  1. For me it's 7.5 to 14 miles. 12 are either Tteepe's or Johnboy's on top of stinking mountain caches which I hope to get to this fall. As soon my six year old forgets about Catrock and Athena's cache. One I need a lake to freeze. One's a micro in a park that I've done the other 5 and not going to bother with. Two I might do today. Thanks
  2. Done Hudsons folly and Turkey. Sleepy Hollow has been on my to do list since 2002
  3. When I was on the Antibiotics for lyme, is when I bought my first GPS. Started caching the next week. Then broke my leg at the house and was on crutches the next 6 months. Lymes is bad when it goes undetected or ignored those folks get pretty messed up. Houses are also bad stay outside.
  4. Congrats see you at next event.
  5. FTF gets a choice of the good stuff. Finder 200 get coins Europe dosn't want anymore and rusty stuff.
  6. I picked up a decon container yesterday. It was attached to a red wire comming out of a lamppost. I froze then slowly turned the container and realised it was just cliped to it. But alot of things ran thru my head that this thread was pondering. except the later part which my mind is usually occupied with.
  7. Back to the original question. I use it with my Kids they are usually all over the place. You don't have to keep them in line of sight. The wife gets mad when I come home without them
  8. I'm in Oklahoma city right now. There's a micro you can do without leaving the car. All said I'm still going to try it. I brought 6 TB's with me it's going to take a while to find caches big enough. The puzzle caches require college algerbra. I perfer Perfect Tommy's Thomas the tank engine. Then again I have three weeks of no house, pets and family obligations to go caching
  9. Waiting for car to take me to the airport. Thanks for the help . Should see our name logging on to caches soon.
  10. I"ve had my yellow etrex hooked to a laptop with Delorme street atlas. Tracked our flight across the Great Plains (US). To the side topic, changing the tire size on your vehical could throw off the "speedo"
  11. I was planning on going down to the Lawton area. I'll do some reseach on Red Rock. During the weeks I was planning on the city. But weekends I want to do road trips. I have an zire pda I got for buying tires. I'm trying to go paperless. Thanks for the info
  12. Going to be in OKC next week for three weeks starting next week. No Wife Kids House Pets etc. might be able to get some caching done. In the Northeast ticks are a major problem. Gps signal lost to forests and lots of hills. 80% of caches here are in stone walls or under rotting logs. Don't recall a lot of those out there. I know it's going to be a lot hotter than I'm used to. But any advice, common sense stuff I might over look while I'm out there that would be helpful. Thanks
  13. I rather have company. Somtimes I just have the dog. Work is sending me to OKC for three weeks so it's sit in hotel or solo cache. I'll be caching (if I get this pda/paperless cache stuff figured out)
  14. There is a beta version of the software that has a much bigger pointer. Check Garmin downloads
  15. There are still a lot of them out there. I've ran into 3 It's always nice when somthing different comes along
  16. I have a pack for the dog. I can put a few bottles of water, trail mix, cloth dog bowl. People tend not to scared of dogs with packs. The only problem is if there's a lake, stream, swamp or large puddle he's in it.
  17. Having a list is great but the thing you need that day is what you forgot.. I keep a vest with pockets stuffed with things. My car is filled with supplies. A walking stick is great, batteries, compass. I always forget the cell phone. I have a pocket filled with ziplock bags because I had to cross a river and didn't want the electronics to get wet. Been there for a year never used them again. It all depends is how much junk you want to be draggging through the woods.
  18. I e-mail first . The only time I had a problem was with inacurate info. The E-mail took care of it.
  19. I've seen my compass point one way and distance go down walking the other. I 've upgraded and my best method is having a 9 year old using my old yeller. Working two units helps. And finding micros in the woods should be another thread.
  20. I use delorme Street atlas and Topo with my old yellow etrex. You can download all way points and tracks to it with no problem. I keep my laptop in the car with the etrex hooked to it. The 15inch laptop is alot better than the little screen on my new 60cs. Topo is great in finding better routes to caches in hilly areas. I've also used it in cross country flight.
  21. you guys are quick. I checked my e-mail and came straight to this page and there is already a thread on it. cool!
  22. Only met you once but it was one heck of an event. I have problems with Jerey roads. Enjoy going home
  23. Sorry to hear. Condolenses from the pack.
  24. I don't know if can do yellow etrex to usb. Doing it to a serial port you just need one cable. The cheapest way to get it is E-bay. There is also a sight that shows how to make your own. I use a yellow etrex hooked to a laptop with XP and Delorme topo. It's great while driving around trying to find road to get to a cache.
  25. I've had mine for less than 24 hours this thread is been useful. I've upgraded to3.30 to 3.40. I've gotton the new version of easy gps. The thing I can't figure out is how to download gpx files eveytime I try I get loc. files I am a premium member I need to fill this puppy up the weekend is almost here.
