  1. I do this each time we go camping since I don't know the local roads. I use Microsoft Map Point, which works very well. http://www.microsoft.com/Mappoint/default.mspx Chris
  2. I'm still using a GPS II+, which is about the same, except the III has more detailed maps. I love the fact that you can change the screen orientation. I have it vertical when out walking and horizontal when in the car. Chris
  3. My 4 year old loves going treasure hunting. Since he’s very active, when he’s with me I only hunt caches that are in kid friendly areas. Locations that are away from highly trafficked roads, in out of the way areas, etc. This allows him to help hunt without the worry of traffic or getting into trouble. Makes it fun for both of us. He gets to choose the item we take and I put one back. Chris
  4. If this indeed true, I did find that a bird was taken offline a couple of days ago that could affecting GPS coverage in some areas according to this map: http://gps.afspc.af.mil/gpsoc/archive/prod...s_world_dop.jpg Parent link: http://gps.afspc.af.mil/gpsoc/advisories.aspx
  5. To join in, BlueDeuce, would you send me the link as well?
  6. I'm still using my Garmin GPS II. If I recall, it's about 10+ years old and still going strong. But I am starting to look for a replacement
  7. It going to be interesting to see the outcome of the claiming It almost looks like a candy bar was left in the heat…
  8. I'm using a GPS II and it's been working ok. The hardest part is not having any street info as it's not a mapping unit. I beleive the GPS III is the same. I have had my unit for about 10 years with no problems. I take that back, just a couple of months ago the rubber seal for the data port finally broke Over the years the unit has been dropped, gotten wet, etc and keeps going. But the need for street info is getting to great and now with the seal broken, it’s about time for me to upgrade. Chris
