  1. Jen, Thanks for posting this here. The Great Falls area has just made it official with the first meeting of the CMGA. The web page is a bit behind the times, but it will be updated very soon. We are hoping our little group can become as successful as yours in Missoula or the one in Billings. See Ya on the Trails!-- shell618
  2. Hello All! On Oct. 8th, a few cachers gathered and decided to form the CMGA group. This meeting was held at the Sting restaurant in Great Falls and was attended by a fair number (12) of the local geocachers. As this was the first meeting, it was very casual. The next meeting will be November 20,2008 at The Sting. Everyone is invited to come, even if you are not from the Central Montana area. We would really like to see more cachers from the Great Falls or Helena areas to either attend or post your input here, or contact RAM Explorers, shell618, or beaverboy (formerly Greg & Max) with your ideas. Randy of RAM Explorers posted the minutes and I am placing them here for all to read: Central Montana Geocaching Association (CMGA) Meeting minutes from October 8, 2008 Welcome comments made by Randy (RAM Explorers) Introductions were made. Officers reports and reading of the minutes are not applicable at this meeting Old Business: None New Business: First order of business was a poll to find out if those in attendance wanted to form a club. Motion was made and seconded, with a resounding YES. Greg was decided upon to be our first President until the New Year. He was informed of this shortly after his arrival. He accepted the position. Discussion was held regarding meeting places, dates and times. We will try to remain at the Sting if possible for now. Discussion was also had to allow volunteers to take turns setting up future meeting. Randy was checking into the availability of the STING for November 20, 2008 at 6:00 pm. Discussion was made for a mission statement: HAVE FUN and Explore new places, using a combination of Hi-Tech (GPS’s) and Low-Tech (Shoe leather) Goal: Some Public outreach (Lewis and Clark, Newspaper). Will attempt to work more with FWP. Decision was made to collect no dues from the membership at this time, and to concentrate on getting the club off the ground. Randy has volunteered to maintain the e-mail list and newsletter. Motion was made and Seconded to make Randy the IT Manager. Vote passed unanimously. Club activities/Events were discussed: Lewis and Clark Event – Randy will handle CITO event – most likely along the Rivers Edge Trail. Fen (Giachild) will contact Lighthouse2000 for suggestions and recommendations for an area and timeframe (Earthday). The club website was discussed. Zenpanda volunteered to undertake that with help from Randy. Montana Geocaching forum was also discussed. Shell618 will start a “thread” for our club. Discussion was held regarding a group Geocache. Container types and the location were discussed. It appears that Gordon (K&G seekers) may be sacrificing a cache, although some discussion was held on creating an entirely new one. Will follow this up more next month. Stacey Thurlow (Temporary Secretary) OK, now that the formal stuff is taken care of, LETS HAVE SOME FUN! We hope to see this group grow. Any ideas that anyone has from their experience with local groups is welcome to give input to help us. See Ya all on the geo-trail! shell618 (Helena, MT) member CMGA
  3. Is there a reason why Montana was left out? I have been to many caches near waterfalls here, and many other waterfalls that did not have caches nearby. Too bad I wasn't caching yet, or now there would be caches at them!
  4. I just blew off the past hour at work checking out the new site. Its really looking great! I do agree with the comment about a link to the home page on all the other pages. Keep up the good work, I'll check back as much as I can while caching as often as possible between work in Great Falls and Home in Helena!
  5. I don't think it is just complicated routes. My results were the same today on a fairly straightforward route. In my case, I downloaded a .kml file from Google earth for a route, the preview was OK, but when I wanted to save the route I was shown a map without a route marked HUNDREDS of miles away...my route is in Montana, the map I received was in Washington state! I scrolled WAY over to where my route was supposed to be and there wasn't a route mapped anywhere. I thought "what the heck" and saved the route anyways. But when I tried to create a PQ, I received the Server Error in '/' Application error. After reading this (above) post, I checked my e-mail and my query was there (surprised!), but when I tried to edit i received this error: Server Error in '/' Application. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Queue empty. Hmmmm??? Any way I can delete this query now since I can't get into the edit area? Thanks for any help.... shell618
