It is a well known issue by many experienced users. Argue all you want, it just happens to be a fact. A strange, but true fact. Yes, phone Garmin when your out of warranty device does not work.. Great plan. Well: The problem occurs when you are out of warranty? So it did work and then stopped working? And you still want to tell us that this is "normal", we have to accept it and we have to buy gamin-cables? Well done ;-) About customer-service: I once called garmin because my gpsmap did not connect via USB anymore. It was bought in the US, I live in Germany, so there is no warranty here. I expected them to tell me to send it to garmin u.s. - the didn't. They just replaced it. I also had to call them once because one of my edges stopped working. Long after the warranty. They made me a very good offer either for repair or getting a new one. So yes. Phone Garmin when your device is broken. And when the USB is not working with regular USB-Cables, it is broken.

Of course. Nobody knows but you. *facepalm* If I have any connection issues (had some with my first gpsmap60csx, I will contact Garmin, because - and this is very simple to understand - if a USB-Device is NOT working with any proper USB-Cable, it is simply broken.

I have and had so many Gamin Devices and I never used a garmin cord. At the Moment I use GPSmap 60csx GPSmap 64s Edge 800 Edge 810 with regular cable. And I wouldn't use Garmin if I couldn't use "regular" USB-Cables.

Sorry, but the moment I plug my 64s into the USB-Port I can access both, the internal Memory and the SD-Card. I can send files to both of them - no key to press... 1) I couldn't see a reason for that other than the larger space on the sd-card? 2) If you use the compressed file you can add more than 5k of caches without noticing any delay. DON'T use single GPX-Files. 3) Why? Never did, never had any trouble.

Glonass ist ein eigenständiges System. Beide zusammen können eine höhere Genauigkeit bedeuten, vor allem in Regionen mit schlechtem Empfang. WAAS gibt es in Europa nicht. Also Stromverschwendung.

Geocaching.com is blocking most of the VPN-Provider. But don't ask me why... and they only block the access to the listings. Your profile or the app are working fine.

If you found it (you could log your name on paper or made a photolog at least), log "found" If you can't log it because it is gone, post "Needs Maintenance" If you can log it but it is also in bad shape, post both: The "Found", 'cause you found it. The "Needs Maintenance" to alert the owner (he will get a special notification). He then can check it and delete the NM-Log afterwards. Not that difficult. :-)

Öh es gibt heute ein "Startpaket"? Bei mir (2006 *hust*) gab es das noch nicht, da musste man sich noch jeden FP selbst verdienen :-)

Nö. Du darfst einen pro Cache geben. So viele wie Du hast. Aber Du bekommst nur einen FP für jeweils 10 gefundene Dosen.

Hi Zappo, klar kann ich als Owner sagen was ich davon halte. Und ich kann sicherlich auch den einen oder anderen zum Umdenken bewegen. Geht ja mit "bösen" logs auch so, nach denen der eine oder andere CO noch mal über seine Dose nachdenkt. Aber ich wäre doch schon verwundert, wenn Du mir schreibst, dass mein Log bei Max Mustermann Deinen Erwartungen nicht entspricht und Du mir mal kurz die Regel erklären wollen würdest ;-)

Löblich? Ich würd mich bedanken, wenn jetzt nicht nur die Cache-Owner mir schon vorgeben wollen was ich online zu schreiben habe (oder wie viel), sondern auch noch irgendein wildfremder Cacher mich belehren möchte. Vielleicht einfach mal ein bisschen mehr Entspannung bei dem Thema: Wer Kurzlogs schreiben will, wird das machen. Und daran werden wir "alten Säcke" nix ändern

Ich mag ein bisschen Oldschool wirken, aber viele Smartphone-Cacher sind heute so erfolgreich, weil viele CO mit Smartphone Dosen verstecken gehen. Wenn man dann mit einem GPSr daherkommt, ist man ob der Abweichung doch gerne mal erstaunt. Wobei natürlich auch GPSr-Besitzer gerne mal Unsinn bauen (oft aus Unkenntnis ihrer Geräte), aber mir scheint das ein zunehmendes Problem. Ich plädiere daher dafür, mindestens den Beta-Test mit einem guten GPSr zu machen oder am Besten gleich die Koordinaten mit einem zu ermitteln...

This idea is so simple and at the same time so great that I don't know why we don't have that already :-) So I second your request.

I use findstat, too. But without trouble. As far as I can see the expanding happens after the last external download (images etc) has finished. Maybe there is something in your stats that goes 404?

It's not the device, it is how you use it. Sorry, but you have to figure out how to switch from "Navigate me to" to "Geocaching-Mode".
