  1. Jolly, don't waste your money. The coverage is very spotty. The Mapsource product you're talking about is a combination of MetroGuide, Roads & Recreation, and Enhanced Base Maps. The MetroGuide only covers Montreal, Vancouver, Toronto, and Ottawa. I just looked at my copy and even the Roads & Recreation doesn't seem to have any more detail in the province of Manitoba. I did see improvements for that province with the Enhanced Base Maps. E-mail me if you would like more information. "ROCKY"
  2. I will also include an Offical Garmin soft zipper case with belt loop
  3. For Sale Garmin GPS III Plus. Including Manual, combo PC/12Volt Cable. Excellent Condition. $215.00 Email me Rocky@infoblvd.net
  4. I have the Map 76S and eMap. I feel that the eMap is the best GPSr for the money out there. I have a 32MB card in mine with Topo, Metroguide and Roads & Recreation all loaded. I LOVE MY eMap!!!
  5. Am I still a charter member?
  6. After reading the above I was surprised to see that my Cache in Orlando is among the leaders. With 123 total logs, 108 finds. I think I have about 16 with it on their watch list. If you plan on a visit to see Mickey, check out my cache: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=11128&log=y&decrypt=
  7. I bought a Radio Shack Cell Phone mount. Works with my 12Map, eMap and Map76S. Here is the link: http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=CTLG%5F001%5F004%5F008%5F002&product%5Fid=17%2D552
  8. Thank God for this thread! It's nice to hear that there are a few other people who own way more than they really need to. At last count here is the story; 1 StreetPilot III, 2 Vs, 2 eMaps, 3 III Plus, 1 12Map, 1 Map76S, with another 12Map, III Plus, and eMap on the way. Except for the SteeetPilot III and one of the Vs everything is for sale.
  9. I have a Garmin V Deluxe for sale, excellent condition. $350 I will consider a trade in on your Garmin GPS. Contact me Rocky@infoblvd.net
  10. Hey rayt333, lighten up. Just because you are ignorant is no reason to say things like: "MAKE A FAST BUCK" or "STOLEN PROPERTY" I knew exactly what he meant, you apparently are particularly clueless when it comes to Garmin receivers. I've always found when you have no idea what you're talking about the best thing is to keep your mouth shut or keyboard quiet as the case may be.
  11. This is a perfect condition Garmin Map 76S with: Original box, PC Data Cable, and Manual. I can load the 24MB of programmable memory with the Mapsource Maps of your choice prior to shipping. Price is $359.00 including insured shipping. Email me Rocky@infoblvd.net PS I Will consider taking your Garmin GPS as a trade in on this unit
  12. It will show elevation on any of the pages that have data fields. It is one of the user selectable options. I always have it on the map page when auto-routing
  13. Vista in perfect condition with: manual, data cable, 12V cable, case with see thru cover and belt clip, dash mount. $325.00. Email me @ Rocky@infoblvd.net. I also have several other Garmin units to sell.
  14. As my good buddy Gimpy said the Map 76 is a great unit. I think however you cannot get more bang for your buck than with eMap. Because it takes data cards you are not limited to 8mb of downloadable memory. I have a 32 meg card in mine with Topo, Roads and Recreation, and Metroguide all loaded. From the cache to the Post Office to the restaurant without missing a beat. But if I have not convinced you I do have a Map 76 for sale, drop me an email if think you might be interested.
  15. I do not think your problem has anything to do with the off or on road setting. The pointer or the track up feature of the map are not reliable at walking speed. My solution is to set my GPS to magnetic north. I carry a compass and take the bearing to the waypoint on the GPS as GOSPEL. The compass reading takes me to the cache every time.
  16. You are going to be very pleased. The color is beautiful and much easier to see that the V. The voice prompts allow you to keep your eyes on the road when required to do so. You will soon be very spoiled, and wonder why your Map 76 is not talking to you. I have both City Navigator and Metroguide loaded and use both. Enjoy, you are about to find out what going first class is all about.
  17. I have not noticed anyone logging one older than my recovery of the benchmark monumented in 1899 and recovered by me in 2001. I have just out done myself having recovered a mark monumented in 1897, as soon as my recovery is listed on the official data sheet history section I will log it here on geocaching.com with pictures. It is a third order horizontal triangulation station, sure could not believe my eyes when my GPS said 5 feet and there it was. How did they do that back in those days?
  18. I have a Garmin V with PC Data Cable, Dash Mount, and 12V Cigarette Lighter Adaptor. I do not have the City Select Software but will include something I think is better. I am including an original Metroguide Ver 4.01 which will support the auto-routing function of the V. Unlike City Select you will have the entire U.S. without purchasing additional areas, or buying the very expensive deluxe version to have the all area unlock Also the new City Select is causing some users a problem because of the added business information they are getting fewer maps loaded in the Vs 19MB internal memory. Many have commented they like Metroguide better. Price is $375.00 Firm Email me Rocky@infoblvd.net I will consider taking other Garmin units in trade [This message was edited by ROCKY on August 06, 2002 at 08:22 PM.]
  19. Love my eMap! I have a V, Map76, III Plus StreetPilot III, and eMap. I have had, II, II Plus, III, 12, 38, eTrex yellow, eTrex Legend. The eMap is the best value of the lot. With the option of adding data cards so you can take advantage of Mertoguide, Roads and Recreation, and Topo Garmin software is great. You can have all 3 loaded on the same card at the same time. Find the cache, look up a nearby restaurant including phone numbers, call for reservations, and route to it. Great buy, tell him to go for it!!
  20. I have submitted over 40, all first order horizontal triangulation stations. These are always on the highest ground, and consist of 3 disks. The station mark itself, 2 reference marks. It has been very cool to be on the highest hill and find them, I have been to some wild places, even got an email from Deb Brown at NGS letting me know they appreciate my updating their records.

  22. To load maps you will need Garmin Mapsource software. Garmin has 2 titles that work with the 1.44 MB of memory built in to the III Plus. "Roads and Recreation" and "TOPO". I would think unless you are in a mountainous area the Roads and Recreation is your better bet.
  23. I would not get too excited, I have been using City Navigator, (same thing but for a StreetPilot III) for a month now. I still find myself going back to Metroguide II for better coverage and fewer mistakes.
  24. I did get an email about 10 days before my City Navigator 4.01 arrived. So I think CS must be delayed.
