  3. Quite appropriate for this forum I would say.
  4. Have you got shares in the Post Office, Mandy??? I kinda thought that the idea of a travel bug was to move from CACHE to CACHE in a somewhat random and hap-hazard fashion, ultimately and hopefully achieving some goal set by the bug's owner. The fun coming from not knowing where they'll end up next. Sorry, but to my mind, just posting them round the country from one person to another has little or nothing to do with geocaching To right. This is not Geocaching at all. Its using a massage board to play a different game altogether. Enough is enough. Set up a site and play it there.
  5. Could be this un http://www.brillig.com/geocaching/

Some people are born great, some achieve greatness, and some just grate Surely poetic licence is being used here. Unless of course the New Forrest deer are deaf and have no legs
  7. quote:Originally posted by Team AshandEs:I doubt anyone on this board regardless of their position on virtuals thinks War Memorials are meaningless. This what I was trying to point out and nothing more. ________________________ What is caches precious? Ok. Fair enough.
  8. Team AshandEs said I would have thought that this quote from the original post Would have answered these questions for you. No one has suggested the sites you are defending are meaningless. Eckington: There are also places; Sites of Special Scientific Interest and Ancient Monuments, War Memorials, and sites of Social or Community Interest where we think a virtual cache is appropriate. These we would approve. what about this quote then. quote:Originally posted by Eckington: Research is limited but we feel that in many USA urban areas virtual caches have become, perhaps, meaningless to a certain extent. Eckington and Lactodorum
  9. So there you go. We are all different. Good job too. I forgot when I posted. One mans meat is another man poison. Some like the walk, some like the logbook, some are more interested in the contents. So a bad walk to a rubbish tip that has a cache with £20 pound note in would have some people in heaven. Whereas a beautiful walk to a fantastic location with a cache full of Mctat would give pleasure to others. Mind you a Good walk to a fantastic location and a 20 pound note? Any takers. Obviously there are some out there who like sig key rings and the like. I stand corrected.
  10. quote:Originally posted by adrianjohn: One cache done TNLN and you're an expert are you? Have boots and GPSr, will cache for fun! So you have to be an expert to see that complaining about something without doing anything about it is not improving things. Please accept my profound apologies.
  11. quote:Originally posted by Sparticus: Onwards and upwards. Never retreat, never surrender. HA not on this message board.
  12. quote:Originally posted by Team Blitz:In most cases it was "took nowt, left one of our keyrings". So, whilst the locations were reasonable, the cache boxes themselves were very uninspiring. Paul Another proud member of the GAGB! And after your visit they improved dramatically (A Key Ring WOW) Why not a Gold watch or a diamond ring. If YOU had put something in worthwhile I may have sympathized with you.
  13. QUOTE] Rubbish! The service is the website the caches are the content. I don't agree. Anyone who places a cache is doing a service to other cachers. GC.com is a place you can advertise them free. BT offer a service, They advertise in all forms of media even media that has pulled them to bits in the past. People who get into the soap box have their say and leave do not deserve to be taken seriously in my view.
  14. If you don't like your phone company you change to another one. That's all I've done. No it is not.As you are the provider of the Caches you place. You do not pay anything for this. And you deprive people who use GC.com of your caches. So if its a bit like anything, it's like BT taking the hump, and cutting you off because you said that you were not happy with the service.
  15. If you don’t play my way I’m not playing ether and you’re not using my ball. I hear that in the school yard said by 5 to 10 year olds. Certain people have said this regarding geocaching several time when things don’t go as they want. Why do they do it? Is it to get “please don’t go” posts. Either that or you do not have the courage of your convictions. Moss has quit or threatened to quit at least three times because he was not getting his way. (going way back to the commercial caching debate GC.com allowed it Moss threatened to take his ball in.) Tim and June I think three times as well Icenians quit and pulled off their caches from GC.com. There have been others. I thought these people were adults I now have my doubts. Perhaps they are just 7 year olds masquerading as grown ups. I feel another guideline coming on. No cache must be placed that these people can’t get to in their prams.
  16. I don't approve of glass containers, nor do I approve of making up the rules. Glass containers are allowed so until the guidelines are changed allow them. An approver should stick to the guidelines when approving caches not do it as they see fit. L8 Ed is NOT a Member or Supporter of Geocaching Association of Great Britain.

  20. Oh dear oh dear. In simple terms the analogy,(not riddle) means that we need people like Icenians just as much as we need people like The Northumbrian. OK. ***NOT*** a Member of or Supporter of Geocaching Association of Great Britain******
  21. quote:Originally posted by The Northumbrian: quote:Originally posted by L8 Ed:---------------- Or we will be left with ….. well you know what. ***NOT*** a Member of or Supporter of Geocaching Association of Great Britain****** let us in on the secret, What will we be left with? The only thing I can think of is a bottle of tonic Nige The Northumbrian is a member of The Geocaching Association of Great Britain Exactly, take away the Gin and Tonic becomes undesirable. 22. ----------------Icenians--------------------- I don’t agree that you should make your point then naff off. Very bad form. Stick to your guns and carry on. Or we will be left with ….. well you know what. The game needs people like you for a balanced view. ***NOT*** a Member of or Supporter of Geocaching Association of Great Britain******
  23. Not in my book also. But It's there on the site and it seems its a bit of fun. A lot of people play along with it. But daft?
