  1. Well, if you have kids, you can always say that you are doing a project for school. That usually works. I also carry around a clipboard and sometimes a camera. With kids, you can also pretend you are playing hide and go seek if they are young enough. Another way is to say that you are on a treasure hunt. One time we were geocaching at night and a polic officer came over adn talked to us and my dad started babling on abuot the gps and the police officer started going away in his car and my dad followed him adn kept talking....that sure got him away as soon as he knew we weren't doing anything wrong and we were ok!
  2. I am having trouble deleting custom POIs on my handheld. I now have duplicates. How do I delete custom POIS from my Garmin 60Csx?
  3. I'm a new owner of the GPSmaps 60CSx. I find that even when I enter certain coordinates on the handheld that the last digit moves occasionally. I have my unit set to UTM and WGS84 (as well as other settings) and certain entries are not acceptable to the gpsr. From my experience the problem is the Garmin unit and software. I've had a question into Garmin since 07/05 and no response yet.
  4. I was getting similar errors and found it was a simple solution: I needed to push the usb into the GCSx till it snapped. It worked after that and I also use the front port on a Dell without any trouble. Hope your answer is this simple, Ken
  5. [WhiteCrow]: "What did you find out?" This post has been edited by whitecrow: Yesterday, 04:50 PM -------------------- Get a GPSr & go see the world geocaching style. Garmin 60Cx w/ CS7 & Palm 505 ========================== If you are talking to me, I've found out that the difference of a 1 digit change is about 5 feet. I am using WGS84.
  6. The last digit only makes about 5 feet of difference, so should be no big deal. I read someone having a similar problem on another thread but I forgot where at the moment. Thank you for the info that we are talking about only 5 feet. My daughter and I went out this evening and found the one that the coordinates did not change but couldn't find the one called "Relax A While #2" which the digit did change when I entered the coordinates. If you hear anything else on this I would appreciate you passing it on. Thanks from a 3 day set of newbies, Ken
  7. oops, I can't find a way to delete this duplicate. sorry.
  8. Since I have your attention, I am having a problem with my Garmin 60CSx too. When I enter certain coordinates quite often the last digit will change. Have you experienced this at all? Ken
  9. Try pushing the usb connection on your device until it clicks. You describe what just happened to me on my identical unit I just bought. Hope it works. My error was "Lost Power Shutting Down" Ken
  10. I have a new question that seems to fit this topic. Just bought a GPSmap 60csx and found a few caches but at some locations the coordinates I enter are changed when I click OK. It is usually the last digit of an entry. I have tried resetting any thing I found on the unit. Some entries do fine though? I'm hoping that it is me and not my GPS unit. I appreciate any advice from you all. I have searched Garmin FAQS as well as Groundspeak but no info. Thanks, Ken
