  1. I was recently traveling 2.5 hours N and had the unit lock up in about the same location traveling both directions. What I noticed on the map screen what looked like a large rectanglular box. Once there as two of them. They were rather large and seemed to be stuck to the map. Once my position hit the box it locked up. So I on/off'ed the unit and then they were behind me and rolled off the map. Has anyone else ever had a lockup due to traveling thru one? All software/firmware is updated. City Select v.7 1gig sandisk card Please post any cords where this has been an issue and map soft. I will contact Garmin and point to this thread. Could this be a mesh issue between two map sections???
  2. YES, but the real question that I cannot answer is do the older maps auto route from address, cords, cities, intersections, ect..... If that answer is no, upgrade because that feature is very important, and a waste if not used on the 60csx.
  3. I second briansnat; but if you have more cash go with the Garmin 60csx it is by far the most talked/praised about gps in these forums.
  4. Your first few should be put in manually using cords. You will need to know how to do this for most multi's. Not direct to gps, use mapsource, easygps, expergps or any of the other many progs available.
  5. 60Csx; but once you include the nav kit with maps and 1 gig card your looking at $600. It works real good. Everything can be had at amazon.com
  6. 60csx, my first gps and it works in the woods very well. The accuracy is reduced to say +/- 16 ft but always keeps a lock on the satellites. On roads its +/- 10 ft.
  7. 60csx works under canopy and even indoors 20ft from windows. But you are looking at $400 as well. $600 with maps and nav kit and 1gig msd card. I love mine but look at it as an investment over say 4-5 years.
  8. 60CSx I'll start. I was in Canton, Mi today and saw +/- 9ft on a clear day stationary in a parking lot. After setting a waypoint thru average mode I reduced that to +/- 7.8ft. While WASS was enabled I did not have the almanac data "d's" Got to love that !! It can only get better from here...
  9. Why would the accuracy in the picture above be so different? Would you say they are the same as they both have the same chip? What about the difference in helix antena? Thanks
  10. Howdy Howard! 60CSx has to be set to "off-road" function in the routing setup screen. Better yet set it to prompt so when you use the find key you can find by road routing then find again by off road routing (when you get close). Off road routing is direct line of site. Remember everything mentioned above is different then lock on road found in map setup.
  11. If you buy cityselect v.7 with the nav kit you will get the upgrade to nav v.8 for free. That will include a whole mess of mounting and 12v power to your unit.
  12. 60CSX is my first unit. It works great, very satisfied. Color is usefull mostly for maping and routing and adds a level of detail required for the smaller screen hand held units when using maps. Remember the maps ($110) are a must; route you on roads. Compass for geocaching is also nice. My accuracy is +/-10ft walking and driving. WASS only after 10min on my dash and does not last, yet (I hear it is under construction; Michigan) 1 GIG mSD card holds half usa. ($45)
