I believe that the main purpose of geocaching is the hunt, not the cache page. Most (lucky, not all) of the geocachers that we know don't even read their own language pages! They are only interested in one of two things: - precise coordinates - geocaching statistics The first one is universal, it doesn't matter the country where the cache is placed or the language of the description, if a traditional cache has precise coordinates, even a kid can look for it (and they do very often) without reading it. The second one only care about the coordinates and that the cache has a good hint, so he can find it quickly. As a Portuguese geocacher once asked "recommended parking? recommended trail? what for?? what about enjoying the hunt, finding the best trail (or the right one at least )" I guess he's right. I believe we can have the best of both worlds, the long multi-language pages with lots of descriptions and the nice little drive-in caches with a explicit hint.

Boa dica. Mas eu só consigo ver a opção Placed During ... Essa PQ não vai levar só as publicadas, como o nome indica ? Como se activa para as modificadas também ?

Não entrando no assunto central dos últimos posts, até porque não tenho nada a ver com isso e para falar de guidelines ou regras do fórum está cá o moderador, comento apenas sobre: A minha ideia de manter este tópico é mesmo essa, ter o país inteiro actualizado a cada três dias (por enquanto) para quem precisar ou estiver para se dar a esse trabalho. Não o sou, mas de certeza que para um caixeiro viajante dá jeito! Em todo o caso, a qualquer momento tenho de me deslocar fora da área de residência e se utilizar este sistema, estou na pior das hipóteses com informação de determinada cache três dias atrasada. Quantas e quantas vezes se lê logs como por exemplo: DNF - tinha uma query de há uma semana, não vi que tinha sido desactivada ou DNF - tinha uma query de há duas semanas, não vi que tinha sido arquivada. É possível manter 5 PQ por dia ? É. É possível actualizar o país pelo excelente sistema das datas ? É. Então só faz quem quer e aguarda os três dias por elas. Enquanto não chegarmos à PQ 16 estamos nós bem

Seriously ? And that helps how ? I'm glad you don't develop for GS then. I've programmed a bit here and there and every validation was always precious, at least by my several years as an IT professional. In your 25+ years, you should know that you have to predict erroneous cases, to provide a more user friendly environment. Or maybe that's just me, thinking to much in the user... I've always heard that most problems are between the chair and the computer monitor. Exactly. It was just a "wake up call", a simple validation on the dates would fix it. I believe it's easy for GS to include this, avoiding users to create wrong PQ. Thanks for the reply.

When you create a poquet query, using whatever data and selecting the placed data criteria, if you select a non existing day (31/02/2008), the PQ will generate a query for the next month. Example: Southern Scotland Only Tradicional, Webcam, Earth and Virtual caches Between 31/02/2008 and 31/03/2008 The result is 500 caches from 01/04/2008 forward (the first was placed at 3 Apr 08).
