Is that a solution? Yes, that is a potential solution... And you weren't one of the people I am referring to about 80% whining. I just don't know how feasible this is and I would question how effective it would ultimately be, but I'd support it if it garnered a lot of interest because it's certainly a step in the right direction.
-
I call it that the first time...after the 500th it's whining.
-
I liked this idea at one time, but the more I think about it the more I don't like it. It's totally subjective and I think most people would tend to rate things higher out of courtesy and wanting to avoid offending a cache owner versus being plain honest...even if it were totally anonymous.
-
Yet again...this is what this thread is for Yet, most of what I've read is more whining.
-
I suspect that most cache owners would honestly believe that their cachers were already at the higher standard. I would challenge that most cache owners don't perceive the game in that manner.
-
I just get tired of hearing some of the "old school" complain to no end...there are some individuals that 80% of the replies I've read from them are constant loathing about how the sport has declined. What I would be interested in is hearing solutions. Make a seperate cache type with a higher standard. That way there is a subset of caches out there for people that don't want to accept the change without complaining in every other thread about it. I hate some of the caches myself and I've seen a whole lot less, but I'll be damned if I am going to spend 80% of my time complaining about them.
-
One of the neat caches I saw a guy working on that he hadn't place yet was approx. this size. It was box shaped, but he was completely camo covering it to make it looke like a piece of mossy covered wood...it was really incredible.

Edited my post. But I can't edit anybodys quotes... Didn't realize it wasnt kosher to answer a persons question. I was answering what people posted on the board; and all of the posts regarding not naming specifics came after or while i was typing my post. And I just read your PM right now. I've sent maybe one of them ever.... Edited my quote.

I agree. Although, if I were a reviewer, in good taste I think it's wise to avoid the appearance of potentially suspicious FTF's.

What's wrong with being curious? If there is something to this, then there is an issue to be addressed. If not, why bother making a general discussion about something with no realistic basis? Theoreticals may be fun, but this wasn't designated as such. Where did I say it was wrong to be curious? Just because this person hasn't posted the details that doesn't negate the fact that it's a legitimate issue. You don't need the details to discuss the incident and your personal views. If you feel you can't do so then simply say as much as move...there is no need to argue. Many of us don't need the melodrama to simply say "It's poor taste" or "I think it's ok as long as they solve the puzzle".
-
Ok - well lets see here - duh.......... Yes it is wrong. If it happened at all......... Not hard is it? It was posed as a general question. Just because it was based off a particular incident doesn't mean it can'tbe discussed without the details of who is involved. The point is to discuss the concept, not the individuals. Don't include me in your "we"....it's not necessary to delve into the drama.
-
Obviously you're missing the point because the point isn't to name the cache and try to drag a bunch of unnecessary drama into it...the point is to simply pose a basic question about a situation to see what peoples opinions are. You people amaze me...you act like the OP is the troll and so far anyone questioning the OP seems to me to be doing the trolling.
-
Because it's not necessary... How do you figure? If this really was a genuine concern, then it could be looked at. It most likely isn't and is just some trolling, so it obviously gets labeled as such when the troll cannot produce a link. Not necessary, but never turn away damning evidence. I've answered that in the subsequent response to the one you just quoted. It's a "general" subject...there is no need to give the details. If they really wanted to "troll" they'd name people and make it dramatic. This individual has deliberately avoided that.
-
We just need a cache category that has an elevated criteria so these people can stop whining in every thread.
-
If the OP so desires to get trained and carry a firearm, or not, it really doesn't matter what our personal views are on gun laws or carrying one. He has the right. People have the right to suggest it. People have the right to argue against it, but at some point it becomes pointless bantering back and forth...probably at this juncture the OP has enough info. either way.
-
There is no need to drag out the details...that, in fact, would be trolling. I find it ironic people are attacking the OP when the intent and clear desire not to drag a reviewer through the mud is anything but troll-like. It's relatively simple. Is it, or is it not, kosher for a reviewer to do that?
-
Because it's not necessary...
-
I don't know...he's kept it anonymous and while the incident maybe doesn't need to be made public the general topic is certainly one worth entertaining a conversation about I think.
-
68% of all statistics are made up.
-
Considering rhelt's apologetic attempts I think sbell is just trying to point out that your comment he highlighted wasn't good timing...I don't think it has anything to do with the event.

If every question that commonly comes up were a pinned topic, nobody'd ever read the pinned topics. That's why there's a topic labeled:Read First! Geocaching Frequently Asked Questions, which includes the following: In my experience, the more info you put up front for someone, the less likely they are to find it. Human nature... My point was that I've seen this topic about as many times as I've seen "60csx vs 76csx...what's the difference??" in GPS units and software. I changed my username, and I also realized that it said it was permanent so I'd have to make a new account.A little nosing around goes a long way sometimes.Sometimes you have a brain fart...we all do.My intent is not to ridcule the OP.Just to save us from seeing the 600th "How do I change my username?" thread.Just like they should pin the awsome side by side comparision of the 60csx and the 76 csx in GPS units and software. What would be nice if is a Library type forum for topics such as the "60CSx vs. 76CSx" and other common repeated topics..."What Works Best for Tick / Mosquitoe Repellent", "What it means to be 'Old School'"...

I used to work right down the road from Ely.

Not a problem, it refers back to an acronym I made up in an earlier post in this thread - FOP = Friends Of Phil, Phil Trigo being the virtual leader of TRIGO. No, there is no Phil. Or is there? Friends of Phil...lol
-
You just caused people to cry...

So people are not allowed to express their opinions now? I don't think it was the expression of opinion she took issue with. I think it's the manner in which it was done....(allegedly, I haven't personally seen it...just clarifying).
