  1. FYI: I contacted Garmin about the max size of SD cards the unit will support. Here is the reply: Personally, I cannot understand why they do not support at least up to 2GB (FAT) filesystem. In this day in age, it seems very shortsighted. Well at least we now have removable media, size will come I guess.
  2. You may be comparing the price for a 76cx vs a 60csx. All the prices I've seen show the 76 version of either at $50 more than the 60. I, personally, have a 60cs now and plan to get a 60csx. With a 1gb micro SD I'll be in heaven. FYI: I contacted Garmin about the max size of SD cards the unit will support. 3. Just a quick request. Can someone take some screen shots of the updated screens? (Compass, etc) (I'd like to see them, but am hesitant about loading the beta software...)
  4. jotne, Yeah I bought the 60CS knowing this in advance...but I still am hoping maybe...maybe...Garmin will give us the option to turn the Barometer off and use the data from the satellites... Fingers crossed....(but not holding my breath)
  5. Thanks for the the info. I was basically looking for this info to plan some bike trips. I wanted to find out the type of terrain I would be incountering before the trip. Thanks again
  6. joshgray, So have you found any other programs that will do this for you? I know Mapsource will do this for your tracks..BUT I am interesting in calculating the elevation profile prior to the trip using my planned routes. Will TopoUSA 5.0 do this for me? --Mark
  7. CLAcacher, I am in the process of trying to decide bewteen the ForeTrex or ForeRunner for biking usage. What make you decide on the Trex?
  8. OK, I'm a little confused..(what else is new) When the 60C and 60CS were announced the C touted 30 hours and the CS 28 hours Now I read on this page 2 different numbers: http://www.garmin.com/products/gpsmap60cs/ In the 1st paragraph it states "(30 hours, typical use)", but in the features below it states: "20 hours of battery life under typical-use conditions (uses two "AA" batteries) " As does the specs page and manual. So now..what happened to the wonderful 28 hours they quoted us to begin with? I was ok loosing 2 hours for the extra's...but 10 hours seems a bit high.
  9. jbclimber, which page of the manual did you find that info on? (I'd personally like that option) --Mark
  10. I can highly recommend Strong Engineering. I use his screen protector on my Kyocera 7135 and it is by far the clearest I've used. (And easy to apply also) Brad Strong is a great person to deal with. He is continually adding new protectors to his line up. Actually after I found out Garmin released the 60C I emailed him about it, 3 days later he had a new protector ready for sale. (now if only the 60CS would be released that fast ) Here is a link to his:Garmin Products --Mark
  11. Hmm....interesting. Did the rep give you any indacation as to when it will be announced/released? I'm waiting for the 60Cs...but I do like the BIGGER screen on my friend 76....hmmm --Mark
  12. Could you elaborate more please? You were creating a route and added a geocache waypoint, correct? Did the unit just shut off? What do you mean by "and software missing"? Was the unit able to turn back on?
  13. Hello all. I got my GPS V about a month ago and really love it....but I have a battery life question. I bought some of these : http://www.thomas-distributing.com/mh-4aa180.htm, The Maha 1800mAh NiMH rechargeable batteries. I did the proper cycling with them, but I cannot get more then 7-8 hours use out of them, nowhere near the claimed 25 hours of use. This is with WAAS disabled and barely any backlight usage. Does anyone else use these batteries in there V? How many hours are you getting? Thanks! --Mark
