  1. Thanks for the laugh, Mushtang. I always suspected that this game attracted people who are as geeky as I am! (Not that there's anything wrong with that!)
  2. Hola, I need to purchase a new GPSr because my elderly Garmin eTrex is slowly dying (turning itself off without warning and such). We went to Mountain Equipment Coop (the Ottawa location) because we figured that the staff there would have more expertise and less bias than those at other stores (Canadian Tire, Walmart, department stores, etc.). We found two models that we liked (Garmin eTrex Legend and the Legend CX) but we were steered away from the Magellan models by the sales person. Two questions...1. The salesman we dealt with seemed unfamiliar with the Magellan models...they seemed clumsy to work with and not as user friendly as the Garmin models...is this because the models are more complicated to use, or is this because we and the salespersons were unfamiliar with the controls? 2. After visiting MEC, we stopped of at Canadian Tire and found that the same models that we looked at at MEC were slightly less expensive there than at MEC. Is the service at MEC worth the slightly higher prices ($20-$30 more)? Thanks for any help, Karey
  3. Thanks all for your help. For the upcoming event, we are looking for only new caches that are being placed specifically for this event, which I didn't mention in my original post. We'll definately take the advice of riding our bikes if that makes it easier (most of the main bus routes here in Ottawa have bike racks), and we have found that the Ottawa transit system does indeed offer a one day, all-access pass that we will likely invest in. Although we've been putting off going in for the premium membership, it does seem like this event may make it well worth our while, simply so that we can access the caches along a route feature. Thanks for the tips, and keep them coming! TY- Karey
  4. SO and I are only getting started in our careers and do not own or have access to a car on a regular basis. Although this gets us alot of much needed excercise, anyone have any tips for us using only public transportation and walking for caches? We have an Ottawa Go and Get'em event (find as many caches as you can in 24 hours) coming up, and we'd love to be competitive. We're both in good shape and are used to walking for 6 or 7 hours at a time in difficult terrain. Any tips? TY- Karey
