  1. moi aussi...'tho i think it was an earlier version on atc I heard an interview with Jeremy in February, 2001 on the Todd Mundt Show, a program from Michigan Public Radio carried on many NPR stations.
  2. Started with 315 during the days of Selective Availability. Was thrilled on occasion to se an EPE of less than 100 feet. The GreaterForse surprised me in the spring of 2002 by buying me a 330, which I still use. I don't have any particular thoughts on what I might replace it with in the future. I would like to get something with direct routing and turn prompting. When my 330 gives out, who knows what features and accuracy will be available. GeoForse
  3. Not sure the smellchecker would have caught that, Criminal
  4. Does MS S & T give turn cues as your traveling? Either "turn left" or "turn right" as you approach a change of direction in your route. Does it give warnings if you get off route. My GPS (M330) does not give this info, so I wondered if the program did? GeoForse
  5. If you live in the Midwest, Menard's building centers has it in the tape and adhesives area. GeoForse
  6. What they all said. I had a 315 before SA was turned off. Other than mapping, the only major feature missing from the 315 is WAAS. It is important to upgrade to the lastest firmware, which I think is 3.14 or 3.15. These versions will count down the last 0.1 mile in feet, something the early versions wouldn't do. GeoForse
  7. still checking quoting again
  8. Out of curiosity, what are the "over thirty GPS games"? GeoForse
  9. Not to change the direction of this thread, but does anybody remember the "Chronosynplasticinfinubulon" ? Was it part of the HGTTG or was it part of something else. Seems I recall hearing about it on some NPR progarm back in the seventies or early eighties. GeoForse
  10. Regarding the dense woods and no GPS reception, you might have to take a couple of bearings to the cache from different spots in the clear and search at the intersection. GeoForse
  11. I'm not sure how old this is in dog years, but in February, I'm Medicare eligible. GeoForse
  12. I was part of a chain that moved a TB from Texas to the Bahamas over the course of some 18 months. The stated goal of the owner was to move the TB to Northern Ireland. Someone, a novice, removed this TB from the Bahama's cache location so they would have room to place a YJTB in the cache. Three months later, this person placed the TB in a cache in central Nebraska!! I realize that finders can do whatever they want with a TB, BUT, isn't there some obligation to move them generally towards the stated goal, not half a continent away, and further than its starting place??

  15. I'm not familiar with this product. Who makes it and how much does it cost? How does it work? Does it retransmit amplifies signals to a built-in antenna? What makes and models does it work with? GeoForse, and occasionally, the GreatrForse
  16. More than one person has fried their laptop computer using an inverter. The problem is that inverters often do not produ.ece sine wave AC voltage. With some inverters, it is closer to a square wave, and will destroy a laptop--even through the power transformer on the laptop. When I use my laptop with my inverter, I only charge the battery with the laptop off. Maybe inverters are better nowdays. At least get one that says it produces modified sine wave. 17. I know the wisdom of this advice, and unfortunately, I learned it by experiance. Last summer, I was helping my son ferry his second car across country. My daughter-in-law was driving when we became involved in an accident on the freeway near Ranch Cucamonga, California. We eventually came to rest against the guardrail, and the airbags blew. My GPS, a Mag Map 330 was in a winshield/dashboard mount, and apparently, the base of the mount was resting on the far edge of the airbag cover. When the airbag blew, it propelled the GPS, mount and all, up into the windshield. It tore the GPS out of the mount, and tore the back off the GPS as well. The mount was twisted badly, and had glass ground into the plastic. The upshot of all this is was that the windshield would not have been broken, except for the GPS. The GPS was essentially unharmed, the mount was salvageable, No one was seriously injured, the car took about a month to get repaired, and we were delayed about five days on the trip. Be very careful where you put your windshield/dashboard mount. GeoForse, and occasionally, the GreatrForse
