I currently have 3 different areas loaded into the Palm for my different caching areas. Georgia (where I live) (200 caches) Tennessee (vacation) ( 200 caches) and a new one for Maine where we will be vacationing in September! (200 caches) You can load Cachemate, and the other programs from your Laptop, or Desktop, using your Palm software! Also, the caches will show up on the Delorme topo maps on your Palm as well! Hope this helps! BlAcKrOk
  4. I remember searching for this can as well, since I have one too! I think it is a Swiss Rocket Tube from WWII! (circa 1940's) Mine is missing the latch, but could not pass it up for $1.50 I remember there being a picture of a backpack that could hold 3 or 4 of those as well! Found mine at an antique shop in Pigeon Forge Tn. Hope this helps! BlAcKrOk
  5. I use the Palm TX that I originally bought for work! It has Wi-Fi, and the external memory card. The Wi-Fi is usable but will never beat the real estate of a laptop screen! I mainly use it along with cachemate to hold a number of caches, along with the descriptions, hints, co-ords, and the ablity to edit in the field what items were taken or left! (handy if you do multiple caches per day!) (The older you get, the more you forget! ) It also will allow you to use DeLorme Street Atlas Portable to get street level maps for any areas you can load to your external card! It will also read the Topo maps from DeLorme as well! I currently have the Topo map to the Morristown, Tn. area loaded, along with the caches in the area, and they show up on the maps as well! Also have purchased and use GSAK as well! (Great little program) GSAK is used to convert pocket queries to a form that DeLorme can read! Hope this helps! BlAcKrOk
  6. Not to worry, DNF's are part of the game, but I find that the more I cache, the better I am at picking out probable hiding spots! Use the GPS to get to the general area, then start thinking "where would I hide something here" , works pretty good most of the time! BlAcKrOk Emerald Creek Photography
  7. WOW great pix!!!! come on up and see Niagara Falls...leave a few for us to enjoy and take some photos on 3 sisters and from the observation deck. Scott Would love to get up that way for all the excellent photo ops! But unfortunately won't be traveling that way for the immediate future. Thanks! BlackRok
  8. Here are my BlackRok sig cards for 2006 & 2007! I am an outdoor Photography enthusiast, and have many locations & subjects to choose from. I thought this would be an ideal way to share some of these places! The plan is to have a different photo each year, or sooner if I get in the mood to change it! I cache mostly in Georgia, but have dropped some of the 2006 design in Tennessee, and the Lehighton, Pa. area! All of the cards are printed on inkjet glossy photo paper and laminated before dropping off! BlackRok
  9. SeaOtter12, I also have the Explorist 210! Here's what I do, 1. Attach cable to back of explorist (cable pointing down) 2. Plug cable into USB port on computer 3. Turn on Explorist 4. Proceed as usual I have followed this procedure every time, and the explorist is always recognized as a storage device! Hope this helps! BlackRok
  10. I have the Explorist 210, and though only finding 4 caches so far, I enjoy this model. The reception is great, even in heavy cover, and the USB connection is another big plus to upload your caches. My only regrets are not having the Electronic Compass, and the color screen! I have a friend who may wind up being a convert to Geocaching, so I may have a chance to upgrade in the future.
