  1. I was FTF on this one and got a really nice pair of Motorola FRS radios that the kids and I use while geocaching or at events... heck, we even used them with some friends this weekend when we went on a small road trip and visited a zoo. TAR's not fibbing when he says he places some quality geocache items. I had such an adventure finding Gone Campin... it rocked! Here's my log for this cache: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?LU...b7-7fda3bfdba4f
  2. Hmmm... so a server that happens to be slow on its peak usage day keeps you from having fun? Maybe you should just try logging your finds on Tuesday or Wednesday when the site is getting fewer 'hits' from users.
  3. Thats a good idea PS. I typically use a background 'color' and really enjoy some cache pages that include a splash of color or an image. It allows the cache hider to somewhat express themself. Anyways, if there's anyway to allow a bit more of a background color or image it definitely has my vote!
  4. That would be pine needles... I guess it's a regional thing with the semantics But pine straw is good.... very good.... there's nothing like covering a cache with pine straw..... mmmmmmm
  5. I really, really hope Jeremy adjusts the width of the pages to allow a bit more of the background show on the screen.
  6. Here in the southeast we are pretty fond of pine straw. Yes, pine straw is good.
  7. Yes, he is Geocaching with TAR is always a fun adventure
  8. An added bonus of buying the shirt would be that it's now an antique since the site has a new 'look'
  9. As much as I love finding ammo cans, there's nothing like the thrill of finding a 100+ year-old disk that hasn't been found in 50 years Benchmarks rock!
  10. I have had this argument on these forums before now, but please allow me to once again play Devil's advocate. I'm a law enforcement officer and a geocacher. If I caught you defacing public property I would face quite a quandry. On one hand, I'm sworn to uphold the law and on the other hand I would want you to be able to create your multicache. If I caught you defacing public property, you might be able to talk yourself out of going to jail, but would you be able to do the same with an officer that has no idea what geocaching is all about? Yes, I realize that not too many people will see writing GPS coordinates on the inside of drainage pipes in culverts, but is it really worth risking jail or a fine? Anyways, it's just something to ponder. I don't want to add any fuel to the fire or discuss laws from one place to another since these can and will vary. Happy geocaching!
  11. I own a locationless cache, AV8R. I recently changed the rules on it, as far as what I required to log it and who could log it. It's a pretty popular locationless and I wanted those new to geocaching to be able to log it, so I relaxed the rules as far as allowing an airport to be logged more than once, but I tightened the photographic requirements. I clearly posted the new rules/requirement for photos, but have had to delete a log of otherwise legitimate logs since I changed the rules. I have had one or two geocachers send me some pretty nasty emails when I deleted their logs and I tried to explain to them that the requirements are fairly simple (two pictures, one of which must show you holding your GPS unit and one showing the coordinates) and to be fair to all I will enforce these rules. I have had to perform the same requirements for a couple of other locationless caches so I do know it's possible to do it.... even if you cache alone like I do a lot of the time. I hope that those geocachers whose logs I deleted will re-log the cache as I really do enjoy looking at all the pictures and knowing that I helped someone have fun and get a smiley. I truly believe that geocache owners can make the rules to log their caches as simple or complex as they desire. I know my friend, joefrog, has to do a lot of work each week to keep his Dash for Cache locationless 'pure'. Heck, he even deleted one of my logs once Anyways, happy geocaching and if you feel that you can't meet a locationless cache's requirements, don't attempt to log it because you may find that your log may be deleted by the owner.
  12. Geocachers come and geocachers go. I've been geocaching for almost 3 years. Of course my stats aren't as impressive as others, but I'm highly addicted to the game and to the sense of community that I feel with other geocachers. I have really enjoyed getting to meet some cool people and share some fun and knowledge with them. The AGA is a great organization and we have accomplished a lot. The AGA will continue to flourish because we have a great group of members who are dedicated to having good fun, fellowship and attempting to create a lot of fun and memorable geocaches.
  13. It's their cache and they can do as they see fit.
  14. Ooops... I didn't see that one I'll close this thread.
  15. Thanks Divine At least I know it's not just me
  16. I really enjoy looking at all the pictures on my locationless AV8R cache so today I clicked the 'View Gallery' link and got this error message: Any ideas Jeremy?
  17. I dunno... that's why I posted both the link and the article so that the correct credit would be given yet relieve stress on their server (see, aren't I nice) by posting the article here. Jeremy can edit it should he see the need to do so to avoid any problems.
  18. So.... who's gonna email him and invite him to participate in this friendly discussion?
  19. From here (www.counterpunch.org/donnelly02142005.html): Time to close the sport down?
  20. Ya know, my children and I have only 2 creeds when it comes to geocaching: Cache In, Trash Out and Have fun! Most of the stuff in this creed is just common sense stuff. There's no way to dictate common sense to some people, even if it's written down and available on the web. Shouldn't we just stick to something simple rather than long, drawn-out and controversial?
  21. If your ISP won't carry it, just use groups.google.com it's free
  22. You can read and post to it at: http://groups.google.com Happy geocaching!
