  1. While a few cachers in Georgia have Jeep TBs, Here is the first one placed in a cache in Georgia! Behind The Blocks Jeep 4x4 #2718 I needed to get rid of these things before the big trip. So out they go. However give it a week and Georgia will be flooded with them!
  2. Jeremy, Just 411 when I logged in some jeep thbs on my account I noticed on my user stats that "Jeep 4x4 Travel Bugs" has a little (*) beside as though it is included in your find count. However it doesnt effect your find count, it is really a cosmetic that knowing our group would cause confusion later on down the line. This may have been intentional or whatever just thought Id share. BTW thanks for allowing Jeep to do this these little jeeps are neat and will look great on my desk at work! (Ha, Just kidding!)
  3. On a some what realted note, some one made the remark at our Stone Mtn Cache Machine after being in the 90 degree heat for 5 hrs that if we HAD to go find these caches we would be complaining our rear ends off, but since we did it on our own accord the heat bugs rocks etc dont seem to bother all tha much.
  4. There aare quite a bit of us here from Georgia! We have 700+ caches in the state (dont know last count) and some 200-300 cachers at any given time (just a guess). Welcome aboard. Im from Macon, soon to be Savannah though!
  5. I just tried to buy something (to see what prices are) but they dont have USA listed as a country!
  6. Had one stolen and lost another one while caching. Then I thought i Had my third one stolen and bought a new one, then i found so now i have two GPS's.
  7. Thanks for the markwell Keystone, never saw that thread. The link at the top is dead however so here are some links AllenLacy provided: Gps in Can And Mtn-man: Not the first time to be used
  8. Someone posted this on our board and thought id share. Unexpected Summer It sounds pretty neat. you find the special can, push the button which calls Coke. They then activate the GPS and track you down to give you your prize. Disclaimer: Im not advertising for coke or anything, just thought the idea is pretty neat.
  9. So exactly how much technology do you use to find caches? When i first started caching, i printed off cache sheets and entered cords by hand. And slowly beginnning to add more tech to my geocaching routine and nowadays to find caches I: create and download PQ convert PQ for use on Palm, Topo 5, MS Streets/Trips, and SA HH. Then upload info to GPS and palm. Look on Topo andd S/t to get directions and check on terrain. Then out in the field I use my Palm to pull up and get directions to caches. Anybody the same way?
  10. I have been a firm believer in ST but until i got my palm and my SA HH software I have migrated to Delorme and just recently bought Topo 5 (which i love!!!!), so so when i decide to upgrade my street software should I make the final switch to Delorme or keepwith ST?
  11. The Georgia Geocacher's Association has annual awards voted on and nominated by the members.
  12. I know that you can grab your GPSs screen with g7towin. But what about yourpalm screen??? Is there a program that lets you grab the screen shot off your palm?
  13. on the hide/seek page i thing there this a .doc file on the right side of the page that is a roll up style log sheet for micros.
  14. You can add a trail from your GPS track using Delorme Topo 5.0.
  15. I have A palm tungsten T and a Garmin Rino. The RINO connects via serial port andI have a Portable USB hot sync cable for thePalm. Is there any way to connect the two devicesso that i could use the Rino with CacheMate and Street Atlas HH?
  16. I was also unaware some states required two plates. I knew they did "across the pond", and that would now explain why I would occasionally see out of state cars w/2 plates. I just thought theypeople i saw likedthe platesor something. I would bbuy a GC platefor up front, cause all i have is a dealershipplate andall myGC stickersare on the back of the car anyways.
  17. After reading this topic and seeing the other software mentioned, NG TOPO! and Expert GPS, I think Im going to stick with Topo 5. Because its got more features and i can put the maps on my Palm with SA HH. Yeah the interface looks confusing, but i learn that suff really easily. Topo 5 it is then!
  18. I spray paint all ammo cans to clear out ammo markings and palce a sticker outside most of them.
  19. Dear lord BrianS!!!! How in the world does all that stuff fit in your CRV and you still have room to get in it. If I was space limited in the 2-door Blazer, I most assuredly would have 3x's the about of gear I have in there now!
  20. I have an old US Robotics Palm also, nnever used it for caching though, went straight to the Tungsten T!
  21. I have: 2 Mag lites Car emercency kit 2 Tire inflators Rand Macnally(sp) Road Atlas Georgia State Atlas Various cachrgers for all electronics A giant Ammo box tied down in the bag full of cache gear (logbook, pens, pencils, caches, trade goods) 5 copies of Geo Brochure My CamelBak full of other cache gear A Geo Parking info sheet with Name and Contact info (incase of illegal parking) And countless other odds and ends in the storage compartments. Gald to see im not only one where geocaching has invaded their car!
  22. Alright kids while Im all for the popcorn, this thread has been hijacked as the question was answered some 20 posts ago. I had a feeling this would cause people to raise other questions and therefore create controverasy.(sp) so if you guys wouldnt mind settling this off forum thatd be great. Thread status going from BLUE to GREEN.
  23. The parasite caches i pointed to where pre-travel bug caches. The days when a travel bug had its own cache page (How many people remember thiose days?). Yeah i was hoping it would got an admins attention by now.
  24. They are traveling caches but not like the ones that created problems. These caches can only be placed in a physical cache that has already been placed and approved. So i didnt see a reason for them to be banned. I just didnt see any new ones recently. We need an approiver or admin in here to answer this. Sorry Duane wasnt trying to be offensive.
  25. Thought that term was well known, apparently not. A parasite cache is a small cache (say a small tupperware container) that is smaller than the average traditional cache. It is placed in a cache and that cache is "infected" with the parasite cache. Meaning that some one who goes to find the regular cache will get two finds because the parasite cache has its own logbook and trade items in itself. And anybody can pick the cache up and palce it in another cache. But it must be placed in a cache. Here some examples: The Parasite The Parasite Spawn And sorry Duane its not something evil, just a twist on the game.
