  1. That's what the cache owner asked me to help with. Unfortunatley, it's not just one or two, but numbering in the 70s. A lot of work.
  2. You let the cache owner know of what problem? That somebody is signing logs with something that you find offensive? Sorry, but to my mind, there is no problem aside from the fact that you see one. I didn't look at each and every log, but I did look at quite a few, and I didn't see any where they shorted the name to the acronym that you shortened it to. Sure... I'm sure that was their intention. I'm sure there was some very juvenile giggling going on at the time. But they posted the full "Fantastic Urban Caching Kings" name in every log that I saw. It was you that chose to post the asterisk'd version that more closely spells out the forbidden word. I knew that they meant... you SAID what they meant. That's right. You don't see it on the electronic log. It's not there. The only thing there is what you wrote, which is copied from the web log. What you don't see, and what I and others saw, was the abreviated version that they used to save space. Which did *not* include asterisks. I put in the astericks specifically because of things like terms of service from Groundspeak. Yeah, I had a problem with it. But from the perspective of that of a parent who would possibly have kids around. My wife also had complaints about it, as did another cacher who I ran into while caching today. Three for three on that. As did the cache owner. It turns out that he was out today also and stopped by several of the caches. He saw it prior to me even saying something to him about it.

This is in the written log, not on geocaching.com. The geocaching.com log states, in part: "...then made a diversion to the new Randall Road area- we were signing the log Team Fantastic Urban Caching Kings to conserve space..." and yes, it did list the individuals who were there. No, it is not a group of 13 year olds. Problem is that this is supposed to be a family oriented type of game, and finding a written log stating that "Team F.*.*.K" signed the log on 12/1 probably isn't a good idea for kids who would also be out caching.
  4. Problem is that the cache page doesn't spell it out, but the written log has it. Deleting it from the cache page doesn't really change anything. And it's not my cache, just on caches that I found today.
  5. Hey all, Found some caches today where a group of individuals came up with a group name to use when logging some caches. And then, in order to save space (and probably time) they shortened the name to use just the initials. So Team Fantastic Urban Caching Kings was shortened to Team F.*.*.K. (you can figure out what letters they used). I've let the cache owner know of the problem. I also understand that there is nothing that I can do about it.
  6. Was the second to find on one cache. Ended up being the first one to log (which to me means nothing other than I found the cache). Told everyone in the log that I was second, and listed the FTF name from the log book. Figured that would take care of everything, and it did. He got his credit claiming the FTF, and my log gave him the credit as well.
  7. Maybe it's not a problem of it being covered from a good while ago, but is a problems due to the other three current threads on the same topic.
  8. Got mine today. The whole family thinks that they are cool, even the warm ones. <g> Side note: If you keep selling great coins like the ones I keep ordering from you, I'm gonna go broke! Bill
  9. My concern with this is that it's a starting point for maore (as was mentioned). Yes, they're having fun with it, but how long before this practice becomes more common. As an example, in this forum I once reported a thread that got locked down. The thread heading said one thing, but the body of the original post said something of "not really", referring to the topic, and then had a plea & a link to vote for a picture for the Jeep travel bug contest. The topic was a bald-faced lie to get people to read the post. A moderator stomped on it pretty quick after it was reported. I've been involved with other forums where that kind of thing happens alot. I don't want it to happen here. And this seems like the start of the same kind of thing, just with a cache page, rather than a topic heading. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like a bad kind of thing to start.
  10. Most of us already knew that; we were simply having a bit of fun by joking about edible Peeps. Yes. Right. I new that he was talking about people....
  11. Hey! Nood food in the caches!
  12. My thought is that it could still be the teams find, as long as the individual members (or parts thereof) aren't finding seperate caches in seperate locations at about the same time. I go and find a cache, it should count for the team. My wife and/or other members go with me, it still counts. I take may son after cache GCAAAA, while my wife goes after cache GCBBBB, both at the same time, then no, neither should really count. That said, we treat this as a group function, even if everyone doesn't go. I take my son in the morning, and the girls go in the afternoon, yeah, I think that should count. But then again, the family is the team. And we still always count the find even if the dog is left home. Bill
  13. Aaarrrggghhh!!!! No fair! I still haven't seen the mailman limping on down the road with mine. <sniff> Bill
  14. Then should the plaque for the "Original Stash" also be removed?
  15. Before I knew about geocaching, we had a family reunion at my place. I buried a real small treasure chest with enough of the gold dollar coins so that each kid would have 5. Then I painted a bi X over the spot. While the kids were playing on the playset, the found the map that I made. It took them all around the neighborhood, back to the house, and then they had to dig for it. It was a *real* treasure hunt!
  16. Because I want to update my Logicweave cache stats program once a week on Sunday evening when I have completed my weekend caching. Okay, this is not a problem at all. I update CacheStats from GSAK everyday that I go caching, and have only run the My Finds once. To do this: 1) Filter the view to show just the found caches (My Found Caches, a GSAK default filter) 2) Export the view to a GPX file, specifying in the Log section to export 0 logs, and check the box that says Always Include My Logs" 3) Import the file into CacheStats. Works here. Bill
  17. Take a look at my entry for cache GCVEGJ. I've got a picture there of the family & the dog.
  18. Was this a Tate's brand compass? Those are known for doing that kind of thing. And they are also the reason of that well known saying: "He who has a Tate's is lost".
  19. If the $12 is solid, I'll stand by my previous entry in the list, with the 1 nickle, and the set of 4 different (5 coins total).
  20. What about a new travel bug option? A drop-n-grab one shot. That would allow the usage on both virtuals, web-cams, and *any* other cache, assisting in the personal tracking bu g problem.

    Astrolabe

    Oh yeah. Me too!
  22. I have to agree with this. It could be too easily construed as self serving, rather than for everyone. And I know that our troop here (I'm not involved with them, yet!) would consider it too small on it's own. The park reconstruction, on the other hand...
  23. I'd like one black one. And dependingo on the price, I might get 4 more (one of each)
