  1. Wow, that was fast -- I was just interviewed a week ago! I'll have to try to get my hands on the magazine. One good thing that came out of this is that the journalist hooked us up with that land manager, and we'll be meeting with him to address his concerns. He's a nice guy, but he's been told by others who were told by others who were told by others....that geocachers are being destructive. I think that the WSGA parks advocacy committee will be able to work things out with him. Cin
  2. Hey, Kitelady, I see that there's a new cache dedicated to you: Kite Lady's Flight Kewl! cin
  3. Criminal's suggestion is the nicest one. One way to keep people from signing the first waypoint is to place it on something that won't work for pens/pencils -- use a marker on a piece of plastic, cover the slip of paper with clear tape, or laminate it. Cin
  4. Wow, you must have one of those amazing shrinking coins if it will fit in a BD cache! Cin
  5. Did you doublecheck it against the log at the final micro, to make sure that people didn't sign both places? I've seen that happen before (cachers who sign every slip of paper along the way). I think it's probably a mistake by most of the finders -- they found a log that had signatures, so they thought they had the final. I'd contact them, let them know, and ask them to change their find to a note until they can come back to complete the multicache. Betcha most slap their foreheads, say D'oh!, and come back to finish it off. Cin
  6. I haven't cached in Alaska, but I've seen this resource posted for others before: Alaska Geocaching I believe they have forums, as well as much other information. Hope it helps, cin
  7. It was great fun getting to watch the potato move...and I even participated once! I'm looking forward to meeting all of the cachers whose names I saw over and over. Cin
  8. Every once in a while someone from Wyoming posts to these forums. I believe that the most active caching region is around Rock Springs, which isn't too far from Evanston. There are also many, many cachers and caches just across the border from Evanston (in Utah). Oh, and not all of the caches are covered in snow or frozen. During the winter it's actually quite sunny in Wyoming, and the wind tends to blow away the snow. Cin
  9. This morning I clicked through the various events and new caches listed on Washington Geocaches page. The Bellingham Cache Machine seems to have a new date (the 28th), so it no longer conflicts with the Peninsula Cache-In. Cin
  10. I got it on Pot of Gold(something like that). /me beams with pride Sorry to disappoint you, TravisL, but there's a new Pot O' Gold cache located in Seattle near the west side of the Evergreen bridge. Pepper and I did, however, compare stories of when we did that other Pot o' Gold cache. Here's the new one: Arboretum Pot O' Gold by The Forecaster Cin
  11. My first reaction is to do a little jig of happiness -- new EGH caches!!!! Then I stop and wonder, "what does he mean by some bushwhacking?" Cin
  12. I can report that Pepper is still a little sore from yesterday, but in spite of it we managed to find 8 caches and hide one. It was a beautiful day for geocaching. We went over and cleaned up Queen Anne hill, found some new ones by UW, and crowned things off back on the Eastside by finding one of the evil hides by Beamin' Demon. I really really really really really really really needed to be out caching today. One day of geocaching in the sunny northwest, and I'm refreshed and relaxed. See you all tomorrow at the WSGA meeting? Cin
  13. I think there are a few new ones just on the other side of the lake, and there are a few in W. Seattle and Queen Anne that we've been waiting to do (wanted a clear day for the views). It it's too cloudy for a a beautiful vista, we'll head to the north end of the city. It sure is nice to have 250 waypoints in my GPS, plus those 250 cache pages in my smartphone. It lets me be a little less planned, a little more carefree. Cin
  14. I am going out caching tomorrow!!!! It may sound like a little thing, but I've only been getting about one cache a week lately. Too much work, too many responsibilities, and not enough free time. Tomorrow Pepper and Cin are heading in to the big city. Every once in a while its good to get away from the eastside. Cin
  15. Wow, EGH, those photos were great. What a beautiful day for showshoeing! cin
  16. I spend way too much time on the highways commuting between the Harbor and the Base, you ain't getting me back on them to drive north to any meeting. (We asked for the meetings to rotate once and a while but it was shot down.) The three in Tacoma are right off the 72nd street exit, easy to get to. The Puget Sound chapter meetings are rotating, so they do move around the area. I'm not setting those up any more, but last fall we held meetings in Federal Way, Redmond, and Everett. By the way, the people who volunteered to set up the meetings this year are Pepper, Janet, and Paul (aka Wander Lost, Team Supergenius, and RightWingWacko). It's a much tougher job than it seems -- it's hard to find free venues for groups of about 60 people. And....if you'd like one to be even further south or over in Gig Harbor, perhaps someone in that area would volunteer to help. It takes a local to find a spot for getting together! Cin
  17. One of my favorite sites too I think that Strongbad would love Hot Potato -- dibs on him for the north team. cin
  18. I know EGH has seen this, but have you all noticed that there's a Bellingham Cache Machine on Feb. 21? http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...be-6706e259651a Cin
  19. I wonder just what that demon is beamin' about? I just have to get out and give some of these new tough hides a try. Oh, in other fun cache news....CameraThyme and NomadRaven are hosting a cache event this coming Sunday. Come Rain, Come Shine, Come Hail or High Water Looks like it will be a fun time, tailgating with other cachers at a park in Federal Way. Cin
  20. What a fun birthday you must have had! Thanks for showing us the article. cin
  21. I'm going to try to be there, since it's so close for me. I've got a day filled with meetings, so it depends on whether I have enough time. Cin
  22. Do we have a new devious cache-hider on the Eastside? Check out the new caches left by Beamin Demon. Here's one: I Would!
  23. 2 is also the channel I've heard about (and used a few times)
  24. Where in the northwest do you live? cin
