  1. You can't remove it but you can have the moderators lock it.
  2. Mine shipped Friday, waiting with baited breath...
  3. Use the magnifying glass button to find.
  4. If you are using Firefox 3.6 the plugin is broken. It works with Internet Explorer though...
  5. Just ordered my copy by calling DeLorme. Price was $59.99 plus tax and shipping for being a repeat customer. Really can't justify the price of upgrading the PN-40 I just ordered Christmas morning for a new "pretty" display...
  6. That's why most manuals usually say "Before doing updates make sure batteries are fully charged or install new ones"... Nice work ripping off Target because you FUBARed the unit.
  7. No setting to change. The last update broke the plugin for Firefox... Works in IE though.
  8. Anyone want to buy a slightly used PN-40? DROOLING over the PN-60 now...
  9. From the Delorme Blog: Important Product Release News May 14, 2010 The SPOT Communicator for the new DeLorme PN-60w has been delayed until early July. We apologize for this delay, which is entirely due to one component shortage. We are working aggressively to resolve that shortage situation now. This shortage was unexpected and driven by the difficulties facing many suppliers attempting to ramp up production to meet rising demand following the recession. Customers will be able to purchase the new DeLorme PN-60 model with Topo North America 9.0 software and maps included (the PN-60 is the next-gen of the PN-40 with vastly improved memory and battery performance plus much more, available in red) in mid-June from any number of DeLorme resellers, but need to understand this particular model will not work with the SPOT Communicator when it becomes available in early July. The PN-60w model with the new SPOT Communicator included will be available for preordering in June from resellers and also from DeLorme. As a reminder, this will be the world’s first handheld GPS that enables typing and transmitting one-way short text messages using the SPOT satellite system when outside cellular coverage. Those of us at DeLorme and SPOT are very excited by what we are seeing in the test phase of this new product combination and are confident it will revolutionize customers’ experiences using GPS and satellite text communications for years to come. We thank you for your patience and understanding. Please check our blog for the latest news as we move forward. -The DeLorme/SPOT Product Team
  10. Enjoy what you have my friend. Back in the day we didn't even have 1 PQ to download! You printed it out ONE AT A TIME!!!
  11. My first GPS was a Magellan MAP 330. My wife bought it for me so I could map fiber optic cable routes in Atlanta, GA. Since then I have had 2 Magellan Meridian Golds, a Garmin Etrex Legend and a Meridian Color. Current units are Delorme PN-40, Garmin Nuvi 205W and a Delorme LT-40 (which I really don't use much since getting the Nuvi).
  12. JSU is Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, AL. I live in Anniston but there are several cachers in/near Piedmont.
  13. Last one I saw on ebay went for enough to buy 2 PN-40's with Power kits, Map Library subscriptions and change!!!
  14. To Jeremy, the crew at Groundspeak and Approvers. As a Charter Member (although I lapsed so now I am "only" a Premium Member) I would like to say THANKS! I have watched this go from an underground hobby to the large community that it is today and that is wonderful. I have met many new friends and seen places I would not have seen otherwise as a result of geocaching. Being able to load 500 caches (soon to be 1000!) at a time into my DeLorme PN-40 was only once a dream when cache pages were printed one at a time. Sure there have been growing pains but that is to be expected. Nothing great started out perfect. Time and trials make products better. Again, just a tip of my hat and a THANK YOU for Jeremy, the Team of Lackeys and Approvers. You have unknowingly made my life (as well as tons of others) more interesting and enjoyable thru your work and selfless determination...
  15. GSAK Geocaching Swiss Army Knife is what I use for my 40.
  16. Purely speculation on my part but with the announcement of the PN-60 the 20 may indeed be a Legacy unit (to borrow Magellan's term). I have a PN-40 that I bought Christmas day from Amazon.com and so far I really like it. I had a Magellan Map 330, then a Meridian Gold followed by a MeriColor. All those were good units in their day but the 40 with 2.7 software seems to be the cat's meow. The only thing I have noticed missing is Projection but how many times does one really use that feature. The opinions shared above are those of an aging, graying hampster. Take them for what you wish, email me if you wish to talk more in depth.
  17. The best resource for Triton help I have found is http://tritonforum.com/
  18. Have 2 Meridian golds without displays. Interested?
  19. I bought a Speck Tough Skin for my 205W off Amazon.com. Not waterproof but will help if it gets dropped. http://www.amazon.com/Speck-Products-Rubbe...940&sr=8-16 I also keep a sandwich bag handy...
