  1. "ninny" haven't heard that word in like.......um.....forever. thanks.
  2. this will really help get your question answered.
  3. "lucky rabbits all without their feet..." good song.
  4. i like having the electronic compass on my vista hcx, besides, i got mine on sale for the same price as a legend hcx, so why not? like someone said, you can turn it off if you want. edit to say: i don't know if it's because of the electronic compass, but i feel i am finding geocaches easier nowadays.
  5. so, i'm a casual geocacher, i like doing it but don't do it that much. i usually don't even look thru the cache, just sign and log my find. it's all about the hunt for me. anyway, i'm going to japan in august and will be trying to do some geocaching while there. i figured maybe i'd find a travel bug or geocoin around my area-boca raton-and bring it there. so is it acceptable to ask here if anyone knows of one around here that i could find and take? thanks.
  6. what is the definition of 'fair weather cachers'? someone that has only 61 finds in 3 years? and what is wrong with them?
  7. are the older ones going to go down in price? and how long are they usually available?
  8. since may i've been researching geocaches around all the areas i'm going to in japan this august.
  9. yessir. i would be out of the house anyway, but other than that, yessir.
  10. yes, i've used the search function, i searched 'compass heading' no luck. i know it shouldn't matter, but it's bugging me: should i set my gpsr for true north or magnetic north and why. thanks so much.
  11. i would love to see something about track back. i just used this for the first time yesterday, but was a little confused. thanks for what you do either way.
  12. Is your "on-device" firmware up to date? The more data about a given situation, and what all has been added to the device, and versions of 'support' software; the easier it is to lend assistance. Norm The gps is new, so every thing should be up to date. That's a really bad assumption to make. Even a brand spanking new computer doesn't have the latest updates. If you want help, provide the info requested so you can be helped. Or don't. no need to be that harsh.
  13. you would also need it to have maps of germany and austria right? does a nuvi bought in england have that?
  14. have you posted this in the UK section down below?
  15. Thanks that what I wanted to know... move the maps ect. Why do you recommend against it? Nick The main reason is that you can't upload the maps to your computer from the SD card. You will need the DVD version if you want the maps on your computer. In that case you will either need the DVD or both the DVD and SD card. i'm probably missing so much, but for example: say i only use my vista hcx for geocaching and occasional auto-routing, i may use it for hiking or mountain biking in the future. why would i need to upload the maps to my pc? i also want to buy the card just because it seems so much easier, but if i'm gonna be missing out on a lot of features with the micro sd, i'll learn the dvd. so what i'm saying is: convince me. thanks. i'm about 50% tech savvy.
  16. i believe they do it as a courtesy to just let you know they don't make it anymore.
  17. some good advice already given, i'll tell you for myself though, it's either i walk right up and spot it immediately, or it takes forever.
