  1. Check ebay. There are cheap "battery extender"s out there for many PDAs. I just picked one up in an 8 item travel package for my Palm Lifedrive for $18. I've seen just the battery extenders for as low as $3 + $5-$8 S&H... What they are is basically a switched battery case that holds 4 AA's, with a power cord that has device specific power jack. Heres an example (by the way, this is NOT my auction, and I am NOT condoning this user, just wanted to show what I'm talking aboot): http://cgi.ebay.com/Battery-Extender-Charg...1QQcmdZViewItem

  3. I'm also interested in how you made these, and what format they are in. I would be interested in seeing McKean and Potter counties.
  4. Jamie, Why not just buy one new? This is where I bought mine from: http://www.thegpsstore.com/detail.asp?product_id=BE300
  5. i dont know if my iFinder Pro is dual processor or not, but it refreshes MUCH faster than my MeriGreen and M330. So much so, sometimes its a pain, cause when I'm standing still, the map will swing back and forth as much as 90° to 180°....
  6. i had the same problem...had one set up for every day of the week... Hadnt gotten any for over 4 days...i resubmitted one last nite, and got it this AM...
  7. I tried the demo of Mapopolis on my Palm E....Looks like a nice little program, but not free... As to more power for the Palm, there are battery extenders all the time on ebay...usually aboot $4 plus $8 S&H... Its a small "box" that holds 4 AA batteries, and plugs in to your Palm... Not sure how well they work, I havent broken down and bought one yet...
  8. Keep an eye out for the Letchworth Fall Gathering... usually the second weekend in Oct... This is one of the biggest, best, and oldest running events in NY... If you dont know, its aboot 60 miles SE of Buffalo...(aboot 1 - 1 1/2 hrs away)
  9. "Real" Landcruisers ROCK!!... Someday I hope to have my '74 back on the road...
  10. Man, is it me, or is that thing sagging in the middle?...lol
  11. i agree... I was in the shop recently, thinking of buying a baseball cap with the "old" logo...maybe anything else that caught my eye, also... Then I saw all the new products...... ....And promptly left without buying anything...
  12. OK...I have a PDA...and just starting to get into paperless caching. i have a Palm T|E...but thinking of upgrading to an E2...IF its practical to use the Bluetooth with a Bluetooth cell phone, for mobile caching... ?? Anyone?? Beuller,....Beuller?
  13. How aboot this? http://www.the-gadgeteer.com/review/aquapac_products_review
  14. I've found that Rustoleum Rusty Metal Spray Primer is a VERY good choice for blending things in with red pine logs and needles... I usually use two even coats of the primer, then spray a real light, broken pattern of flat black to add some shading (also use a flat Hunter or OD green, if it will be hidden with moss or grass along with pine needles)....Then a REAL light coat of the primer again to soften the black and/or green... teh primer and flat colors dry pretty quick...i have had ammo cans painted like this done from start to finish, and placed within 4-6 hours...
  15. Ok...I'm wondering if we are allowed to have an actual, physical cache placed for a one day event....That is listed seperately from the actual event page?
  16. Well, there were supposed to be 10 then...I hid a cache for people at the event to find, for that day only...but it got refused approval cause it was temporary... ???
  17. Another thing is, if you are a premium member, you can get weekly PQs, and sync them to the palm... That way, no matter what area you may end up in, you can hit a cache, and do searches for other nearby caches...kinda hard to do with the GPS itself...
  18. Well, otterbob, I hope you are bringing it to the CITO tomorrow...I'd like to check it out... I will have my Palm Tungsten E there if you wanna check it out...
  19. I dont know aboot the largest, but my Tungsten E works fine with a 1GB card...HTH
  20. wow...I dont think that is an accurate comparison...he said the Magellan was set to Auto- Detailed...I'm not so sure this setting will get you as "detailed" as manually setting the unit to taking a track point every 52ft...
  21. Hmmmm.... this is an interesting little comparison... http://www.msh-tools.com/maggarmin.html
  22. WOW!...you can actually find a geocache with a Map76S?!? lol... Sounds kewl...wish i still had TV...
  23. Boy, you crazy Canucks!... I KNOW Canada Post is HORRIBLY slow, but...wow....lmao
  24. I have a Tungsten E, and am planning on upgrading to an E2, just to get the Bluetooth. I was thinking aboot going this route: There are Bluetooth GPSr units being made, for example Globalsat... As to battery life on the PDA, if you are, or know an electronics geek, there are mods being done where people are fitting TWO batteries into the Tungstens... If thats not for you, there are AA battery adapters available for the Palms...Basically a rectangular, wired battery holder for 4 AA's that plugs into the USB port on the PDA.... I dont know aboot anyone else, but I carry aboot 20 sets of rechargeable NiMHs with me anyway, because my current gps, flashlights, GMRS radio, and several other devices all use AA's... So basically, I think there are options out there to deal with battery life for the PDA... I would definately get a hard case for the PDA though... the GPSr is a small standalone unit, that you can put on a hat, clip to your belt, or put in a vest or pack pocket...so that would be less to have to carry in your hands, or attached to card slot in the PDA...
  25. OK, I must be retarded...I cant get that box to even appear in the toolbar, at the end of the address box.... HELP?!?!
