  1. I'm sorry that I didn't start a thread in the forum before submitting the category for peer review - I've been a geocacher for a long time (since 2006), but I've only recently become more intensively involved in Waymarking. I wasn't aware that it's customary to first ask for opinions and suggestions for improvement in the forum and I didn't find any hints or instructions about the correct way to submit a category. This was my first attempt and I apologize if I didn't follow the usual procedure. I understand that my description was too vague, that more restrictions are needed for creating new waymarks in this category and differentiation from other categories. I will revise the description and then resubmit it for peer review. I hope for your lenience and look forward to constructive suggestions for improvement.
  2. Is there an easy way to find the adventures I have played but haven't rated and/or logged yet? For me, an "easy way" also includes exporting the AL logs to GSAK and filter them there, but I couldn't find a way to only show the unrated and unlogged adventures (if there is any besides checking them one-by-one in the app). Any ideas?
  3. Is Groundspeak even aware of this issue? Maybe we should "report a bug" to draw their attention to this..?
  4. I remember when I ran a db search in gsak to find all my logs with [s] and [/s] and "This log has been edited by ..." and cleaned my logs manually afterwards - those where the days! Why are they doing the same mistake again?
  5. I also noticed that behavior, the markdown codes like [:)] will now be rendered as the unicode emoji, depending on your operating system. I'm not sure what's the cause of that but since there's no thread in the "Release Notes" forum here, I assume Groundspeak made some changes "under the hood". Some markdown codes are now rendered into a unicode emojis that doesn't resemble the same emotion in my opinion. I used the [xx(] markdown code to express disillusionment, disgust or exhaustion - now it renders to a skull! The "black eye" markdown code [B)] that I used to express situations that were uncomfortable but not bad or like a facepalm now renders to an emoji with a head bandage. My existing logs may now be misinterpreted by those who read them now with the unicode emojis. It would've been better to grandfather the markdown emojis but keep them in old logs to preserve the original statement and meaning and not just convert them into different-looking and different-feeling unicode emojis. Just my two cents. My log with the "good old" markdown emojis: Same log with the new unicode rendered emojis:
  6. Wherigo and Adventure Labs are two totally different game types. While Wherigo allows to build complex procedures with triggers, conditions and dependencies and even allows to implement items and characters into the story, Adventure Labs is just "five virtual finds" with a very limited set of customization options, beginning with the limit of five "zones" or "locations". Another big difference is that you'll find a physical container when you finish playing a Wherigo and with AL everything's virtual (except the owner published an AL bonus cache on geocaching.com). Wherigo cartridges can be played offline while you'll need an active internet connection to play AL. These are only three big differences and I could continue this list with another ten. If AL was ever planned as the follow-up of Wherigo, there is a lot to add to the AL app to only come close to what Wherigo offers.
  7. Over the past few years, I was trying to get any tiny piece of information about the future of Wherigo from lackeys I met at events but the answer was always the same. You guessed it - noone could tell me anything about it. I'm not sure if it was just because nobody cared about that topic at GCHQ or if there was some top secret project going on but seeing the almost abandoned and hopelessly outdated "official" website Wherigo.com and the "3rd party project" wherigofoundation by Ranger Fox that was left to its fate in 2014 I'm not convinced about the "top secret project" option anymore. Whenever GCHQ asked for my opinion in a poll or survey, I asked for news or even a plan or a roadmap for Wherigo but it seems that it's just the unwanted stepchild of GCHQ. I'd love to see synchronized logs for my Wherigo finds across geocaching.com and Wherigo.com, merged statistics to find out which of my found wherigos are still missing a completion code (and a log), a Wherigo builder further developed than to alpha state (maybe think about collaborating with external partners like urwigo who have already developed a decent application) and much more. I'm absolutely convinced that Wherigo had so much potential if it was fully integrated to geocaching.com - please consider resuming to work on that project again.
  8. Is it legit to log your own Adventure Labs as "found"? On one hand, it's just like logging your own geocaches (which isn't possible anymore), but on the other hand it's technically possible to log your own AL's. I'm really annoyed about seeing my own AL's on the map in my homezone. In my opinion, Groundspeak should mark them with a star as "owned" like they to for own geocaches and make it impossible to log them plus implement a filter to hide your own AL's. I'm unsure if I should log them or leave them. What do you think?
  9. I understood the meaning of "moving forward" like "as an enhancement" or "to progress, modernize" but as I'm not a native speaker I maybe misinterpreted that. I'm quite confused that your externally hosted pictures seem to be okay, because it broke all my external hosted pictures without me editing anything in the listings. Maybe the pictures just SEEM to be okay on your side and they're cached locally on your computer? You can try to open a listing in "private browsing" mode to see if they're still displayed correctly.
  10. The original statement above differs a lot from what Andrew told me in his reply. Actually, for me it's not possible to display any images - with or without attached cookies - if they're hosted outside geocaching.com, Dropbox or Google Drive. Furthermore, it doesn't only break images that are "entirely dependent upon third-party cookies" but it break all images hosted outside of the mentioned platforms. Groundspeak, please clarify! Who's right? Erin or Andrew?
  11. Today, I received a quite devastating reply from Groundspeak: This must be a joke. "Moving forward"?! This feels like moving backwards not only one step. It is not expected that they will revert the change, so it is highly likely that all of my "non-standard" puzzle caches will disappear because of this Groundspeak change. Sadly, it looks like the community will lose interesting puzzles because of this unreasonable move from Groundspeak. Let's all throw some 1/1 micros under a lamppost. Yay. Welcome to Geocaching 2.0
  12. I ran into the imgproxy issue with some of my cache listings as well... I have a file extension in the url, my web server sends the content-type header... It would be good to know what the imgproxy expects from the remote web server so I can adjust that. I keep getting "not found" from the proxy for this url: https://www.muggelfrei.at/caches/schlaflos/N2.png imgproxy rewrote it to: https://imgproxy.geocaching.com/ea8bc1cb2deb3a8fa89698870b452f8d77abb9fe?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.muggelfrei.at%2Fcaches%2Fschlaflos%2FN2.png What am I doing wrong and how can I fix that?
  13. I was wondering if the Kosovo would be treated as a distinct country, as in the header section of caches in Kosovo it says "in Serbia" but in the "Maps" section of the personal statistics, there's a separate zone for Kosovo. Has anyone logged a find in Kosovo and can answer that question? Thanks, SpeedCore
  14. Use the version mentioned by jri above, that'll do the job until this is fixed in the next release.
  15. I just fixed it! I created a new cartridge, copied every section one by one over from the "broken" file to the new one (first Zones, then Characters, ...) i noticed that the new file stopped working ehwn i copieda funcion, that was referenced to an object, that i deleted earlier. somehow the function hadn't been deleted. Now, without that function, everything works just fine. I'll do more backups now and hope that it won't happen again Here's the "evil function": function zinputAmTor:OnGetInput(input) -- #GroupDescription=WachenAntwort -- -- #Comment=WachenAntwort Comment -- Wherigo.Dialog{{Text=[[Niemandem ohne Einladung wird Einlass gewährt! Für ein paar Münzen könnten wir jedoch darüber reden...]],},} end There's no zinputAmTor, i deleted it... So, for all of you experiencing weird "System.ApplicationException" errors, check your .lua file for functions containing objects, that were deleted previously. Happy coding, SpeedCore
  16. Hi charlenni, thanks dor your suggestion, i just replaced all german umlauts with ae, oe, ue, sz but it still won't load Any other suggestions, anyone? Thanks, Florian
  17. So it seems, i really have to start from scratch I'm really disappointed about the Builder-Application. It hasn't been updated since one year and has so many bugs... Is Wherigo dead already? ;( I would appreciate, if someone could fix my .lua
  18. Hi there, after i have spent 2 days of building my first cartridge, i couldn't publish it to my machine for some reason. I closed the builder and saved the cartridge to restart, but now i can't even open the LUA-File I havwe a working .gwl of this cartridge, but i think converting to lua is impossible, isn't it? I attached my .lua, .bkup, .enc file (in .zip) and the screenshot with the message when trying to open the cartridge. Somebody please help and save the hard work! Best regards, Florian ruine.zip
  19. Yes i noticed that, i don't know when and why i created this additional PQ So at the moment the button at the bottom is greyed out and it says "Last generated 3/22/2009 3:59:58 AM" but i didn't receive any e-mail I think 4am PST is 1pm in my timezone (GMT+1), there's definately no e-mail It goes to what ever email you have setup in your account. Check your spam folder. Jim awww, just found it in folder "work" Sorry for bothering and thanks for the fast responses!

  21. Hmm the query page says it ran at "3/22/2009 3:59:58 AM" but i didn't receive a mail I think i ran the wrong query today (i have another "myfinds"-query in the queue, but WITH radius limitation... I think i have to wait for the email or in worst case wait 7 days and try again..?
  22. Hi there, i just noticed, that the number of found caches in the "MyFinds"-PQ isn't correct. It doesn't show any cache more than 600km from my home coordinates, but i have set it to 750km (maximum?). It returns 214 results, should be 252. Doesn't work with 500mi radius either. What's wrong here? The maximum distance from my home coordinates is 776km (Seebrücke Zinnowitz). I haven't changed my home coordinates.
