  1. I like dogs, however, I have a great disdain for people who bring their dogs either to my house, or to social events I am attending, especially when their dogs are not well-mannered and the owners don't care what the dogs do. My inlaws think it's funny to ge their dogs to chase my cats. I don't. My inlaws think it's ok for their 3 smelly dogs to get on my furniture. I don't. My inlaws think it's ok to let their 3 smelly dogs in my house. I don't. I have been many places when people have brought an ill-mannered dog, and it really is a burden on all involved. As far as camping, that is even worse. A campout is enough trouble without someone's dog rampaging around the campsite, knocking things over, kicking and shaking dirt and who knows what else all over the place, jumping up on people, trying to get food from people, peeing or pooping all over the place, etc.....Like I said, I like dogs, but have great disdain for people who bring around dogs that are not well behaved. I used to own a German Shepherd and a Chihuahua, both were pleasant and well-behaved. Both could come in the house because they did not stink, did not chase the cats, did not get on the furniture, etc. I gotta go with uperdooper on this one: don't bring the dog. The other campers will thank you for it. I agree that the issue is more with the behavior of the dog versus dogs in general. With proper training, my dogs are better behaved than most small children I have seen. In fact, I've trained my dogs to obey hand commands. How many can say that about their children? See my slighty modified quote of the one above: "I like small children, however, I have a great disdain for people who bring their small children either to my house, or to social events I am attending, especially when their small children are not well-mannered and their parents don't care what the small children do. 2. Just out of curiosity, what are the possibilities of pressing a civil suit against Ronnie and his buddy? At the very least, there's unlawful detainment. Assault with a deadly weapon? What are the other possibilities? Just an armchair lawyer; left my $0.02 and took nothing. -Frank
  3. I wonder if the writer is aware of the "bush-whacking" that occurs when people are searching for a cache. "Its all fun n' games until someone tries to profiteer off of it." -Frank
  4. There's lots of cool stuff that would make great swag even if it has advertising logos on it. For me, it comes down to the intent of the person who's leaving the item. Am I leaving it because its cool swag? Or am I leaving it as advertising so the I or someone I know will benefit from it? Left my $0.02 and took nothing, -Frank
  5. Isn't leaving your business cards, (IE commercial purposes) against geocaching rules? Especially leaving a whole stock of them instead of just one as a marker? -Frank
  6. On the theme of "bad trades", I've noticed that the easier find caches near large urban centers seem to be the most prone to "bad trades", trade-ups and generally end up having junk left in them. It seems like the more effort that is required to find a cache, attracts the sort of people who are more prone to treat the cache and its contents respectfully. Does anyone else feel that this is the trend? Left my $0.02 and took nothing, -Frank
  7. After reading a few threads on trades and travel bugs, I'm now in a quandary. Are TBs considered trade items within a cache? Now, I've always played the game as if they were. I traded an item for it when I picked one up and traded another item for it when I dropped it off. I've also followed the rule of "leave an item, take an item". So even if I came across a cache to ten(10) TBs in it, I'd only trade for one. What's everyone opinion on this? -Frank
  8. Well, I got my TB bug tags; even got cute, fuzzy, expensive, collectible travellers to put them on; but now I'm stuck. I need "Bug Sheet"s and instructions for the travel bugs to include with them. Having looked at some really good ones created by the caching community in general, I thought I'd try my hand at creating one as well. If anyone has any "Travel Bug" related graphics, images or icons, I'd appreciate it if you would e-mail them to me. My objective is try and create a generic "bug sheet" and instruction card that will scale to whatever size you need it in and anyone can print directly very simply. Thanks everyone in advance for helping me out on this, -Frank
