  1. Ditto. Also, you can find some nice alternative USB phone chargers that can get you around the issue of the coiled cord. Try Target or the store that sells accessories for your phone.
  2. Please do if you can...or a link to a site with the product. I've had no luck finding one that fits my vents well.
  3. I like where that Proclip would mount. I drive a Dodge RAM 1500 and have a contoured dash. I am not a big fan of suction mounts, but wouldn't rule it out...could you elaborate as to which Garmin holder you use? Thanks everyone for the feedback...it's been extremely helpful.
  4. I am looking to see what different dash / window mounts people have found that they would recommend for this unit.
  5. Sputnik - Wonderful link, thanks. Hadn't seen that before. I think the issue is one of the buttons is touchy. I had the sequence correct, but it took several attempts to get it and finally it took, got the prompt and all was happy in life...
  6. I have a Garmin Venture etrex unit that is not behaving. Now, I've googled directions on doing a factory reset, but if someone would be so gracious to confirm them I want to make sure I am doing it right because it appears not to be working.
  7. World Hunger > MB Autonomy, imo.
  8. I posted something regarding this once in another forum and general concensus from people living in those states is that the law is generally not enforced.
  9. Re: Beanbag mounts...I've had a few people tell me they don't like them because they can slide around corners. Usually varies from vehicle to vehicle from my inquiries...so, I know for me I am looking to stick to suction mount. Because the initial post said that wasn't really an option (must take a while to ship or something).

Ok, I found the "register" link. You have to click on "Log Out": Logged in as: egami ( Log Out ) Then go directly to: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php? while you are logged out. Then re-log in from there. Let's see if that worked now that I've found the "Register" link. edit: hm. edit 2: woot, fixed it. Didn't like the fact I had multiple browsers open I think.

What page are you getting that link from? I logged out, went to www.geocaching.com, clicked on Forums and got to that same page (I think) and never saw anything that said "Register". I proceeded to re-log in and still haven't seen update. edit: also clicked on your direct link and still see no change.
  12. Amazon has the best price I could find when I purcahse it.
  13. If you don't go through Amazon.com or Buy.com beware of shipping costs. gpsonsale.com and other similar sites tend to ding you for shipping significantly. This thread has related info. for Buy.com was the best price I found: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...=141928&hl= Basically, you could get $50 off through Garmin, $30 off signing up for their credit card (simply purchase, pay it off and cancel it and $15 off for first time customer at Buy.com. Not a bad way to save $95. A little work, but it gets you a 60CSx under $300.

Ok, so I purchased my premium membership today and was updating profile via "My Controls" at the top. I go to "Edit Avatar Settings" and it re-directs me to "Account Settings" with a little message reading: Important! If you make any changes to your profile and they do not update in the forums, click on the "Register" link on the forums page and it will send you to a page to update those settings. So, I update my avatar settings via "Account Settings" then "Edit My Profile" and proceed to upload my image which appears correctly. I assume this has taken effect, but I am not seeing it on replies. I don't see the "Register" link they mention. I logged out and back in, I went to "Forums" via the www.geocaching.com site and I am still not getting it to show. Any ideas? Maybe I am just looking right over something that is right in front of me.
  15. If you download Google toolbar you can do this. Just search Google for "google toolbar" and you should see it. You can upload your bookmarks from your browser onto Google then access them on other PC's via your Google profile.
  16. Are you using suction mount in your vehicle for 60CSx? If so what one and do you like it? Thanks!
  17. Serial to USB adapter would be cool... ok, sorry, bad IT joke.
  18. I am fairly new to geocaching and this is one of the first questions I had. I am by no means a WAAS expert, but in my personal testing I've found slightly increased accuracy. I run with WAAS on. Not sure why someone says it's useless for land nav. I'd like to see the logic behind that.
  19. I went through this same dilemma...I took literally a month to research before I bought and finally decided there wasn't a "perfect" unit for my needs. I settled on a similar list and decided on the 60CSx. It does much better for on road than I thought it would, but still not perfect. Also, I bought mine for about $300 USD after rebates. Had to sign up for a credit card and use it for the purchase, but effectively ended up getting $80 off retail price through Amazon.com. Anyway, see the thread I started about my wonderful adventure with it! Those things are durable for sure. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=143967
  20. Ok, now I've already heard it from my wife...
  21. Ok, so I have dubious faction with my wife, at best, over my purchase of my new 60CSx. However, I quickly gained faction once we actually went geocaching with the kids a couple times, so that helped some. I am just one of those people that love technology...any kind really, but especially electronic toys like GPSr's. So, anyway, I ride my bike to work in the summer (Suzuki Boulevard, not like mountain bike) and I decide this would be a great opportunity to play around. Ok, not really, but I need any excuse I can to play with our new toy. I head down the highway, GPS in my windbreaker pocket, and as I get about 12 miles down the road....IT'S GONE! Yeah, that's right, gone...out of my pocket. I drive back home thinking maybe I'll spot it. It's early and not a ton of people out at 6:15 AM, but enough I start wondering if it's gone for good. I get all the way back home....no GPS. I hop on my bike and head back to work. Now the sun is up over the horizon shining in my eyes, fog is still hovering in low spots, moisture is collecting on my visor some and I just say a little prayer, but really deep down I am thinking it's gone. Low and behold....at 60 MPH, I spot it out of the corner of my eye on the gravel on the shoulder of the highway. It's scratched, but the glass over the screen is literally flawless...amazing, I know. And, yes, it still works like a charm. And, yes, I am still married after the fact. (j/k, my wife is quite gracious even when I am a knuckle-head).
  22. wow, glad I found the Motorola tip before dropping cash on an adapter I won't really need. anyone know where to find a good suction mount for the 60CSx?
  23. There is a fair chance the CS rep. just gave you a semi-canned answer versus a more technically correct one.
  24. I am not a big fan of GB, personally. I do commend you on your action though and willingness to make a change that you knew was needed. I certainly don't criticize your action...it's just I wish there were less failures with the procedure. I am thankful to hear yours was a success. Keep Geocaching!
