    Summer Of '69

I have read the logs for Summer of '69 (GCC3DC) and believe every word of them since they are from long time cachers. I have NOT even visited this site because of the logs. The only people to actually find the cache are Flowerman, Big Call, Dartborard Gang, Gaiterman, CCCooper Agency, and JoeCthulhu. Logs also indicate that RobAGD, and CobrCmdr attempted this one, but either didn't make it to the cache or couldn't find it. Over the next couple of days the temperature is suppose to remain near freezing during the day. Is this enough to tackle this one? I don't really want to attempt this by myself because of the logs that have described almost being stuck in mud up to the thighs. I'm adventureous, but I think I would like some insurance with me on this. My guess would be the best time to try this would be in the morning before any sun could start the ground thawing out. So, anyone want to get together and try this one this weekend? I know someone started another subject on Blood and Guts also. Maybe we could combine the two over the weekend? Anyone that has found this want to come along and point us in the right direction? Gary

    Blood & Guts Cache

I would love to be included in the "team" that works on this one. I have a little inside information on stage one, but I'm not sure if it is proper to post it here, or keep it to private emails? Suggestions? On a another side note and subject, I am thinking of trying to get together a group to do Summer of '69 (GCC3DC). The next couple of days are suppose to remain really close to freezing all day which would make this an ideal time. I'll start another subject off the main forum so that these two caches won't get mixed up. Gary
  3. Congradulations ArtWeld for hitting 300 before the end of the year. May the next year bring you many more caches and wonderful memories. Gary
  4. You shouldn't have to select Difficulty or Terrain. Just leave them blank. With a zipcode selected, you shouldn't need to select States either. One thing I DIDN'T see was in a "radius of" x miles. I don't remember what the default number is, but you may want to put in 100 miles just to cover the basis. Then once you recieve a file, you can refine it from there. Gary

    Pocket Query Error

When I used Mobipocket, I DID have some caches with wrong cords. I switched to Plucker and Spinner and things are fine now. Gary
  6. Congrats to both Bigcall and Gaiterman for reaching 700! I almost feel I need to buy a new vehicle and I just pasted 400! The driving time just keeps getting longer and longer. But yes, it is all still fun. Gary

    Watchlist Lost?

Anybody else loose their Watch List? I logged in this morning and had a message about sending a validation email. This happened to me once before, so I did it once again. I then went to "my page", them "Manage WatchList" and the only item I have is one that I had put in this morning? All others have found their way to the bit bucket. My Travel Bugs seem to be intack as do my logs. It's just the watch list that went south? I did try to log all the way out and back in again to see if that was a problem, but it didn't bring them back. 8. I waited a little over 24 hours and decided to delete my duplicate logs. Hopefully the count will stay corrected now. Gary ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Drop back 10 and ........trip over the cache.
  9. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all remains stable, but I just went and deleted all my "duplicate" logs for the caches. Gary ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Drop back 10 and ........trip over the cache.

I've found that is next to nothing compared to what I spend on gasoline. George Amend! Here is another one. The price of a postage stamp goes up 3 cents and people want to quit mailing anything. Gas goes up 50 cents/gallon and they plan a vacation. Go figure? Gary ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Drop back 10 and ........trip over the cache.

I see nothing wrong with the cache being set into the ground with the lid being flush. You would just have to unscrew the lid, no digging involved. How can that be considered buried?? If the rule exist because we do want to mess with mother nature by digging holes in the ground well then thats another story. Opps, sorry for the previous post. I didn't do any typing before hitting post. You sort of answered your own question. If the treasure is buried, then "someone" had to dig. As I understand it, places like parks do NOT want ANY holes dug in their enviorment. Consider it along the lines of camping - "Leave no trace". If for some reason you decide, or have to, remove the cache, then there would be a hole in the ground that was not there before. Just my opinion, not an offical statement. 13. Hmmmm, noticed that my "Found" count went up by 4 overnight. I had previously re-logged my DisQuoi caches and now there are duplicate logs. Not sure who, but someone with admin privs(?) has restored the original logs?????? If you see your "Found Count" jump up, you may want to check DisQuoi's caches to see if you have duplicate logs. I am going to wait a day to see if someone purges the duplicates automatically. Gary ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Drop back 10 and ........trip over the cache.
  14. Way to go DJS_111!!! May the next 300 be as fun as the first 300. Gary ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Drop back 10 and ........trip over the cache.

The first released didn't have any basemap. Later Garmin released the same model with different firmware that had a basemap buit in. You couldn't just download new firmware, you would have to send your II+ in for an upgrade if you had the earlier version as I do. 16. I had been waiting about 8 months for the Garmin IQUE to hit the streets. I figured I could upgrade my PDA AND my GPS at the same time. When I read a review of the unit that claimed only 2 hours of battery while using the GPS, I figured I would wait a little longer for something else. 17. Removed the from my signature, logout, logged back in. Hopeing that took care of the signature so the Admnins wouldn't have to. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Drop back 10 and ........trip over the cache.
  18. Seems my ISP decided to change their web based email program over the weekend but not tell me about it. I seemed to have lost all my saved email and address book! If anyone of my fellow cachers have emailed me and expected a reply, you may want to send me the email again. Thanks, Gary ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Drop back 10 and ........trip over the cache.

That's why I asked. I have no idea how things are layed out in DC. Someone posted that their daughter would be able to do it up till noon(I think), and RogAGD said he got snagged to work so he could do it from 11-5(I copied his work phone). Looking at the map it appears it would be 6-8 blocks out of our way. We could even hit it at the end to see if anyone still had any energy left to walk to it, or leave it up to the group that shows up? This all sounds like fun!!!!!!!!!! 22. There will be a few of us doing the following event - http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=gcgva4&Submit6=Find And our walk will take us close to this. We may try to rescue him if he is still there. Gary ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Drop back 10 and ........trip over the cache.
  23. JoeCthulhu, I posted a note on the cache page about the possibility of going by "Washington DC Live" and grabbing a group picture if we could find someone at home by their computer. While looking at the map of the suggested caches, I saw a few that you might want to look at and possibly add. Your walk, you decided. GC8B0C Actor Really Did Break A Leg GCDE1 Capitol View GC2657 I Can See Lincoln G2D0 Capitol Happy (at least look for the clues) Unless someone else gets this, there is also a stranded Travel Bug real close to our walk. http://ubbx.Groundspeak.com/6/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=5726007311&f=7316058331&m=17260619 Gary ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Drop back 10 and ........trip over the cache.
  24. So, what is the official start time? Meet at the posted coords? Do you happen to know what stop that would be on the Metro? I don't think my GPS will work on the subway, or I wouldn't ask what stop it was! ha ha ha ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Drop back 10 and ........trip over the cache.
  25. Sure wish you would have posted this on the 3rd! I was around those coords all day on Saturday the 4th. I do plan on going back, but it may be a couple of weeks before I get there. If I see that no one else has helped you out, I'll be glad to take a picture at the coords and email it to you.
