  3. I recently decided to take the plunge and ask my girlfriend to marry me. When trying to come up with an idea on how to make the proposal special for both of us, I thought of geocaching. We have been geocaching for about a year and both love it very much. She likes the hiking and I like the gps unit. Anyways back to my story. I set up a temporary geocache in a forest just down the road from my house. I took her out to search for the geocache and made it so that she would find it. When she opened up the geocache there was a note inside that declared my love for her and asked her to turn around. When she turned around I was down on one knee with the ring in hand and asked "Will you marry me". She started to cry and through her tears of joy managed a yes. Thank you for reading my story and I invite you to share your unique uses for geocaching fun.
  4. i have to admit that i did not know this. So the urg to google took over and i googled it. I do this when ever i do not know something. I am disapointed that I fell asleep for the last 10 caches and wont get the full 51 finds in a 24 hour period. But the sleep did help for the hour and a half drive back home. those 41 finds puts me to 67 finds. sweet. That was a blast. I am defintely come to the next one. Hopefully i will make the full 24 hour next time. geek-e

  13. dano you are correct. Navigation was born over 6000 years ago on the Indus River in India. Good job. Lets have a question. geek-e
  14. To keep this going I will give a hint. It happened on the Indus River and happened at the beginning of the Bronze Age.
  15. Thank you charliezulu. I have another two part question. How long ago was the art of navigation born and in what country? geek-e
  16. AV is correct, but it's a two part question! He is still kicking around and lives in Sri Lanka. Among other little things, he wrote 2001: A Space Odyssey. Herman Potocnik published the book "The Problem of Space Travel - The Rocket Motor" in 1929 were he conceived a space station in detail and calculated its geostationary orbit. The paper you are talking about for Arthur C. Clarke was published in 1945 entitled "Extra-terrestrial Relays"

  19. It can be difficult to get used to walking with a gps. Practice in a safe environment and you will get it. If I can get the hang of walking with a gps anyone can do it. geek-e
  20. What PDA and what software are you using on it? Which cache was it? What file type are you viewing (.GPX or mobi)? I am using a sony clie using palm OS and mobipocket to view. The cache was GCWXET. mobi. geek-e All knowledge is good knowledge. It is how we use it that is good or evil
  21. I have started to use my pda and gpsr together on my geocaching adventures. I have noticed that the descriptions or information that is on my pda is missing the waypoints for the caches> There is no information about them. I bring this up because i came across a cache to day where the questions needed to finish the cache were attached to the waypoints(which i had no information on). i am not sure as to how the system is set up but i was wondering if it were possible to have the information added to the pda file. Maybe as an appendix or right with the inormation on the cache itself. geek-e All knowledge is good knowledge. It is how we use it that is good or evil.
