  1. Anyway, here is the fix to the problem for all those that experience the same issue. Windows Vista & Garmin eTrex Legend How to get Win Vista to work with a Garmin Legend GPSr using a serial/usb cable converter. **************************************** Weird, because I did the exact opposite... I have a new Toshiba laptop with VISTA and I just plugged in everything as I was eager to get started. Windows searched and self installed everything and I did not even insert the CD that came with the cord from Source / Radio shack. Everything is now working very best! VISTA is great! (except when playing STARCRAFT as the older networking is no longer supported with the new windows)
  2. I dont have Mapsource so I tried SportTracks but after fiddling with it for some time... it was unable to pull any data off the eTrex. Now G7toWin appears to be working fine... I am just fine tuning to get the data I need. THANKS!
  3. Please explain how you do it!! I went to Tools, GPS and it says, "Feature is only available to subscribers of Google Earth Plus". I checked the help files and it said --> Using GPS Devices with Google Earth If you have a GPS (Global Position System) device, you can connect it to your computer and import your waypoint and track data into Google Earth. Note that this set of features is available to users of Google Earth Plus, Google Earth Pro and Google Earth EC, but not the free version (see Google Earth Products). Am I on the wrong track???
  4. I have an eTrek Legend and I recently purchased a serial/USB converter so now my Garmin talks to my Toshiba (laptop). No more entering by hand! *and there was great rejoicing* Now I would like to upload my track from today into a simple map utility to see where I went. I tried on Google Earth but I need a premium membership. Is there any other free mapping program I could use? TKS
  5. yup, I guess I need to check off the day of the week... TKS All is working well now!
  6. I went out today and purchased the adaptor from Source ($29.99) and my laptop searched automatically online for the drivers and installed them (I did not have to use the install disk that came with the adaptor). Now everything appears to be running smartly! Now another question popped up today, is there any free map software that I can download my track and view on a map layout? TKS
  7. I just got an old Pocket PC and cachemate is now running perfectly. THANKS! Part two - I just ran my first querry to make a gpx file to import into the PPC... BUT where is the gpx file? Does it get emailed to you? How long does it take? (I ran the querry as a one time event and delete).
