  1. You should take her again, maybe on some urban park caches or something along those lines. So she's not the great and wild adventurer. She still is taking an interest in an activity that we all enjoy, and she is still a person. It wouldn't be nice to take her out to caches that are intentionally so difficult that it deters her. Everyone here has talked about ways to raise awareness for the sport, and sharing it with others is no doubt the best way to do so. Let her gear up to the more difficult caches. Send her out with your wife. Turn her on to some 1/1's. But don't try to deter her from geocahcing just because the 2 of you are of different caching experiences. She just needs time to warm up and understand that this is not just walking with a GPSr, and then she will make up her own mind as to if geocaching is for her or not.
  2. Everything you are doing is correct. You can modify your log visit even after posting, which is why you see the (EDIT) (DELETE), or (PERMANENTLY ENCRYPT) options. Of course, you can't modify the posts of other cachers, so that is why you only see them on your own log. You need only click on the bolded highlights if you want to edit, delete or encrypt your visit. Hope this clears up your question.
  3. I would reccomend getting a USB SD card reader/writer. You should be able to get one for less that $20. The time alone you save will make it worth it, and you won't even have to hook the GPS to the PC, just take the card out of it.
  4. This was one of my first caches, found it late last year. Really enjoyed it. The Keychain Cache used to be right next to it before it got plundered a while back Cdawg
  5. I must be honest, I am a huge fan on NightKnight's caches! I have found them to be a great way to spend an evening, or late night, as it may be. Just wanted to say thanks!
  6. My apologies for not being clear. I understand that the color is the top unit. I did not mean that the color is a direct replacement, but is being introduced at the same time as the discontinuation of the Meridian basic. Cdawg
  7. Yes. I work for an electronics retailer here in California, and we sell this unit quite rapidly. After our initial order late last year, Magellan has informed us that we will no longer be able to get this unit, as it is being phased out and replaced by the Meridian Color. We have discontinued the unit as well in our stores. However, I would strongly reccomend this unit if you are looking for an expandable unit that is great for caching. The unit, street software and a memory card should be available for around $250 or less.
  8. I don't claim to know exactly what I am doing, but I am in 95831, just off Florin West, and I'm getting better all the time. I usually go at night, and right now am still hunting 1/1's due to my own personal lack of experience (only 15 found so far.) I don't know if night caching is your thing, but let me know if it is and maybe we can meet somewhere sometime. Cdawg
  9. StreetPilot III, but I want a Geko 201 cause of the neat game that is built in. Cdawg
  10. Greetings All! Due to my work schedule, I have found that the best time of day for my wife and I to cache hunt is late at night. However, it seems that we have found most of the late night accessible ones in our area. Has anyone had good luck finding caches at night other than the Moonlit Caching series in the Sacramento area? Thanks, cdawg
  11. Just checked my SPIII. No Geocache icons, however, City Navigator v4.01 does have them. My firmware revision is 2.32, and a new firmware was released tonight in a beta, but I am unsure as to if this beta will have the new icons or not. I am also a bit antsy about flashing my unit with a beta firmware altogether.
  12. Would anyone else like to see the ability to search for caches not only by proximity, but by name? I think a keyword search of cache titles would help users find specific types of caches (color related, sports related, type of cache) or a filter to be able to only pick certain types of caches to display, like "webcam only" or those only with travel bugs, or only multi-cache finds. Anyone else agree, or am I just out there? Cdawg
