  1. What seems to be a "very common" practice in the SLC area is to log FTF's for a grp when only one person is at GZ. Best this week was logging 3 FTF's without even signing the log
  2. Moun10Bike Than something has changed since April when I started. I have never cleared "geocache_visits.txt" but will from now on . Appreciate the help ! Happy caching or whatever the saying is
  3. Moun10Bike Thanks for your response! I have logged over 700 caches w/o this occurring and each logging was automatically DELETED.... and I have NOT changed any setting or filters. As indicated in the 1st post....I DELETED all the information on my GPS. I didn't realize that things can get so hostile here. I'll find another way to solve the problem. Have a great day.. thanks again !
  4. I think I was not clear...they keep rtning; even after deleting
  5. I have totally cleaned my Garmin 450T ( GPX folder and log/visit files purged) I d-loaded ONE cache. Found it and than went to FIELD NOTES to log the find. There are 100's of previous found caches that are listed as FIELD NOTES and the page did not open allowing me to d-load the NEW recently found cache ??? ANYONE having similar success (NOT) ! ?
  6. THANKS...obviously you have looked and know ....how did you know my area...cking profile ??? Not sure where to looked actually ?
  7. Sorry, my search skills are as poor as my finds When I go to Geocaching.com I can see trails at my local park/hiking area. 450T NONE No help from Garmin..they claim to be in the topo line business WHY ? I was trying to layout a course to take in the morning and was using Base Camp hoping to obtain the info (distance/elevation). Not a hint of a trail on the 450T loaded pgm.. Was told no difference if I bought the 24k ...which only gave me more topo lines. Any suggestions. Thanks
  8. Thanks! Just like my caching I go too fast. Here I missed the keyword "publish"... Zhees
  9. Thanks...but I am failing reading 101 ! I can't find a FTF ...tried trad cache but wants other info (which none seems applicable)...???? Seems sometimes pgmers makes stuff a lot harder than they have to ! Or do we call that "NOT USER FRIENDLY" ?
  10. Seems the topic keeps popping up and I may have missed the answer to this question. I am using an iPhone with L4CPro app. I was reading today that asomeone was only 3 miles away when notification of a FTF came in while playing at the park....I can't seem to find the post (duh) to ask. Any thooughts or suggestions for real time monitoring rather than periodic searching. Around here in CA it is like the start of Indy
  11. Geocaches are never buried, neither partially nor completely. If one has to dig or create a hole in the ground when placing or finding a geocache, it is not allowed. Ok..been kicking around caching for a little over 2 months. Recently I have found TWO caches buried. One had a bunch of favorite points ! These are not new caches and the CO's have numerous other caches. Also, I thought I had read somewhere that originally there was an agreement made NOT TO BURY. I'm struggling with the obvious. My guess is the CO's already know....any suggestions ???
  12. WELL...the ex-Microsoft kid bailed me out ! The COMPATABILITY ICON up on top, aka as the torn piece of paper was clicked by U know who Everything seems to be working. So when I saw the warning msg on top of the web page I got "click " happy... Enjoy !
  13. All was working on my PC till yesterday afternoon. Now : 1) The maps are blank when selecting a cache… blank boxes 2) I cannot download caches to my GPS 3) Unable to open hints 4) At the bottom, where you read the logs … it is closed requiring me to CLICK on View Logbook Any thoughts ? Thanks
  14. Another observation is that maps boxes are there but empty ! I think something has been disabled on my computer. Also when I scroll down to the log info at the bottom of the cache it is not open any more. I have to SELECT to see the logs
  15. Are you using a PC and Internet Express? The bold parts cause me to wonder. What you are experiencing could be a compatibility problem. The solution is here: http://support.Groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=215 This addresses older browsers, but as of late, people using IE9 and IE10 have also had this problem. I don't think (??) I'm using IE, but yes a PC. I just looked at my iPhone and maps are there...hinting that I have a problem at this end. Not sure what caused it to manifest but ...need to try and find the kid in Seattle, he might be able to talk me thru it. Did find the GPX file ~ 1.5 megs

  17. Thanks..and ZHEES ! Appreciate the suggestions but I still don't understand WHY the web pages look different this afternoon? I tried the direct download. No luck ! I looked at the files within and the logs is like 11K and the visit is 8K. Not being the least bit savey and...there is no only support from what I have learned ....since this software is considered 3rd party. Don't know anyone that can throw me a life line either...so looks like I am gonna have to resort to other things to amuse me. This stuff just JACKS my B/P...guess that is why I am two heart attacks down the rd already This has bee working way to easy and simple for their not to be something wrong...especially since the maps are not present on the cache pages. Once the dust clears I will learn how to do PQ's...but not right now. I'm in overload just trying to do what I know right now. thanks for all the help and suggestions !
  18. This morning I loaded a bunch of caches ( I've only done this like ~100 times )...this afternoon it has been a fight. The computer maybe winning. I noticed the thread below and it reads like there maybe a web problem, but I crashed and burned trying to filter thru it all ! I when I "click" on a cache with the GPS connected and verify that I want to load it... current logs aren't a series of DNF's or maintenance, then I "click" on the rectangular GPS bar to send it to the GPS. A screen noramlly would pop up and a second selection made after the words to the effect saying 'the 450T has been found' after completed there is a msg stating download complete OR it is already there "do you want to overwrite ?'. I am NOT getting that box to pop up nor scrolling down do I see any maps..box is there but nothing in it. I verified the cache is NOT being downloaded to my GPS.. guess it is gonna be a long w/e...unless someone has an idea. Thanks
  19. Great Scott: You need to come clean and STOP being the Mask Man what does Wayne have to do with this...who is Wayne ?? A-Team & Scott....job well done. I'll bet you have tons of puzzle solves too ! Went back for the 2nd time and talked to Garmin again. RECEIVERS are RECEIVERS..now there is some brilliance don't ya know. Got a second explanation...same as someone already said on this thread. RECEIVERS !!! So once the dust cleared and with a WHOLE bunch of coaching we were able to find the file hidden in the darkness of my computer with the GPS ATTACHED. D-loaded file and all is well and working. Till I forget in the morning. I did get the explanation that phones can load directly which may have cause the brain fart...don't ya know! Going back in the mem banks ..I had been going to the web site and logging all the MANWELL way. Thanks for the time, effort and persistence ....sometimes hard heads need dynamite.
