  1. Hi GEO936, I hope to be home during that weekend (27,28 Feb) and maybe we can meet you at Memorial cache, (Not that I will help you on the cache) but just to say Hi. You guys in Pta can try and contact StirfS as they posted on the Memorial cache that they might be interested to do the Twin cache in Durban. GEO936 you will need to hike about 500m to the cache and recently Durban is very hot, and with kids hiking would not be very wise. But maybe the weather will be cooler over that weekend.

Hi GPS Storm. Happy New Year.
  3. We want to welcome BAKGAT to our game, hope that you will make many finds and have enjoyable hides. They were introduced while visiting their daughter and family who is “FlyingSyringe” over the festive season in KZN. The other good news is that they are from Ermelo and MP needs new cachers.
  4. Hi GPS Storm I am so glad you have started this topic. I agree totally with your frustration as I have also picked up that during the last year the logs became just short sentences and that most off the new cachers use the “Find and TNLNSL” logs. We did a lot off caches in your area for a week in Dec and I enjoyed writing the plenty logs that evening, it was a short off a recap for us of all that happened during the day. I enjoy a negative long log much more on my caches than a short positive single sentence. I also think with the paperless caching nowadays the cacher don’t read the listing information/history that we have prepared for days when placing the cache and tend just to follow his GPS find the cache and move on, missing the history/information totally.
  5. Hi everyone that are interested in attending the KZN Christmas event. Due to the continuous rain for the past five days and after consulting the weather specialists, we have decided to move the venue to a different location to prevent confusion on Saturday. Please visit the cache listing to get the new location.
  6. Hi The Twin Duban cache is fine to complete this weekend. Just a note, Memorial Park cache has moved to a new location a few meters away from the original location. Please visit the geocaching web to get the new Co_ords. Regards
  7. Our racing TB is ready for the race. Can’t wait for the (Slow)start?
  8. That brings the total MIA to 4 with another 3 as maybes. Cincol The "Money Bribe" TB got muggled together with my cache “Memorial Park”, and I placed the TB in the cache. Will it be OK if Anton sent me the TB COPY to place in cache when I have the cache back up and running, to continue the race?
  9. Hi Carbon Hunter I heard through the RedGlobe grape wine, that he replaced the nano log at the Eskom Megawatt park office.
  10. Yes it’s that time of the year. We want to start planning the Sandpit Christmas Event. Make a booking in your diaries for the 05 Dec 09 at around 11h00 onwards. We will finalise the venue and time later, but the theme would be again like last year with a “bring en braai” and a toy collection to help the Toy story campaign This event will also be the TB race start that Rhino and Hedgehog are mentioning.
  11. Our idea was to enjoy ourselves, and was it a joll. Thanks to every one that placed the caches. It is long since we could do 15 caches in one day without travelling long distances and we can cache next weekend and the next and the next for a long time. Thanks Fish Eagle for publishing the caches so early in the morning. We had 8 FTF’s in the day.
  12. Don’t miss The Gold Diggers Free State Ferrari, with those 500 points it can retire and still win the race.
  13. Hi Guys. I just want to inform you that I had a conversation with 1000 Hills Tourism yesterday when I tried to get permission on a particular cache. They liked geocaching so much so, that a Geocaching.com add is going to be included (Fish Eagle will check the final proposal) in the 2010 1000 Hills brochure free off charge that are being printed next week. They also invited me to the committee meeting this Saturday to explain Geocaching to the rest. We are also looking at an event to promote Geocaching in the 1000 Hills.
  14. I will see if I can go Saturday after a meeting to the Fort Durnford cache and recover the remains of container. Should disable the cache in the meantime. LOL
  15. We have three caches that we run through Fish Eagle, and have two ready for publishing, and another two we are waiting the property owners permission. Do your normal cache publishing, and give FE a note that the cache forms part of the challenge. He will check it out and disable it. See the notes I have received back. “Your cache looks great, and it's ready to publish. When you're ready for publication, just enable it or tick the little box "yes, this cache is active...." on the edit page. Location: Kwazulu Natal, South Africa Fish Eagle temporarily disabled XXXXXXXXX (Not Published) (XXXXX Cache) at 8/4/2009 Log Date: 8/4/2009 Looks good - really interesting location!! Reviewed, ready to publish, and bookmarked for 5 Sept” Now what is my login password, mmmmmmm
  16. I have tried to contact them through geocaching, but had no replies up to date. No caches have been published in that reserve so far.
  17. Now I know that times are tuff, but I did not know it was this bad for the cachers. Look what I have noticed in a local paper.
  18. Thanks Noddy for putting up this challenge. I have already one unpublished cache out there. I have two other sites in the plan, just need to find two other sites
  19. CH we are just lucky. We thought that DiePienaars coin will be a marked coin form the beginning of the race, and expect a kidnap sometime. (Shhhh don't give them ideas) One thing that we have learnt is that the year for the race is long, and that lots can happen.
  20. As the owner of a racing coin we would want the same rule to be applied to all racers, and that would mean a FTF dip for all sizes of caches. May Cincol have the wisdom of Solomon.
  21. Good luck to all the racers. Looks that this year we will have double as much competitors than we had last year. Thanks to Cincol and Anton for the work done so far.
  22. Hi Fish Eagle Is it true that you don’t like caches to be placed at bridges?
  23. We pass Comrades #4 Fields Hill every day to work and back. Depend on the direction we pass it with a distance of 2 - 4 meters. In the mornings if the traffic is very slow I have a chance to check for the owner if the cache is still in its pace, making it one of the caches that gets most checked if it is still there. (About three times a week for the last year).
  24. How about some CITO stats for SA: Total for SA CITO’s in the history and where? Cachers attendance numbers?
