  1. I have to agree with The Leprechauns, Quest Master caches are not only some of the most scenic areas of SW PA, but also his are in places of historic interest usually.
  2. I'm also a home brewer, so I'm all for it. Family caches are nice, but do all caches have to be toys for kids? There's no reason why adults can't share recipes or beer memorabilia. I commonly trade trinkets that I gather from beer festivals, (key chains, bottle openers, etc.) I don't see why it would be a problem.
  3. I enjoy a 2-3 mile hike with a little history involved. It's nice to find an old school house, grain mill, or even a grave marker in the woods with a story included in the cache. It's like two finds for the price of one!
  4. I stumbled upon a couple in Maryland once, they were right on the trail, ski trail that is, there was about a foot of snow at the time, and they had been xc skiing. I chose to bushwhack to avoid surprising them, but after walking for hours through the snow up and down hills without ever finding the cache. In hindsight I probably should have waited and stayed on the trail. It didn't offend me at all though, we were probably the only three in the woods that day, so no harm done. In light of the British past time of "dogging", I'm surprised there aren't event caches dedicated to this spectator sport! Or are there some out there that I just don't know about?
  5. I concur with Renegade, I tried to do the eco-friendly thing, but I always have to carry a set of fresh alkalines with me. I bought the Grandcells over the internet with free charger included. It seemed like a good deal but the usable life of a charge in my e-trex vista isn't very long!
  6. Sorry, I should have mentioned which program I had. I have the US topo with 3 cds, but the installion program is only on the first cd and it won't let me copy that on to my harddrive, but the other two still request the cd even after copying them.
  7. Does anyone know how to copy mapsource cds to a harddrive to avoid putting a disk in everytime I use it? The directions say to perform a full install, but that is not an option when installing, and when copying the entire disk to harddrive the program still won't recognize it. Any suggestions?
  8. I've had Tubbs' mountain series for seversl years now, and I love them! I chose thes because of the lifetime warranty for one thing. The extra aggressivee crampon really helps. Ease of straps/ buckles is also very important, remember that you'll be wearing gloves so make sure which ever pair you choose is easy to use.
  9. I thought we were supposed to take them and place them someplace else to see how far they travelled?
  10. I guess I'll have to find someplace else to hide the bodies. What will they ruin next?
  11. Has anyone cached disposable cameras and found them to have adult material on them when recovered? I was curious about this before leaving a camera.
