  1. Goldkey, Although resistance is futile, we must. Unfortunately, all paypal orders are currently fulfilled manually by Jeremy as it is not a service offered by Sunrise Identity. Sunrise can not offer the service because USPS does not provide a method of tracking or verifying delivery on a $.50 shipment and Sunrise must be able to verify shipment in order to receive payment for the orders in most, if not all circumstances. As you might imagine, fulfilling these orders manually is a huge task for Jeremy and in the interest of having his extraordinary efforts directed optimally, this is not a burden we wish to increase at this time. One day we may have the resources to handle such tasks independently. Unfortunately, that day has not yet arrived. I hope this helps although I know it won't reduce the shipping charges on your patches/stickers. Happy Geocaching! Sincerely, Bryan (Rothstafari) Groundspeak
  2. Bryan Roth here. I work for Sunrise Identity, the promotional merchandise company for Groundspeak. This is my full time job. I am also a member of the Groundspeak team and I have some answers for you. Sunrise Identity ships via UPS only. They do not ship via USPS. The base charge for UPS Ground shipping (and handling) on the Groundspeak site is $6.00. If you are ordering one sticker, the base charge will apply. Unfortunately, UPS charges Sunrise a base charge for shipping any package, regardless of weight and the prices then go up from there. Groundspeak receives no money whatsoever for any of the shipping and handling charges received by Sunrise. The cost does include box charges and labor and is passed directly to the customer. What you will find (or have already found) is that the shipping charges are much more cost effective for larger orders (Not necessarily much larger, but certainly larger than 1 travel bug or one sticker). Looking at the 7 most recent orders placed in the last 24 hours, here are the associated shipping charges (some of these orders include WA state sales tax so order amounts fluctuate slightly relative to shipping costs): Order Amount Shipping Amount $81.40 $7.50 $25.99 $6.00 $51.94 $6.50 $48.95 $7.00 $42.48 $7.00 $104.00 $14.00 (UPS 3-Day Select) $67.45 $7.00 I hope that this helps. Happy Geocaching! Sincerely, Bryan Roth (Rothstafari) Groundspeak Sunrise Identity too. [This message was edited by Bryan (Admin) on November 20, 2002 at 08:52 AM.]

  5. Hi. I am a Groundspeak guy but I also work for Sunrise Identity (my day job). As part of my day job, I manage the Groundspeak promotional merchandise program. Since I work for both companies, I am the one who sets up bulk sales and distribution for the merchandise. The answer to your first question is: YES, we can provide bulk discounts to groups or for events. Anyone can feel free to email me to discuss this further. bryan@Groundspeak.com The answer to your second question is also YES. With permission of Groundspeak, Sunrise Identity can co-brand the Geocaching merchandise in a variety of ways. Please note that production of small quantities of certain items can be cost prohibitive. Again, please feel free to contact me for details. One suggestion for a fundraising item that we have been considering is state magnets. We could allow state organizations to use the Groundspeak logo, royalty free, to produce co-branded state-shaped magnets which could be combined with all states to form a collectible US map magnet. It could be pretty cool to seek out Geocaching magnets from specific states to add to geocachers' personal map collections. It would also help generate funds to support the many geocaching organizations out there. Obviously there are many considerations involved (same scale magnets) and we welcome any feedback on this idea. Your Thoughts? Happy Geocaching! Sincerely, Bryan a/k/a rothstafari www.Groundspeak.com bryan@Groundspeak.com

  9. We, at Groundspeak, are really not trying to rain on anyone's parade. However, please note that no individual or company should be producing geo-coins using the Geocaching.com logo, in any form, without express written permission from Groundspeak a/k/a Grounded Inc. To do so would constitute a violation of our Trademark rights and would require Grounded Inc. to take appropriate action to enforce our rights in the mark. Please consult the Geocaching Logo Usage and Trademark Information Guidelines for further information and, hopefully, to gain a better understanding of our policy and reasons for the policy: http://www.geocaching.com/about/logousage.asp Additionally, please feel free to send permission requests and/or related questions to logo@Groundspeak.com. Best Wishes and Happy Geocaching. Sincerely, Bryan Groundspeak

  11. Groundspeak received the following email. This is posted with permission from the sender. Please take note: "To whom it may concern, My name is Mike Shannon. I am the Park Ranger at the Banks-Vernonia State Trail in Oregon. The reason I am sending you this email is to let you know of some problems we are having with GeoCachers at the Park. Of the 6 or so caches currently in the Park, only one has asked permission to place his cache. The others have been placed without any contact to or permission from Oregon Parks and Recreation Dept. (OPRD). Another, and more serious, problem we are having is trespassing at night after the park has closed. It seems that some GeoCachers like to look for the caches in the dark. The Banks-Vernonia State Trail is a day-use only park, and closes at dusk. Because of this, GEOCACHING WILL NO LONGER BE ALLOWED AT THE BANKS-VERNONIA STATE TRAIL, effective immediatly. I am trying to contact all the owners of caches placed in the Park to come and get their caches. If anyone has any questions about this, they can contact me directly at 503-324-0606. Thank you. Mike Shannon" Rothstafari www.Groundspeak.com
  12. Perhaps you can attach a travel bug to one of those USB keyfob disk drives. http://diskonkey.com/ That way, people could upload their own video files (or photos) to the drive (assuming enough memory and ethics capacity). I guess the price may be high now but eventually they be cheap enough... Happy Geocaching! -Bryan
