  1. I had a Legend C until I rolled my ATV on it. It still worked but it was busted up. When I went to replace it what I found out was that they quit making the Legend C because they upgraded the Legend C to include a 64 MB microSD memory card, rather than built-in memory. This allows the use of additional cards to greatly expand the geographic coverage of uploaded maps. So they decided to just produce the Legend Cx.
  2. The main thing you would need to make sure of is that you are using the right DATUM for where you are in Europe or the USA. As they have already said it doesn't matter where you buy the GPS. [/b]private solictation removed by moderator[/b] Good Luck!
  3. I like the Garmin Legend because it has 8MB of memory, easy to use, and the price is down around $119.00.attempt at private solicitation removed by moderator

  8. I don't know about wisconsin but I use the Mapsource United States TOPO on my ATV ridges in Utah and it works rather well. If they are new trails there not on there but it gives me a good referance. I also take a USGS topo maps with me. You might even be able to download your trail into your GPS if someone has uploaded it onto the web. Check National Geographics site because they have a section that people upload trail data. Also try http://www.gpxchange.com they have a lot of trail data as well. I use them the most. Anyway, just some ideas. MapSource United States TOPO Garmin This CD features digital topo maps for the US that are comparable to the US Geological Survey's 1:100,000 scale paper maps. Detail includes terrain contours, elevation, information, some roads, trails, summits and some bathymetric contours.
  9. I can't help you on your question, but I couldn't help seeing where your from and had to say howdy. We lived in the Bitterroot for some time. Great country. I now live down in southern Utah - Canyon Country and run my own mapping and outdoor equipment business. I'm just getting into this geocaching and putting some ideas together for locals and tourist to have some fun with it. Anyway I just wanted to say hello. Good luck - when your ready to purchase drop me an email and I will give you a great deal.
  10. This is the forum for Expert GPS/Easy GPS http://forums.topografix.com/. I'm not sure but Dan the guy that developed Easy GPS and Expert GPS will know. I know that GPX files can be read by a lot of different software that makes it really universal. Other than that Dan should be able to give you a better answer.
  11. Okay go to Main menu and click on the little page icon top right corner. Not the one that takes you to the different sceens but the one next to it. It will open a window that says Owner Information click on it and change what you need.
  12. Okay go to the setup menu and then to the Welcome Message. You will be able to change what you need to. If you need any other help drop me an email. 13. I checked with a friend of mine that uses a Garmin streepilot to see what he thought was a good unit and he would recomend streetpilot c530 but it is about 75.00 dollars more than you want to spend. He said any the street pilots are good units and the Garmin Quest. Here is a place you can check out http://www.adventurestation.com/category/c...mp;res=4OTB2268. if the link doesn't come through click on my name and email me and I will send you the information.
  14. That behavior is not normal and I can't think of any setting that you need to adjust. I would contact Garmin and tell them what is happening. They have a great replacement plan if there is a defect.
  15. STREETPILOT C330 Garmin 010-00401-10 The StreetPilot c330 provides unmatched convenience and ease of use in a touch-screen automotive GPS. It comes pre-loaded with street data for the entire US, Canada and Puerto Rico. Go to my profile and email me and I will give you the link of where to order it from. Its a great place to find good prices on GPS equipment. Anyway I thought you would want to know how to save $200.00. I don't believe there is any fee required. Was $599.99 Now $399.95

  17. MapSource MetroGuide Canada v4 Garmin Provides detailed maps that show interstates, highways, roads, and streets for major metropolitan areas. Includes address lookup capability, points of interest and select products provide automatic route calculation on the PC only. MapSource TOPO Canada Garmin This CD features digital topo maps for Canadathat are comparable to the NTS 1:50,000 and 1:250,000 scale paper maps. Detail includes terrain contours, elevations, POI information, summits, trails and some roads. Well it depends what you are looking for because they are designed for two different operations. As you can see above if your looking for road maps then MG would probably be the best, but if your looking to topo quality maps for your Garmin for back country navigation then Topo Canada. But don't just rely on your GPS get a good topo map do your backcountry navigation by. Use the GPS as a backup and an aid. Just my advise. If your looking to purchase this software send me an email I bet I can save you some money. I have my own mapping company. I also have the Legend C. Let me know if I can help.
  18. Like the other people said you should be able to just transfer it from your GPS to National Geographic with out any problems. Make sure that in the final step of the import wizard in NG you have selected to import your tracks as waypoints or as a freehand line. Also make sure you are using the same datum. I have found that when transfering data WGS 84/NAD 83 on both my gps and my software that I'm using seems to work the best. For what ever the reason some of the other datums have problems at times in NG Topo. Good luck.
