  1. I use wap.geocaching.com when I'm out and about. It's not perfect, but it works pretty good for grabbing the cache pages by waypoint. Otherwise, the find a cache page has a "search by waypoint" option. Good luck!
  2. I agree... I don't have any of my own lists at this point, but I do enjoy looking at some of the local cachers lists to plan trips. If I look for caches in Minnesota (I'm from Wisconsin) and I see one of them is on a list, I'm more likely to go to that cache than another one nearby. Lists are a great resource for the community... and now that you've made me realized how important they are to me, I'll make some up!
  3. well I carved this pumpkin before I read about the cointest. Got home from work tonight and realized we hadn't carved our pumpkins yet! Carved it up, then we were talking about if anyone had done any other geocaching themed pumpkins, did a search on the forums, and this thread came up! So, here is my unplanned entry. I might get around to uploading a better photo if I have time:

    PQ problems

    nevermind, problem solved!

    PQ problems

When I go to run a PQ, it works fine, but once I check a day of the week to actually run it, i get an error. this has happened with both FF and IE. anyone else have this trouble? Just wondering if I should report, or if it's a system thing. thanks!
  6. To the OP: I would also like to refer you to www.wi-geocaching.com , the state Geocaching Association. They have really helpful members, really great forums, and if you need anything, you'll always get a quick response from everyone there. they may be able to give you a little more localized help. the active cachers on the board have been all over the state! it may not get easier, but the goods really do come with the bad. not every hunt will lead you to a cache, but 99% of them will be successful in some way.
  7. Not an attack on you (But maybe on the "some" you referenced) : Isn't every hide cause for "someone might see a ______ and go tear it apart thinking it's a cache"? Someone might be walking past a fallen tree, and think there is a cache. Someone might see a bolt in a sign and think it's a cache. Someone might see an ammo box with ammo in it and think its a cache. someone might see my mom's excellent Tupperware collection and rip it apart thinking there might be a cache. If anything, better hints or descriptions are probably needed. Don't take the hints or descriptions with you? Maybe you should start. A notebook is cheap. /rant I think this is a great cache idea. Don't let the "someone might rip apart a ____" argument stop you. I've found a few of these, one was a micro "corked" into the bottom of a false house, the other was a hinged, but sealed up house. Neat hide, lots of space for trades, and what muggle digs around in bird houses? Probably only the kind that would be interested in geocaching anyway!
  8. I live in EC, and I imagine I'll be in the area when you're here. My girlfriend and I work nights, so we cache during the day, usually during the week. There's tons of great caches here, We'll have to meet up and check a couple out if you'd like! We've done a lot of the caches in the area, so I'd love to serve as a lifeline, should you need one! Good luck!!
  9. I haven't gotten out to hide my first cache yet, but today I found lock n lock sets for 50% off at JC Penneys. Don't know when they sale is done, but if you get a chance, this is a great deal on cache containers!
  10. I'm emilie, I'm from Eau Claire WI and have been caching a bit over a year. Someday I might have something to say, so at least this way I can tell people "what do you mean who am I??? I've been on this board for MONTHS!" thanks for all the interesting reads.
