  1. I also remember Larry. My thoughts and prayers are with his daughter.
  2. GxProxy is sold out of this coin and suggested that I try the Geocaching.com forums to see if anyone has a set for sale. The coin was produced in 2012 and sold out sometime in 2013.
  3. Hello, New fan of Geocoins (only took 8 years) and a big fan of Christian Mackey's designs... I am seeking a full set (all three finishes with proxy stunt doubles) of unactivated "Waldgeist is Watching" Geocoins, designed by Christian Mackey and produced by GxProxy. I don't have any coins to trade so this would be strictly a purchase. Please send PM if you have a set you wouldn't mind parting with. Thank you, KRnlKilR

  5. I will be in site 105. See you in September.
  6. I've never attended an Indiana Spring Picnic. Maybe, if I remember, I'll attend next year.
  7. Is the camping area wooded, or grass?
  8. Uh, no... I'm willing to bet Chris (NEOS1) has already got his in tune... and the song to go with it.
  9. Do we have any contestants for the talent show?
  10. Moonshimmer's mama is still in a transitional nursing facility so I may come alone... don't know for sure. I'm trying to send my registration but having problems with my mail server from school. I'll try sending again when I get home. I do want two large T-shirts (which are supposed to be ordered by today). Also, I wanna play GeoSurvivor again this year. KRnlKilR
  11. I guess Moonshimmer and I will take campsite #17. I'm sending in my registration now. KRnlKilR
  12. I gave up on getting it back. I purchased a new Garmin 62s on Saturday. What a great excuse for an upgrade. KRnlKilR
  13. I gave up on it on Saturday and replaced it with a Garmin 62s. Super sweet "upgrade!". Thanks to everyone who took the time to read my post. KRnlKilR
  14. Hi, I just returned from the Midwest Geobash in Wauseon, OH. As luck would have it, the belt clip which I use with my GPS broke, and I dropped my GPS somewhere on the event grounds after sundown on Saturday night. I am looking for my lost Garmin 60 CSx w/ memory card. I am offering a reward of $100, plus the cost of shipping it back to me. My missing GPS is in great shape with just some slight wear on the rubber around the bottom. I can provide the serial number as proof of ownership. If you, or anyone you know, has found my missing GPS while attending the 2010 Midwest Geobash, please contact me via my GC profile to arrange the receipt of your reward and my shipping address. Thank you, KRnlKilR

  19. I would have to look at this as a double-edged sword. On one hand, an article about Geocaching on the news exposes the public to the sport. An informed public is less likely to call the police or bomb-squad just because they see some person slipping into the hedges near the post office with a funny looking device in their hand. They may understand that the person is a geocacher searching for the box of goodies. On the other hand, such a mindset of the public may acutually expose Geocachers to more negative thoughts. Look at that grown man or woman tromping down the flowers or tearing up that nice tree, or damaging the statues in the park for what? A plastic box with novelty items? Along with those people will be some who may acutally witness criminal activities and not report them because they think the criminal is just a geocacher doing his thing. I started geocaching about the time it was becoming more mainstream. The age of anonymity was coming to a close as the bloom of caches being placed exploded. This was a great time to get into the sport as there were literally thousands of caches to be found with new ones being posted. Gone were the days of having to wait two weeks for a cache to be placed within 10 miles of the house. But, also gone were all of the pristine places to place a new cache. I haven't been able to get a cache published in months because I haven't found a spot lately that someone else hasn't already thought was a good place for a cache. (That's fine with me... as long as the beauty of the area gets shared, I'm good with that.) So, I'm glad to see a positive news article about our great sport, just as long as the public sees it in a positive light.
  20. Hey Tony, where do you live in Louisville? There are several upcoming events that you may want to attend. You will have to opportunity to meet a lot of Louisville and Southern Indiana geocachers. There is an event (called a Trail Mix) coming up this weekend, January 17th at Monroe Lake in southern Indiana. You can find out more about the event here: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...69-fb99dcb06f6b The other event, which is more local to Louisville is the InKy Geocachers, who meet the third Tuesday of every month (except December), at various local restaurants for food and conversation. This months event, which is scheduled for Tuesday, January 20th at 6:30 PM at the Ryan's Steak House on Bardstown Rd. You can find out more about that event here: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...c0-cbda7fc2257c If you'd like to just kick a few simple ones around town, let me know and we can arrange a time to meet somewhere and find a few to help you get the hang of it. Just send me an email through my GC Profile. I also sent you a message to your email via your GC profile. Take care.
  21. WAY TO GO, DAGGY! CONGRATS!!! (Now we know why the websites really aren't up-to-date. You've been playing outdoors again... ) All the best!
  22. As some of you in Kentucky may have heard, City of Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson announced in December that the Otter Creek Park would be closed in an effort to save the city $180,000 through June 2009. Otter Creek Park, approximately 30 miles south of Louisville in Meade County, is a heavily wooded park which features caves, a rock quary, scenic views of the Ohio River and home of the YMCA's Camp Piomingo and the Girl Scout's Camp Tall Trees. The park was a gift to Louisville from the federal government after World War II for the city's support of Fort Knox. Mayor Abramson claims the city spends close to 1.1 million per year operating the park. For years the mayor has been trying to shed the park, either by giving it away to Meade County or Fort Knox and selling it to a private investor. The State of Kentucky has looked at purchasing the park and making it a Wildlife Management Area, open to fishing and hunting, which is currently banned in the park by the City of Louisville. Meade County is only interested in taking the park, which is within their county line, if they can develop it for residential and idustrial interest. Fort Knox has said they would like to see the park stay open, but they are not in a position to take control of the park due to lack of funds, and the fact that they already have a park with a lake that is available to soldiers, their families and invited guest. A grass roots effort is underway to save Otter Creek Park - The Friends of Otter Creek Park. There will be a meeting Monday, December 5, 2008 at the Southwest Government Center, 7219 Dixie Hwy #106 in Southwest Louisville at 7 PM. At the meeting topics and ideas will be explored to save the park, raise funds and get the park re-opened, as well as some business to actually elect a board of directors, committees and sub-committees. I encourage anyone who can attend to do so. The reason I post this is because Otter Creek Park is very Geocaching Friendly. They welcome geocaches and earthcaches in the park as it allows the visitor to explore nature first hand and up close. Additionally, this park has been the summer camping home of generations of children and adults, including myself. If you live in Southern Indiana, the Louisville Metro, or surrounding counties, I urge you to attend the meeting and help keep this park open. For more information you can visit http://saveottercreekpark.wordpress.com/. Thanks, KRnlKilR Louisville, KY

  24. I've never had any issues with selecting "My Home Coordinates". I tried one just now, and the preview worked fine. But, maybe it's a sporadic bug. It didn't used to be a bug... at least, not known to me. Seriously, I should have to enter my home coordinates every time I want to run a PQ for caches near my home. First, I don't remember them and will have to look them up every time (though I guess with the repitition, I would eventually have them memorized). Second, I shouldn't have to enter them when I want to run a PQ. The 'Home Coordinated' radio button is right there. If it is a known bug, why can't Groundspeak fix it? That's what we're paying them for...
  25. I haven't set any filters in the PQ other than set the query to show me 100 caches within 10 miles of my home coordinates. Nothing is returned.
